I come here all the time good food and salsa is awsome. Good place for beer and tacos

The meat had no flavor and the burrito was wrapped so hooribly that as soon as I bit into it it fell completely apart

I’m new to the neighborhood, so I went searching for a local taqueria and decided to give this place a spin. I was really impressed on my first try. Prices are about a dollar less than typical for a super burrito or meatless burrito. The carnitas has both tender and crunchy bits, which was a nice touch. It will take me a while to work through the menu, but I’m looking forward to it.

I went to Tacos de Volada because of the reviews on Unilocal. So I ordered three Tacos Plus. Two of them were Carnitas, and the other was Al Pastor. The tacos were drenched with guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. To the point where you can barely see the tortillas. I was fine with that. What fatty wouldn’t be? The Carnitas was really good. It had a fried crunch to it, which I like. The Al Pastor was okay, but then again, I’m not a big Al Pastor fan. I don’t even know why I ordered it? As I was waiting for my togo order, I noticed several flies swarming in there. So the second time I went Tacos de Volada, I ordered a Carnitas Super Burrito. As I was waiting for my togo order, I noticed flies again! That’s when I started to question their sanitary practices. I mean, couldn’t they get a fluorescent light to kill them, like most restaurants have? So when I got home, I was eating my burrito and felt something weird texture wise. I pulled something out of my mouth, and it was a FINGERNAILCUTICLE! THISISNOJOKE! I was so disgusted, I was spitting everything out of my mouth, and threw away the rest of my burrito! I will never eat here again, ever!

Been digging this place lately. The ceviche is usually super good, but the portion does vary. Chips are good and fresh but the salsas are just decent. Wish they had Pico DE Gallo at the chip bar but for free I can’t really complain.

very good. I’ve had the menudo twice. They didn’t give me oregano and chile. The taste was very good tho. Definitely going back.

Still 4 stars. I came here on a Sunday, intending to taste my first Menudo. It didn’t disappoint. As always, full a flavor and a bit spicy. The friendly cook even gave me al pastor to sample, gratis!

Some of the best burritos, go for the carne asada. Yum.

My husband and I are regulars here, especially for their super tacos! It’s quick to go, especially when you order ahead. The super tacos are flavorful and it is generously topped off with guacamole, meat, spicy salsa and cheese. I usually get two, and the husband gets three, and it’s super satisfying without leaving you too full. However, the sauces you can grab to go are mediocre, nothing too impressive. I just simply get lime to cut off the richness of the tacos Parking is just fine in that little 4 store plaza. Order ahead and you’ll be good to go!

I wouldn’t know about the food that we really wanted to try out. We’re new to the area so we decided to check this place. Reviews were decent so why not??? Walked in, one customer waiting or atleast sitting there. 1 cook and what might as well been a cardboard cut out girl. No hello ATALL! NOTYPEOFGREETING, SHEBASICALLYLOOKEDRIGHTPASTUS. So screw you girl, later! We walked right out!

Let me be blunt. This place was awful. 1. The tripe in the menudo smelled and tasted like it had not been cleaned properly. It was so gamey and the smell was so pungent that I winced. I decided to taste it anyways just to see if it was just the smell and the taste was even worse. Trust me, I know my menudo. This was OFF. 2. They took so many things off their menu. Lengua and carnitas was no longer available. What good taqueria doesn’t have carnitas or lengua? 3. It took so long to get our food and there was only 1 guy ahead of us. There are too many good taquerias in San Jose. I’m definitely scratching this one off the list.

I love their steak(asada) and al pastor(marinated pork) … I live close by and eat their food usually once or twice a week. Tacos, burritos and sopes are great. Give them a try, it’s a small place but the food is great.

So disappointed I’ve been wanting to try this place out for a while now and the day I decide to come try it, its closed. They had the dining room lights off and the gal was taking the garbage out. However the sign says they close at 930pm, as well as, their Unilocal page. It was only 8:30pm when I drove up.

Couldn’t try it out since we arrived at 8:30pm to find it was closed. Unilocal and sign on the door stated closing hours were 9:30pm Bummer! I’ll try again earlier!

