Not sure why this place is four stars. I mean it’s fine, but with so many places around to choose from this doesn’t stand out. The quality of food is just OK.

Mediocre, at best. Food is just OK. Too many awesome breakfast spots in San Jose to waste your time here. Go to someplace good.

The servers here have always been attentive and cheerful. The ambiance is very, very old school — plastic booths and bright lights, but super clean. I’ve enjoyed their breakfasts several times. Had dinner there recently and was less impressed. The salads had too much white lettuce for my taste. The salmon filet was not very fresh and the«steamed» vegetables were tasteless. The pulled pork was pretty tasty, but a bit too salty. The french fries were nicely crispy and the mashed potatoes seemed real(had a lot of potato skin mixed in anyway). The surprise was that dessert was included. The portions were huge — I was not impressed with the carrot cake, but the apricot cobbler ala mode was fabulous. The prices are very fair.

We finally tried Cup & Saucer about 2 weeks ago and were amazed at how good it is. The menu is huge — has a lot of food to choose from. Tonight was our second time back in with our son. The food was good — very tasty. Our bill came to $ 29.32 I left over a 20% tip on the table for the waitress. Took our check to the register to pay — gave the cashier $ 50.35(a fifty — a quarter and a dime) She asks me if I want the .03 cents back…(I thought to myself — umm well I guess you can keep it) and then hands me a $ 20.00 bill in change… I was trying to make it as easy as possible. $ 50.35 — $ 29.32= $ 21.03 change — I received a $ 20.00 back OK — so its only a dollar — But come on — I left OVER20% tip on the table. I walked out thinking what just happened — So if the register is over(which it should be) You are WELCOME. All I know is when I was a hostess — we were audited by secret shoppers that came into the restaurant that I worked and my cash drawer was never over or short. I was always right on. I won an award for that too. So sad that the younger generation can’t do simple math. Please don’t take this review the wrong way — Service was great — food was Great — the place is neat and clean — etc. Just thought it was weird the easier I made it — the harder it was for the cashier.

I love this place. Best biscuits and gravy on earth… they have delicious home fries that do not have onions which is important to me lol … This is a great place to eat that I’ve been coming to since my kids were babies and it’s 17 years later… No matter how busy, they are great waitresses … My food is always perfect and just what I wanted

Super awesome and delicious breakfast place, we have tried this place at various times throughout the week over the last 8 years and never been once disappointed. Its a local joint with awesome owner and always smiling servers. Highly recommend the Carrot walnut bread. I have visited the place few times just for this bread.

After hitting Oakridge the boyfriend and I wanted to eat OUTSIDE of the mall. Found this place with a lot of reviews on Unilocal and thought, yeah. We’ll try. Friday night around 7:30 and we were greeted with the expected scene of a diner. Comfy and quiet. Service was decent, peop) e were just about finishing their meals so we were greeted and seated after about a 3min wait. Food was very american meals, breakfast served all day with a cute selection of cakes, cobblers and ice cream for dessert(mint, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla). I ordered the new York steak because I’m obnoxious and a hardcore carnivore. Boyfriend ordered the Guacamole burger. The size of my meat was alright, the taste was unmemorable but I’m the type who doesn’t use A1 and I love the natural flavors of beef so I try not to interfere with it. Boyfriend’s burger was acceptable, we both picked food that CANNOT easily be ruined. But as I said before, they weren’t memorable. Ending the night, the waitress offered us dessert and I jumped on the chance to eat a banana split. They do it the old fashioned way with Neopolitan. It was topped with whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry on top. It was good and pretty sizeable for a basic dessert. Would come again if feeling diner food!

This place is the most depressing place you’ll ever go in your life, but it always has been since I was a little girl. The service is great, everyone is very quick to seat you, give you water, and bring the food out. Our food was out in about 10 min and we ordered a Togo meal for my mom, and it was ready in less than 10 min! Eric and I happened to be in the area and stopped in to eat. I got the Supreme Breakfast Quesadilla with the house potatoes and it was made perfectly. The Anatoly perfect breakfast combo I’ve had in a long time. It came with freak salsa, GUAC, And sour cream! It’s very filling and the portions are nice and large. Eric got Flank Steak Sandwich and he devoured it. Said it was cooked perfectly, bread was soft and veggies were super fresh. I can’t say enough how amazing the food is.

Sunday morning in San Jose is a hard time finding a good breakfast place. We were staying on Blossom hill rd near the mall. wasn’t to excited about fast food places and had been to Denny’s the day before. Headed west and found cup n saucer in a strip mall busy place for an early Sunday morning. Service, food and prices were excellent

Love breakfast here. Lunch is great too, and the specials are a great deal. Quiet, sunny, friendly attentive service, almost never a wait, reasonable price, good food.

We come here a lot, especially when relatives are visiting. Their breakfast dishes are the way to go. Omelettes are great(big fan of the Californian). I’ve been let down by some of their dinners(note to self: skip the flank steak, meatloaf and French dip. Turkey dinner is ok but you don’t like the stuffing.). Dinner specials come with full dessert, including their big slices of cake(chocolate cake with chocolate frosting is the best). Husband likes to get fries instead of hash browns with his omelette. Kids eat free for dinner Monday nights, and they have a ½ sandwich option for him. Hooray!

