I went there last week and was profoundly disappointed. I ordered the snow peas with black mushrooms and water chestnuts. They brought me a plateful of broccoli & carrots with very few snow peas or mushrooms. The waitress commented that II should have been happy with what the cook made. I told her that wasn’t what I ordered so she came back with a small amount of snow peas and no mushrooms. Again, not what I ordered. Also, when I asked if they served kimchee, she looked at me like I had 2 heads. She did bring some, but it was limp and may have been from the bottom of the jar.

Just tasteless Food. Ordered 4 main dishes, of which the shrimp and lobster sauce was inedible Thin sause, no flavor, and tough chewy shrimp. Other dishes genrral taos chicken, beef and broccoli and mu shoo chicken all non discript. Worst hot and sour soup. Not hot and not sour. Two stars for getting the order right. Better off going elasewhere.

They have had a remodel that makes the place quaint, colorful, and as always spotlessly clean! The classical music in the background gives a serene vibe. This place is one of my top places to eat in the bay area.

One of the better white-wash Chinese restaurants in the area. I stop inhere from time to time for their lunch specials. Likes: Service is quick Soup is served hot Lunch plate served pipping hot The food quality is very good The staff are nice The place is clean Dislike: Would like to get both rice and chow mein noodles on my lunch plate. I realize that is my personal preference and I’m not discounting this in my review. I like having lunch here and will be back again !

We had a great experience tonight! 2 course meal could have fed 5 people. Best Chinese chicken salad in town. Service was top notch. Prices were fair given the quality & portions. The atmosphere was perfect for date night or family night. We are definitely coming back.

And again I feel compelled to leave another review attesting to how incredible the food and service are here. The owner, Lee, recently did a update to interior and now this place is even more enjoyable. Favorites are the chicken salad, mushu pork, Mongolian beef and countless others!!! Best place around for a great, quick and affordable dinner!!!

Hands down some of the worst honey walnut prawns I ever had. The prawns were so soggy due to the fact there was more sauce than meat. Never had salty honey walnut prawns either until now. To top it off the oil they used to fry the prawns tasted spoiled. I now feel physically sick after eating that stuff. Look away if you want good chinese food.

Okay Chinese food. Can’t think of too much to say. It was passable, but I wasn’t blown away by anything. There are better ones in the area.

This is a good neighborhood Chinese restaurant! The interior is pleasantly decorated, the staff is very friendly, and the food is reasonably priced. We have been here several times now and everything is always tasty. It is a place that we like to take friends to dinner. While the food is very good, it is almost on the verge of being great. In spite of this, it is still a good place to have a sit down Chinese meal, so I do recommend it. In particular: The Garlic Flavor Eggplant was very good. It had a nice sauce however the eggplant pieces were too large. They needed to be cut into smaller pieces to make it easier to eat and so each piece could absorb more of the wonderful flavor of the sauce. The Honey Orange Chicken was only a «B+». The sauce could have used a bit more spice. Good potential, but needs a tweak to be great.

The worst food ever!!! I did take out, my house maybe 2 minutes away, the food was cold, I order Chicken salad from the restaurant to my home lettuce was wilted. We tried to heat up and if smelled like it was old not fresh. I paid $ 60.00, for something not even my dogs would eat. I will never eat there again.

