This place is actually good. Back in the 90s it wasn’t the cleanest place but now it’s pretty clean as far as any place goes. The lady is nice and the food was good. It seems they use more actual protein rather than just the breeding. Anywho i go here when I want Chinese.

Mr. Chau’s is still there. The manager wants to share the place with wings and dips. Just went there yesterday. The front is the wings place, and the back is Mr. Chau’s.

Pretty run down. Large quantity of basic food. My kids like it, but really not great food — even for the price. Other Mr. Chau locations are better. Been twice, not likely to go back.

I haven’t eaten at Mr. Chau’s since the 1990s when I first met my ex in Palo Alto. It was $ 5 back then and now $ 6 for a 1 item meal. Fast food and everything in San Francisco is way more than that now. The pot stickers are hot and crispy(I prefer mine crunchy) and the portions are good. The place is run down but it’s still a good value.

I’ve been coming to Mr chaus since they first opened up and the food was great, now I don’t what happened the restaurants are now slow and the food is expensive and the food portions are smaller and there is not that much food choices anymore! The staff is not happy to serve anyone of different ethnic, its becoming a problem. This restaurant looks as if it’s undergoing construction or demolition. I just got in and order my food and realized how much of a dump this place is, the interior ceilings are falling down and the ceiling is leaking from the small rain we encountered last night and the chairs are weak and the wobble! LAWSUIT!!! The parking lot is in need of attention and the two mini bobtails don’t seem to be in service with graffiti on the side. Yeah eye sore I say. Does the owner need an overhaul or does the property! Any who I thought I share my thoughts with all my neighbors and near by food sighters. Good luck on your choices! Don’t forget to bring fly paper with you on your next visit

The food is okay, and the lady who works there is really sweet. But my main issue was the cleanliness of the place. There were so many flies around the food, which grossed me out. The food should at least be covered, I’ve been here a few times before today and never noticed a fly problem

You know how sometimes a hole-in-the-wall is just the right kind of simple comfort? Yeah, this isn’t one of those places. I don’t remember what I got here because I think my brain tried to remove the trauma. It was something greasy, mushy and poorly seasoned. I felt legitimately depressed sitting at the picnic tables outside, but it was stiflingly hot inside. I thought it would be reasonably cheap because of the poor quality, but it was about the same price as Panda Express. I couldn’t bring myself to come close to finishing my meal, so I tossed a full plate in the trash. If you want Chinese fast food, just go to Panda.

Drove by Meridian and needed some quick dinner. Pulled in and was surprised by the ancient upholstery chairs and old décor. The place is dingy. Order noodles, house chicken and garlic chicken as it was the only option to get my veggies in. Sigh. Noodles are bland, house chicken is dry and prob under the heat lamp too long. Garlic chicken was salvageable. Next time, I’ll just pull into Wienerschneitzel!

This place is a sh*thole. I got the 5-Flavor Chicken, Dai Chin Chicken, ½ a side of Steamed Rice, ½ a side of Vegetable Chow Mein, and two Egg Rolls. All of them were about 2 stars. I couldn’t tell the two chicken dishes apart. Neither were spicy like they were supposed to be, both were drowned in sauce, and while I was eating, I could feel my body cussing at me for it. The chow mein was one of the worst that I’ve had, and the rice was probably average, but when mixed w/all that other crap food, it didn’t make it past 2 stars. The Egg Rolls were barely warm, and I’ve had microwavable egg rolls that would probably taste better than these if I just let ‘em thaw and didn’t even warm them up. So everything was 2 stars, but the review is one star. Why? Because of the motherf***ing flies! An army of aggressive indoor flies swarmed my table as soon as I got my food. I’m talking AGGRESSIVE! I swat one away from my food, and another one comes from the other side… while a third little f**ker decides to take a dip in my cup of water. Packed it up, tossed the water, and went to eat outside, where there were no flies. If I was having trouble fighting them off of my little plate, I know the girl working there wasn’t gonna be able to keep them off the food bar. Last thing… if you’re looking for a beef dish here, you have two choices: 1. Beef & Broccoli 2. Eff off Seriously, those are your options… I’d recommend option 2. I’d rather starve than eat here again.

Uhm zero stars for this one… This has to be the worst mr Chaus ever. the cleanliness here will make you sick to your stomach alone. and the food is questionable at best. WHY is It the last few times I eat here I got sick or close to it… but some krazy addictive MSG in this food will keep u coming for more. I have to say it taste better than panda fast food but the health RISK this location presents is far too Risky for ever eating in here… They have gone out of business several times I would guess for health risks… lool but now they are just on top of a very thin ice thats waiting to crush down &break them out of business for good!!! if you want good food or at least great sandwiches try mr pickles chain in cambell or «freshly baked eatery» in downtown SJ

Came here for a late dinner they make you pay before they serve you which is understandable but a lil awkward but they do give you your moneys worth I loved the way they packed the food on, 1 plate can feed 2 people which I love cause now I have breakfast :) I ordered half n half chow mien n fried rice with orange chicken and honey chicken the food was good but not great but if u want a good meal that is filling and satisfying I recommend going here plus its budget friendly all in all will definitely be back.

