Vegan Crab Ragoons: Yummy! Tastes like real crab & real cream cheese but is not! I do wish that there were more filling rather than a small amount of filling with the majority being the wonton. Salt & Pepper, with Fried Tofu: Pretty tasteless with very light salt & pepper seasoning. The side of brown sauce it comes with is a taste saver. Eggplant Delight, with Fried Tofu: Their«oyster» sauce is good. Their dishes are good but pretty bland.

If I could give this place more stars, I would! My family comes here at least 3+ times a month. I LOVE their Thai iced tea with almond milk and boba. I recommend this place to everyone I know. I find the atmosphere comforting and the staff here are so sweet.

Took a girl on a date here, really liked her and she was vegetarian so being considerate I brought her here. THISPLACERUINEDMYNIGHT. The food gave me god awful mud butt, I had to keep running to the bathroom with her asking me if everything was ok. Then when it came down to hanky panky time the party in my back door decided to really amp up and let’s just say it ended up being probably the most embarrassing night of my life with a girl.

I was super excited to check this place out because I was craving sushi in a big way — and as a gluten free vegan, my options at most authentic Japanese places is limited(plain avocado rolls with wasabi and tamari is my go-to). I was slightly frustrated that the entire menu is marked with GF or GFO suggestions EXCEPT the sushi menu. So I had some research to do… The place was busy, simple café style tables and a cool mural on the wall. We were seated by an older asian lady who was smiling and friendly, but didn’t seem to know much about«gluten-free». I had questions, and she kept running back to the kitchen to ask. After the third time(She first told me the dynamite roll was GF, then told me the crab had gluten. .needed a final consensus), she sent out another lady to answer some questions. We double checked all our info and were told that the«shrimp» was GF but the rest contained gluten. And alas we settled on 4 or 5 rolls to modify to fit the bill and were ready to order. In walks another young lady who was super attentive and helpful, and ensured that our order would be double checked by the chef and no gluten would be included. She assured us that the«crab» is gluten free, and had some sauce suggestions to replace the teriyaki, which has gluten. Super sweet and helpful — order was placed. So I’m still holding a 4 star rating at this point. Our food arrived(took some time but we knew that going in and it also said on the menu that sushi is made fresh to order. Score.) Our miso soups(not labelled GF but acutally were) came out with the rest of the meal — could have used them as an appetizer while we waited.(I’ve had MUCH better miso soups elsewhere — flavor seriously lacking and HUGE chunks of tofu). Our 4 rolls to share were: Philly roll sans teriyaki, yammon roll sans teriyaki, thai salad roll w/gf peanut sauce and dynamite roll, which was gluten free. Based on the COST of the food, the philly and the yammon rolls were total rip offs. They should really be baby rolls, they are so tiny. Definitely not a $ 6.25 value. The thai salad roll was alright, but not something I would want again — it had a summer roll flavor inside the rice with seaweed — strange fusion there but an experience! The dynamite roll was«weird» at first, followed by «delicious» and then back to weird… I’ll explain. I’m not too savvy on the fake meats, and to have a blob of «shrimp» that had the tender-crisp white«flesh» with red veins was a bit off-putting as a vegan. Now I can see where these products could appeal — I am just not the target audience for them. The house special sauce was delicious and initially the baked roll was weird and then we really got into it and by the last bite we were over the«luxury» of fake meat. Overall, I was excited to have the experience of vegan sushi but I’ll stick to a regular sushi place and order the veggie rolls. I had a tummy ache all night, and I think it was just a lot of ingredients my body is unaccustomed to. Might pop back in and try some Vietnamese dishes though! I’ll attach some menu photos because there are no complete menus on the internet.

