I am so sad to report that on a recent drive by we found that GGR is now closed. The wonderful people that worked there, including Robert the owner, were no where to be found. This saddens my heart because, yes, it WAS a hole in the wall that was beginning to fall apart. BUT it had heart. The owner loved his business. The people stayed there FOREVER. It had an incredible take-out following. My only guess is that the repairs needed to keep the restaurant going were more than the owner could afford(again, I have no idea). Robert, if you ever read this, my family and I wish you well on your journey. Your ‘best customer’ is devastated that you are gone and says she will miss you, the special chopsticks you made for her within minutes of her arrival, and that you always let her have 2 pieces of candy when she left(instead of one). Thank you for many years of wonderful visits.

If you looking for local chines food this the place. I recommend Mongolian beef and Spicy eggplant with garlic sauce. They have lunch specials. The owner is very nice and friendly. Reasonable price for the quality of food.

Not very good. The rice was greasy and the veggies tasted like frozen grocery store veggies. My daughter asked for no egg in her rice and of course the egg was included. Very disappointing. Poor service as well.

Dined here for years, recent visit promoted me to write a review. Their service was prompt and reasonably friendly. The food came faster than I have gotten at some fast-food restaurants and it was all prepared excellently. All delicious and 4 dishes fully consumed by 4 people. Recommend String Beans and Honey Walnut Shrimp.

Quaint interior with split-level booth area, upholstered in a soothing sea-green.There is also a large rounded booth on the platform, plus regular tables down below, very simple and quiet. Owner is quite friendly and polite. I ordered the lunch special with the Szechuan pork, which I actually felt could use some more spice. The egg roll was crispy and tasty – one of the better ones I’ve had. Rice was simple, with Veg-All or something similar, but tasty. They serve good tea here, and you don’t really have to wait for it to brew. Just pour it and wait for it to cool off. Reasonably priced.

Holy hole in the wall. This place doesn’t look like much but they have some delicious food. Their won ton soup is all I crave on cloudy days. Give it a try.

This place doesn’t look like much from the outside(or inside), but once you go on in and give it a try you will find a range of solid American Chinese dishes that are both very tasty and affordable. Today I got the $ 6.25 lunch special which included hot and sour soup, spring roll, sweet and sour pork, cashew chicken and yummy fried rice. Great deal and it left my mouth watering for more. I’ll be back.

A very disappointing experience. I have been meaning to try this restaurant for awhile and finally did for lunch. The service, friendliness and general attitude of the staff was outstanding and in no way a reflection of my review. So why 1 star? The overall appearance of the restaurant is very dirty and appears there is no effort to properly clean it. The restroom, kitchen area, general condition of the carpeting, and other areas(rug leading into the kitchen needs replacing-not cleaning) are unacceptable. The area under the table, the dirty sticky menu… unacceptable. When I got my meal, some type of chicken dish, there was a strong stale odor… which I decided not to try. I left the meal over, paid for it, and told the server the food was awful. He was polite, apologized, offered to get me something else… I refused. On several days at various times, I do pass the restaurant and see very little business inside. This includes Friday and Saturday nights. Not too much on a lunch crowd, per my observation. I know some of the other reviews give it 4 or 5 stars… I don’t understand why, perhaps their standards of cleanliness and quality are different than mine.

My review is based on the Chinese chicken salad. Very refreshing and delicious. The staff is also very sweet and courteous. I look forward to trying other items here in the future.

I started working near Golden Garden recently and it has become a lunch staple for me. It is still americanized chinese food, but it’s definitely on the better end of that spectrum. They have a cheap 2 item combo lunch special that includes fried rice and soup. I also really enjoy their Wor Won Ton soup. This place would probably get 3 stars from me, but the staff/owner are always super friendly and make it much easier to come back and give them business.

I stopped here tonight for the first time to pick up a Togo order. I have to say that I was very impressed with the food. We ordered few main dishes and a large soup. The prices are very affordable. Food quality is 5⁄5. When I showed up, the placed had few tables(Christmas eve) but I can see it very packed during normal business hours. I will defiantly come back here and eat again. Very happy.

This place is an awesome neighborhood Chinese restaurant. We love the hot and sour soup, which is the best I’ve had in the South Bay. Their pan-fried noodles on a sizzling platter are excellent, with a thick noodle, lots of veggies and shrimp and a delicious sauce. Beef broccoli, kung pao chicken, green beans and woe won ton soup are typical, but consistently good as well. We’ve come for the lunch special which is a lot of bang for your buck. The only dish that disappointed me was the lemon chicken. I felt the portion size was lacking, and the chicken tasted rubbery. Other than that, I love this place. The owners are so nice and accommodating, it’s always nice to see them. We tried to venture out and try other Chinese restaurants in the area because we go here all the time. Big mistake! If you try this place out, I highly recommend the pan fried noodles and the hot and sour soup. You won’t be disappointed.