Great little neighborhood café. Not pretentious and with good service. One negative is that they charge 75 cents for hash brown potatoes in lieu of their own cheaper cut potato with breakfasts. Like many places, their lemonade is not lemonade, but some powdered stuff. Service is good and quick. One thing I do not like is that they play Fox on their TV and that makes sick to my stomach. Not everyone there is a right-winger.

REALLY good breakfast, my spouse and I go to a lot of places in the area and usually have omelettes. I can easily say that I like the omelettes, potatoes and toast here better then all the other places we’ve ate at. The omelettes are called soufle omelettes and are whipped up really fluffy and filled with an abundance of delicious ingredients. The potatoes are cooked crispy with the skins on and very good. They don’t over butter their toast that’s really good. The location is a little small and it gets busy so the only thing I would change about this place is that they should take over the one of the surrounding spaces, expand and staff more people to accommodate their flow of customers.

I love this place. The menu is almost a mirror image of the menu at the Los Gatos Café, but without the long long waits and imho, better food. Don’t get me wrong, I love the LGC but I think I love Cup n Saucer more. You can have breakfast or lunch. Tons of Eggs Benedict options, including crab cake, which my daughter had and enjoyed, although she could only eat about 1⁄3.(Portions are HUGE). I did a «build your own» omelet and again, only managed to finish half. The potatoes are amazing. Super crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. You also get your choice of different kinds of bread or coffee cake or pastry. They keep the coffee coming and the service is warm and friendly.

I really really like it! I do. Just what you hope a diner is… Good food, warm, friendly, clean atmosphere. A real community place to be proud of! Recently I had the Chicken curry special, rich and delicious, nicely seasoned, tender Chicken and carrots over rice. Accompanied by a nice fresh salad. Had a eggs hollandaise a few weeks ago, also delicious. Only thing that was a little off, I had carrot cake that I took to go for dessert. The cake tasted a little stale, a little«of the refrigerator», and I’m 99% sure there was zero sugar in the cream cheese frosting. Like none, the forgot to put it in. Always good, consistent, friendly service.

This is the best breakfast place in town AND their lunch, dinner, and desserts are delicious too. I have been here many times before and absolutely love the food and atmosphere. Compared to other places nearby such as Bill’s Café and Scramblz, Cup and Saucer is the best. The quality of the food is great and the portion sizes are large which is perfect if you’re hungry. The staff are friendly and welcoming too. I absolutely love and highly recommend their Chicken Apple Potato Scramble for breakfast or brunch and their shrimp quesadilla or pretty much any burger for lunch or dinner. They also have a banquet room in the back which is pretty spacious and great for parties.

I came to Cup N Saucer(CNS) with my family after hearing lots of good things from some Unilocal friends. We were seated by a friendly, but slightly snarky hostess who seemed like she’d rather be elsewhere. Our breakfast got off to an inauspicious start when my wife looked at her coffee cup and it still had lipstick clearly visible on the rim. After getting the cup promptly replaced we set about ordering our breakfast. I ordered an Avocado Omelet; side of Fruit instead of Potatoes($ 1-extra); and some Raspberry Coffee Cake. My wife got the Chicken-Fried Steak(CFS), Scrambled Eggs, Buttermilk Biscuit, and Potatoes. We also ordered a side of Bacon for my son to nosh on. Here is the breakdown: Avocado Omelet– The omelet included Avocado, Onion & Feta Cheese. The omelet as a whole was not terrible, but it wasn’t particularly good either. The Feta wasn’t that great and the Avocado was still a bit under-ripe, but at least it was edible. 2.5* Fruit– They actually give you a really good selection of fruit. I got Kiwi, Bananas, Cantaloupe and Grapes. Most places just give you some Cantaloupe and grapes(if you’re lucky). 4.5* Coffee– Slightly below-average diner coffee. Nothing special to write about here, but it got the job done. 2.75* Chicken-Fried Steak– Not the worst CFS we’ve ever tried but far from the best. The coating was sogged-out, the meat had a weird texture and the gravy was below-average. 2.5* Buttermilk Biscuit– This thing was a biscuit in name only; I would liken it more to a hockey puck than a biscuit. Enough said. 1* Raspberry Coffee Cake– Decent enough coffee cake that tastes like it’s a straight from the box mix. It’s nowhere on the same level as Hobee’s Coffee Cake. 3* Bacon– Average run-of-the-mill bacon. Nothing special to speak of here. 3* I think the biggest problem with this place is that everything’s terribly under-seasoned and bland. I suspect it has a lot to do with a majority of their clientele being the elderly as that’s who seemed to have the run of the place on our visit. The service was OK and the value is not what I’d expect from a place with mediocre food. I paid just as much as I do when I go to Bill’s and I enjoy my meals 10x as much over there. They are actually opening a Bill’s just a stone’s throw from CNS. So I wish them luck just staying open with that kind of competition to deal with.