This is our chosen place if we eat with folks who are vegan or vegetarian — the food here is pretty creative and tastes great! The tangy orange«chicken» hits the spot when you are hungry. Service is good too! :-)

Finally checked out this place. Lots of parking at the Clairemont Mesa Blvd location as it is located in a strip mall. So many items on the menu. It was difficult to decide on what to order. They have daily specials and today(Saturday) was $ 1 thai iced teas! Delicious. For an appetizer, we ordered the Vegan«crab» rangoons with dipping sauce. For dinner, caterpillar sushi roll as well as soft chow mein with vegetables. Will definitely come back to try other dishes. The place filled up real quick after we arrived. Our waitress was very polite and checked on us often.

Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! I’ve been coming to this place since it opened and then left San Diego for 10 years only to return and find my favorite restaurant still pushing out the best vegetarian cuisine in San D. It is my go-to restaurant for out of town guests to give them something they’ve never had before. My favorite is the ever-popular Thai Curry bowl with«chicken» and brown rice. I’ve never had a bad bowl and crave this. My mom will even request I get this for her when I visit since she’s two hours away in LA. Love the delicious Mango Iced Tea. And lastly, the service is always with a smile. Always! After all these years, they still enjoy cooking clean, FLAVORFUL healthy food for their customers. This place makes me happy :)

I felt I needed to update my review seeing as this was my 3rd visit. I had the Tangy Orange«chicken». The sauce was really flavorful, and having added broccoli made it taste all the better. I ordered a Thai iced tea as well with boba. It was alright(I can’t seem to stray away from this boba bar I go to frequently). The service is relatively fast and the staff is friendly. Tuesdays are Happy Hour all day(convenient for today’s visit). However the happy hour menu doesn’t have a whole lot to choose from. I plan on coming back, that way I can slowly try everything!

I love the food and staff here, except there’s an older asian lady who is VERY unwelcoming, and never came back to give us the check, take away any dirty dishes, offer to go boxes, or ask if we wanted anything else. She took our order, gave us our food, and that’s all we heard from her. I understand if there’s a language or cultural barrier, but she never smiles or seems to care at all. I’ll return or the bbq«chicken» and Chai Tea, and hopefully have Another server… The younger people are all so nice and friendly, but this lady just seems like she doesn’t want be there…

This was pretty good experience. I sort of felt unhealthy walking out but I think that was just what we ordered at the fact that we honestly ate way more than we should have. We don goofed. We got a sipz roll, sipz salad, and vegetarian drunken noodles. If you want to eat healthy, don’t order what we did. But if you’re looking for some vegetarian comfort food, go for it! Sipz roll was good, mostly because of the sauce. I think there was tofu in the sushi, but I couldn’t figure out the rest. Sipz salad was a nice crunchy salad with tofu and fried strip things lol. Drunken noodles were oily and yummy, perfect for eating while complaining with your best friend about her ex. Service was great! Our server was nice and friendly, she accidentally brought us the wrong dish, some fried wontons, but said that it was their fault and it’s on the house. Yum yum. Might come again if I’m in the area.

Calling Vegetarians, Vegans, Gluten free diets… Just found a Great place for lunch(or dinner)! They’re generous with their portions served in big heavy bowls and likely enough for leftovers later. All different types of fake protein options that even a meat lover might appreciate, or dishes heavier on the vegetable side. Expansive Asian fusion menu with hearty meals, happy hours, and various combos of family style dinners. I’d add to Unilocal description per their menu: Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Japanese… I guess that covers all the Asian countries? Ha! You get the idea… Menu includes good descriptions of the dishes. Spicy and Non Spicy options available. 5 is likely average. Dinner prices are about 1.45 more after 5pm. I ordered the spicy Thai curry bowl(yellow curry used), recommended by one patron as the best he’s tried. At level 6, it was pretty good, nice spicy kick but not killer. Nice and hearty, exactly what I’d expect. My friend ordered the spicy basil who’s not a big fan of too spicy, but 6 was manageable. Dish was very flavorful also. Service was fast and friendly. Super casual but good vibes here. Easy parking lot @ the Clairemont location. I’ll be back!