The restaurants location should have been a key indicator for what I was about to experience. It’s in a small, outdated strip mall(minus the new OSH), so I got strip mall food quality. Veggie Delight– fresh, lots of veggies, but lacking something Veg Fried Rice– nothing to write home about my bf got Cashew Chicken– did not like the abundance of water chestnuts but a decent dish The place was empty on a Friday night, minus one other family. There are no decorations at all. I’m talking white walls all around. Pretty cold feeling. Service was fast and courteous. Price was decent. Still on a mission to find good Chinese in my neighborhood with Veg options.

Tried this place for the first time last night. The key for us was that they deliver. Not sure why Unilocal says they don’t. We ordered: Pot Stickers, Lemon chicken, General Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, Pork Chow Mien and Honey Walnut Prawns. We split up the dishes family style. The portions were pretty good size for the price. The Prawns were a little expensive but its something we only get once in a while. The family ate their fill and we had enough for 3 lunches today. The Pot Stickers were huge and very good. The Lemon chicken came with the lemon sauce on the side which kept it from being mushy. I am used to ore fast food style where it is served as chunks of chicken with fried coating. This was more like chicken breasts breaded, fried and sliced into strips. I’ve had it in this style before. Not my favorite but the chicken was good and the lemon sauce had a good flavor. The General Chicken had a good taste. We ordered it mild. I think next time we will try spicy. The Pork Fried was great. Lots of meat and egg and tasted very fresh. Pork Chow Mien was great according to my girlfriend. She asked for extra veggies and bean sprouts and loved it. The Honey Walnut Prawns had a very think sauce that at first didn’t look very appealing but they had a great flavor and I will definitely order them again. All in all we really enjoyed our dinner and the price was typical for the the amount of food we had. We will try eating at the restaurant in the future.

Came with some coworkers for lunch. This place was in the corner right next to OSH in a plaza. The restaurant isn’t very big, so it’s probably not a great idea for your whole family dinners. We ate family style and this is what we got: Honey walnut prawns — A lot of breading, almost like pancake batter! I really don’t like it when the breading is not right. But the sauce was pretty good. Mongolian beef — Pretty good and tasty. The beef was tender. A bit spicy. Kung Pao Chicken — This was not very spicy and had a lot of veggies. The chicken pieces were not very big but an okay dish. Vegetable Delight — Just a bunch of stir-fry veggies. The flavor was okay but nothing too special. I’d steer you to another veggie dish. Our meal was just okay, but not up to the standards of my taste. I may just come for a quick and cheap lunch. Their lunch specials seem pretty good for the price. May be good for certain dishes they make well. I can say that the service was pretty good. Our waters were filled all the time. This definitely made the experience better.

Low score but bottom line is that I’ll go back. Read on to find out why. After reading the reviews and seeing how a lot of people love this place I finally convinced my wife and son to give it a try.(He is a picky eater and she isn’t a big fan of Chinese food). One great thing is that when we walked into the restaurant we were greeted by huge smiles. Not the«great we have a customer» smile but a «I’m meeting a new friend» smile. The staff was very friendly and kind. This is the only reason that I’ll be coming back. My wife ordered the General Tso’s Chicken — not recommended. I had a bite and perhaps it was the worse that I’ve ever had. I had the Vegetable Delight(it was a hot day and I wasn’t in the mood for a heavy dish). This was alright but a bit on the salty side. My son had Shrimp Fried Rice and it was about average for fried rice. Now did we order the wrong things? Perhaps we did. As one other reviewer noted this is American Chinese Food not real Chinese food but that is okay — this style is what most American’s want and what I grew up on. I spend a lot of time in China so I can get my fix of the real thing when I’m there. Even so — this isn’t even good American Chinese Food based on what we had to eat. The General Tso’s sauce tasted like it came out of a bottle(a unsavory trend with Chinese Food restaurants unfortunately. That is why so many of them taste alike). Will I go back — yes and for only one reason. I like the people who run the place. They were friendly and seemed concerned when we didn’t finish everything and didn’t want to take it home. At one point the family next to us had an issue with their toddler. She started screaming and the father took her out(thanks your fellow diners appreciate that). The owner followed them out and brought the child a fortune cookie to make her feel better. You could tell he was genuinely concerned that she was alright. I like that and appreciate that. You can’t fake that and it makes me want to patronize this restaurant. That said, if I have a few more bad meals I will call it quits and wish them well.

Golden Garden is located in the Walgreens and Party City plaza. Its really tucked in a corner(closer to where Mervyn’s used to be). I came here for dinner with a few friends and we ordered the following dishes. 1. General Tso chicken — tasty, tender chicken with a little bit of spicyness 2. Lemon Chicken — the chicken was a bit dry. I liked how it was crunchy on the outside, since it was fried.lol. 3. Beef with Broccoli — Lots of crispy broccoli and tender beef. This was a good. 4. Sauteed String Beans — the string beans was overcooked, so it wasn’t crunchy. The soy sauce and garlic flavor was tasty though. Overall, Golden Garden has good Chinese food. The prices are fairly reasonable considering the huge portion size. The service was awesome, too. Our waters and tea were refilling many times. I’d come back if I was in the area again.