Unlike the last couple of weeks of hot-hot-hot temperature, the weather today is turning a little cold and sprinkly. This weather is screaming for some steamy and delicious Chinese food. How about a familiar place like Wonkee? or should we be adventurous and try out a new place? We picked the latter … and to avoid traffic, this place seems to be reasonably close; 14 min drive according to Google map. The restaurant locates in a strip mall on the corner of Branham Lane and Ross. There’s a Safeway and other establishments so the parking is abundant. The arrival time was 5:15pm and there was no other patrons except us. We got greeted with a friendly smiles and we can sit anywhere we want. We picked the stepped up area next to the window. It’s to the right of the fish tank as soon as you walked in. The first thing I noticed of this place is that it’s very tidy. That’s a good sign and I can’t wait to taste the food since I came with an empty stomach; didn’t have lunch today. Immediately, the waitress came by and gave us a pot of hot tea, ice water and the menu. Without losing her site, we put in an order of pot stickers right the way. Did I say I was hungry?! :) The appetizer came out in a flash! I haven’t finished my cup of tea and checked in with Unilocal yet and BAM, the pot stickers are presented — that’s a record for me. We put in our order for West Lake Beef Soup, Chinese Broccoli Beef, Cashew Chicken, and House Fried Rice. Did I say I was hungry?! HaH! The food quality here is edible if you are hungry like I was. The pot stickers were on the bigger size and the filling was just okay — not too much taste to it. The Broccoli Beef is my favorite dish and I’d like to order it whenever I get a chance. But for tonight at this place, it was disappointing. The sauce that comes with the Broccoli Beef is a not tasty and little on the salty side. The Chinese Broccoli itself is on the tougher side. The Cashew Chicken has the same sauce :(and the House Fried Rice had all the right ingredients without the right seasoning so it was kinda bland. Not a happy camper. The tab? Wait a minute. Do they do this to everyone or just that I looked Asian then they assumed I can read the tab with only Chinese characters on it. How can anyone know how the cost are tabulated? That is shady and by the way, the West Lake Beef Soup was supposedly $ 12.95 and we got charged $ 13.95. I was going to confront with the waitress but decided not to since it was only off by $ 1 — see that $ 13.95 on my pic of the tab and check out their website for the price. Oh well, it’s my last time here so I go ahead and give them that $ 1. For this many dishes, I can easily get away with $ 50 at Wonkee, where I can get the mouthwatering Chinese Broccoli Beef that I love so much. Fortunately, we do have a lot of leftovers and the waitress here did offer to pack for us, which was a nice gesture. But that’s not enough to change my mind about coming back here. Oh by the way, who said there’s free Kimchee appetizer offered here? We definitely didn’t get any and when I looked into their home page after I got home, it did say there are free Kimchee appetizer. So what does this mean? Out of Kimchee tonight? or it’s given out base on who is coming in? I have no clue and not going to come back to find out since it’s not worth it. All I can say is, $ 1 ripped off and no kimchee. Summation: Abundant parking, good portion, great/fast service, clean place, impressive trilingual owner(I think) who can speak English/Chinese/Korean but I can’t say the same for the food quality and the price. It’s really way overpriced for Chinese food and definitely not authentic.

Love this place! It’s a little pricey which is why we don’t come here that much but we aren’t ever disappointed. Shrimp and walnut, orange chicken, fried rice, garlic chicken (-star for price)

Love this place. The ladies are so friendly and attentive. The food is the best. Wait for it… They stopped turning on the AC last year. I just spent $ 27, tip included, on one chicken dish, small soup(not a cup), and steamed rice for one. Yeah, that’s hella expensive. But it’s really good, and I got a meal to take home. I sat and sweat. It was sad. Very hot day today, and no AC. Looks like take out from now on. I’ll miss dining in. Don’t you think at those prices they could kick down some cool sour? Oh yeah, I walked on at 8pm, and the place was empty. Any idea way? LoL

Today was my first time here for lunch. The place is very clean and organized smells delicious here. I ordered the lunch special chicken salad with sweet and sour soup. The chicken salad was amazing from the presentation of cilantro with peanuts to the taste was off the hook perfect .one of the best chicken salads I had in a long time. The sweet and sour soup had the perfect blend of sweet /sour to set the taste buds to popping. I really liked the thinly sliced bamboo shoots and mushrooms. The service was spectacular in three servers divide up the busy lunch rush so you were seated then served water and hot tea with your menu, ordered your food, they came back to check on you, then delivered food to you, checked on you again always with lots of smiles, wow done and out of there in less than a hour. I will defiantly be back here again for lunch.

I have eaten here several times and took to-go orders. If you ever wonder if they have party trays, they are able to do so for your party. They are also vegetarian friendly. So, if you feel like eating a certain dish, they can try and make it into vegetarian style. Dishes that I have tried so far: 1. chicken salad-pretty tasty, and fresh(great for parties) 2. spicy garlic wings-pretty good 3. fried rice-great for parties 4. soup noodles-good on a cold night. It has veggies, seafood, and meat. It can also be adapted to vegans and vegetarians. 5. zhao jiao mian-black bean noodles — not bad. It can also be adapted to be vegetarian too. 6. tofu-not bad, has garlic with chestnuts 7. green beans-crunchy and tasty *** Staff speaks Korean and Chinese. It is always open.*** Location is in the same plaza has the Safeway. Staff and owners are very friendly and nice too!

My family and I have been coming to Taste of China for well over a decade. The food is hit or miss. Sometimes, the same dish hits and misses on different occassions. The meal always begins with a complimentary serving of all-you-can-eat kimchi. I recommend the lunch special. It is a deal. It includes a serving of hot and sour soup, a side of chinese chicken salad, a healthy portion of rice or chow mein, and your choice of a dish, of which my favorite is the szechuan beef or chicken. My boyfriend prefers the sweet and sour pork, though they sometimes go overboard on the food coloring, giving it an unappetizing bright, gelatinous, red color. I also really like their hot and soup soup and the chinese chicken salad. The hint of horseradish makes the dressing unique, but is not overwhelming. One last thing I want to mention is that I was really disappointed at the service we received a few months ago. My family ordered on small side of rice because it’s our prerogative to do so. They served AND charged us for a large serving under the rationale that«four people need more rice.» They refused to reverse the charge. We really expected more from Taste of China after being such loyal customers. The acrimony and disappoinment over this incident lingers.