I was so excited to come to Sipz as a vegan/vegetarian consumer. I must say I was disappointed for a few reasons. I came at a time when the restaurant had only a few customers around 1:00pm. I was so impressed by the menu and so excited to dig in! I waited nearly 20 minutes before a waiter approached my table, and I could understand if they were short staffed. however, the waiter was standing two tables away having a lengthy conversation with what seemed like a friend. When it was finally time for me to order, I ordered my beverage and food. I didn’t recieve water or my beverage for another 20 minutes, so at this point I was pretty upset. My food was prepped and brought to me and guess what? it was cold. I was so excited to come here and I am giving three stars for the menu, but good service and warm food could’ve made it 4 – 5!

A legit place for the vegetarians and vegans alike. The best part about this place is the fact that they are always ready to customize your order, suiting your taste. I have been here 4 times and never dissapointed. Sipz truly knows how to cook with the fake meat. Read other reviews, a lot of meat eaters would agree. I ordered the Thai curry with noodles for the first time and Kung pap chicken for the second. Both were great dishes. And they do take their spice seriously, so order accordingly. Also, worth trying are their vegan cupckakes.

The food was great the service was great and the atmosphere was great! Our server Aluma was fantastic he is upbeat and energized and got us excited to try different meatless dishes. The music that was playing was fun too! The location isn’t very nice but as soon as you walk into the restaurant you feel like you have teleported to a different place. There are paintings on the wall and many smiling faces. The general tso entrée was delicious and I recommend the BBQ chicken appetizer! Had a great time will be returning again!

The food is fine. I mean it’s ok for vegan food. There are things there that are good. My issue is with the service(or lack thereof). We usually pick up food to go. We were quoted a 6:41 pickup time. We arrived at 6:45. After 20 minutes of waiting we asked about it. The lady said she would check on it and then disappeared. 10 minutes went by. Some other guy came out and asked if we had been helped yet. We said yes, that the woman was checking on it. Then we asked if by chance they had messed up or lost our order. He goes to check. He comes back 5 minutes later and offers us a desert. No apology. We ask how long til the order is out? He responds that it will be another 15 minutes. Why haven’t you started cooking it when I’ve talked to you 4 times already? He offered no apology and wasn’t helpful. He just said, «yeah, you’re right». I understand that things happen. But when you make a customer wait for 45 minutes after they were told to pick it up, at least say, «Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry.» But we were just ignored and the general response of apathy was enraging. My wife is too mad about the lack or response to even eat the food she waited so long for. We’re having burritos now. This isn’t the first time we’ve waited a very long time for pickup.

I’m a HUGE Sipz fan but this is actually my first time here at the clairemont Mesa one. I usually go to the one in north park but today I had a craving and decided to stop by and get some food. Vegetarian or not, you’ll love this place. They do a lot of imitation meats and it’s delicious. Shrimp, chicken, crab, beef all of the above. I usually go for the fried rice and«shrimp» here. They have a scale ranking spiciness from 1 – 10 but i am too much of a wienie so I go for the 1. Lol even then it’s still a little to much for me.(I’m Asian but my mom never let me experiment with spicy foods as a child because she feared I would break out and have bad skin but now all people do is make fun of me) ah well. I can’t blame mother. I have to say it’s such a good place. I am such a fan and being vegetarian is really easy with places like this. I gave 4 stars bc one of the servers seemed upset. I’m never really one to complain about«servers feeling down» because they could be having a bad day but I could definitely feel her negativity. I asked her how her day was and she replied«okay…» with an odd tone but its all good. I’ll leave it at that but the energy was off. Great food. Overall nice vibes. Will be back.