They’ve definitely upgraded décor wise since the remodel 6 months prior. to me it looks like a regular Joe schmoe fast food joint but inside is gorgeous with cherry wood furniture and various wall art :) as for the food I wouldn’t recommend going in drooling towards the end of the business day since the food is probably sitting too long under the heat lamps. I mean Chinese food is never as good as the next day but I doubt anyone wants to spend gas and energy on hours old food. So moral of the story folks: get there early ;) a few other things to mention would be this location is on a busy traffic street off of 280; at night if you live close by, the parking lot next door with the empty restaurant is über sketchy with some drunks or bums or what have you just roaming around in there. Not a comfy feeling when you’re solo for some quick grub; or if u decide to turn around and pick another poison there’s a KFC, Subway, Wienerschnitzel, and even a Yum Yum Donuts a few blocks South ;)

I don’t know why people are giving this such bad reviews. The place used to be much bigger and yes, the food was a lot better but the place itself is not that terrible. Sure, you gotta pay before ordering and I know that it is different than Panda but the place is decent enough to consider it as Chinese Fast Food. Give it a try and don’t be close-minded about it!

Really need to complete their renovation and hire professional cleaners. It’s much more depressing than a burger king or mcdonalds! The restaurant seems claustrophobic. I guess they are re-doing the gigantic dining room, perhaps as a different restaurant. The food choices are limited. People know they are coming here for fast Chinese food, but they mainly have deep fried foods. The people who decided on pay first pathway for paying for food really didn’t think about customer satisfaction. I love cheap chinese food. Try Winchester Chef. The food moves quickly. It’s dirty there too, but mostly because people leave a mess after eating… People like panda express because it’s clean, standardized and fresh. The food isn’t terrible tasty at Panda, but it moves fast so it doesn’t get too old…

I would give it s minus one star if I could. Way to much food(Garbage). Food left out for who knows how long that sits out in the open for bugs to fly around on. I will have to say, when you walk in you get the feeling of walking into a Chinese restraunt. Let’s just say when you are done eating that garbage you will know why they went out of business. Save your money and go the extra mile and find a «Panda Express»

Yikes, I have not seen this place with more than 3 or 4 people in it ever. I live very close so it is incredibly tempting to grab some quick chinese. But the problem is, they don’t serve Chinese food… they serve breaded low grade meat smothered in oily sweet and salty sauce. You have your choice of: Breaded and deep fried chicken in orange sauce or sweet and sour sauce. Breaded and deep fried beef in orange sauce Breaded and deep fried pork in orange sauce or sweet and sour sauce. Oh, but wait, you get free soup! Sweet! No wait, this hot and sour soup isn’t supposed to be sweet! wtf?! There is a subway in a gas station right across the street… I suggest you go there instead.

THEFORCEISNOTWITHTHISONE… Greetings, Master Yoda my name is. I sense a disturbance in the force. A place I see… a small, dirty eatery called Mr. Chau’s Chinese Fast Food. Into the place I had to go. Hungry I was. Slimy and dirty the floors were, much like the swamps on my home planet Dagobah. Smelled like a swamp too, it did. Order my food I could not!!! Told to pay first I was!!! What nonsense is this, I asked? The lady yelled at me, she did. Waving her hands repeatedly… telling me to pay first, before ordering!!! Made no sense this did. Given a bag of food I was. Not what I had ordered, but a grab bag of sorts. Stay away from this place, you must!!! Pay them you will, but your order you will not receive… instead, whatever they decide to give you, they will. Throw your money down a toilet and bob for turds you might as well. The same experience you will receive. One star is too many for this place. No stars are deserved. Only mop and broom to wash the stinky mud hole. If, into the hole you must go, then beware… your journey to the dark side has begun.

So effin’ nasty. HOWDOTHEYSTAYINBUSINESS? It smelled like shit in there, the floors were dirty, soda was flat and didn’t taste like soda. You had to pay first? And everything was some variation of chicken that’s been there for ages. I got sick after eating there. Maybe I should have turned around when I saw the lady mopping and then then didn’t bother to wash her hands or wear gloves when she was scooping my food into the take out box. GROSS!

Their food itself is decent, but it is far superior to any other Chinese food we have had in San Jose. The staff isn’t exactly the most helpful staff in the world, but they are there and willing to give out samples and answer any questions you have regarding their food rotations. They do have a weird thing about having to pay first and THEN you decide what to eat — which is the only place I’ve seen thus far that does so. A lot of people seem to not understand this and stand in front of the food without reading the BIG sign right on the wall below the menu«PAYFIRST». I’ve seen a lot of people refer to their service as crappy due to the fact that they didn’t realize to pay first. The restaurant itself is alright. it’s not exactly a 5 star cuisine, so don’t expect to have a world class table. The tables could definitely use an upgrade. this is why they lost 1 star from me. It’s definitely worth eating here once in a while — do not pay attention to all the negative whiners. The food is decent and always hot! prices aren’t terrible either.