Is it the BEST San Jose has to offer? No. Is it up there with the best? Yeah. The Enchiladas were really good and full of flavor. The chips are the bomb. The salsa they offer is actually flavorful! Downside I guess would be how hot it is on the inside, but how authentic would you really be if it wasn’t blazing hot… Now THAT’S authentic Mexican stuff right there! I dunno, I guess it goes with the vibe… Makes you feel like you’re in good old Mexico… I guess. The drinks from the fridge are plenty cold and the workers are very nice(and yes bilingual… Though I tried with my most broken Spanish to try to accomplish something that day, other than eat and be lazy). The place is moderately clean, but nothing«gross» TBH. I could use a sweep or two here or there(refer back to my authentic comment). All in all, it’s a very good place for the price, I promise you’ll like it… Trust me, I’m a Unilocal reviewer.

I was pleased by this place. I got a chicken regular burrito and it was really large and tasty. My girlfriend got two chicken tacos and she seemed to enjoy them. Not the greatest Mexican place I have ever been to but definitely worth trying.

Got the super burrito and it was legit! Got carne Asada and the meat was juicy, tasty, and also had a little crunch which made it even better. My lady, got 3 tacos all of which looked very good. We tried the salsas but they were all super spicy! Overall, very good. One of the best burritos in San Jose.

Located in a sketchy Blossom Valley strip mall, Tacos D Volado(TDV) has become my «go-to» spot near my house when I’m craving Eastside(ESSJ) quality Mexican food. The strip mall TDV is located in also meets all my criteria for a ESSJ dining experience: Liquor store? 7 – 11. Awful, but cheap, cell phone carrier? MetroPCS. Check cashing/payroll advance? Check. Borrachos in the parking lot? Double-check! Now that our checklist is complete, let’s eat! So far, I’ve only tried their Super Burritos and Super Tacos, and you can’t go wrong with either; it just depends on what you’re craving. The super burritos are massive, and remind me of how super burritos used to be 15-years ago. The super tacos are also pretty gigantic and loaded up with guacamole, meat, salsa and cheese – I wouldn’t recommend ordering more than 2 – 3 of those bad boys. TDV also offers up the usual suspects of Mexi-Meats for your dining pleasure. Here are the ones I’ve tried, so far: Carnitas– TDV’s Carnitas are terrific – juicy, crunchy and full of flavor. 5* Tripas– They might have some of the best Tripas I’ve had; they fry them up perfectly so all you get is that slight taste, with a whole lotta crunch! 4.5* Al Pastor– Their Al Pastor is juicy with a decent flavor, but you do get some occasional gristle in there which is no bueno… 3* Pollo Asado– Standard Mexi-grilled chicken, that’s not my usual cup of tea, but I «sampled» some of my wife’s – for scientific purposes only, of course. 2.5* Salsa Bar– Every good Taqueria should have a salsa bar, and TDV is no exception; they don’t have a great selection(only two reds and one green), but I would recommend sticking with their reds, and skip the bland and flavorless salsa verde. Be warned they are both extremely spicy. So, make sure you taste test them before slopping it on your taco – you’ve been warned. 3.5* Horchata– Basic tasting Horcahta that’s a little too watered down, but I order it anyways. 3* Service & Ambiance-TDV is a tiny hole-in-the-wall spot that seats about 20 – 25 locos and locas, and is kept fairly clean. There always seems to be a soccer match, or telenovela, on the tiny TV in the corner and they never seem to be too busy. The girl taking orders is usually friendly, but seems a bit shy for someone working the front register. 3.5* Value– Their burritos are value-priced at $ 7/each, but their tacos are priced a bit higher($ 2/reg & $ 2.65/Super) than most ESSJ joints. However, they really pack it in, so at least you’re getting your moneys worth. 4* If you live in South SJ and are craving quality ESSJ Mexican food, then TDV is your spot. They have easily replaced Chavez(where the prices are big and the portions not so much) as my «go-to» spot, and if you give them a try I’m sure it’ll become yours as well. ¡Arrriba!

We are very pleased, satisfied, and frequent this place after school or for dinner once a week. Super Tacos are decent size, tasty, and fresh. The kids(we have 5) love the carne asada tacos, chips, horchata, and rice. We typically take our food to go. The taqueria only has a couple of tables inside. We have stayed to eat, but it can get crowed quick. Try the super tacos and horchata!