I was up to try a new place and chose this delightful place as it was close to where my girl friend lived. She got there first and got seating for both of us. Walking in, everything looked pretty cozy and simple. Lots of parking all around — had no problem whatsoever. I was in the mood for something I normally don’t have. Opening the menu, there were the daily specials — each for different days. For Sundays there are summer rolls I think for $ 4. And we decided to get a Appetizer Sampler for $ 11 to share. It was pretty relaxing catching up and eating. Summer rolls were fresh and tasty — came with peanut sauce in which was presented nicely. Appetizer Sampler had sweet potato fries, Egg Rolls, Spring Rolls, Pot Stickers, Fried Won Ton and two dipping sauces. Sweet potato fries — DELICIOUS, very nice and crisp when dipping into the sweet and sour sauce. Pot Stickers and Fried Won Ton were delightful — the crispyness as well as the taste of the ingredients within was not too salty but very full of greens. Spring rolls were the same as the summer rolls that we had ordered. We both also got mango ice tea which was refreshing. Grabbed one of their menus on the way out as I wanted to definitely try out more the next time I went. Lists their goals, history, dining, prices, and cooking style. Very simple and to the point. Briefly some points taken from the take out menu in the next paragraph below. «Sipz originally came about from a small coffee/boba tea shop opened by „Win“ and Sylvia Le. Eventually in time it grew with the help of their long time friends and employees and more popular and tasty delightful vegetarian dishes came about. Their menu is 100% vegetarian(they only use soy meat or tofu) with a fusion of Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese and Japanese in their dishes. All of their dishes have their own special taste due to selectively chosen ingredients. Prices are also served at specific prices — meals served in a bowl with main bowls and noodle dishes $ 8.55 for lunch; $ 9.95 for dinner. Sipz promotes the healthy vegetarian lifestyle by providing the healthiest and tastiest vegetarian dining possible.» Definitely will be coming back to try the other dishes. The only downside was that the vegan sushi is only served after 5PM… but that just means I need to come back to taste!

I like Sipz, but there’s a few things I wish they’d change. First, the food is not that healthy. They use MSG in their food. MSG adds flavor, but is highly toxic for the brain.(Google it and you’ll see). MSG is used in Asian food to add flavor, but in reality, good recipes don’t need flair enhancements. Try asking for no MSG in your food there, and you find it is bland and tasteless. My Pad Thai with no MSG tasted very plain. They also use white sugar. Another poison not usually found in true vegan restaurants. For a vegan restaurant, I’d expect healthy food, not poison in my food. Second is their food quality is never consistent. One day my dish might have onions and carrots in it. Then the next time I order the same dish is has onions and broccoli in it.(This is only an example) But when ordering the same dish here, it’s not always consistent. Any other vegan restaurant I’ve eaten at is usually health conscious. But to an uneducated public, they wouldn’t know MSG and white sugars’ toxic affects, but I would expect a «vegan» restaurant to know this. With so many other delicious vegan restaurants in SD now, there are much better tasting ones, and they don’t use MSG or white sugar.

Amazingly tasty vegetarian hot spot. Great for everyone to enjoy. Even non vegetarian friends and family will love this place. Delicious healthy food yummy desserts, nice atmosphere and excellent service each time I came here. I especially love how they let you decide what level of heat you want for your noodles. The mango iced tea is such a treat. I cant wait to come back and visit again.

On my plane ride back to Norfolk from San Diego, I left my cellphone in the bathroom of the Philadelphia airport. All of the delicious photos of food I experienced at Sipz are gone. GONE. Who knows when I’ll be back… Who knows? Maybe true love will find a way? Idk, lol. Anyway~ My Godmother was visiting me while I was in San Diego(which was a treat by itself — love you, Godmother!) and she’s a vegetarian. I envied how much positive energy she has, so I decided to digest some positive yumminess at Sipz. Sipz is an awesome little veg*n spot, nestled in the corner of a small shopping plaza. If you have this address, your GPS is going to get super confused and take you around the block a few times because this place is hard to pinpoint. Took us five minutes of driving around in circles to finally find it. Make sure to update your GPS! Our server was really nice and explained the menu since we had never been there before. Everything stayed within the $ 10 and below range. She also did a good job of juggling the tables since hordes people came in for dinner out of nowhere. I can’t remember the day we visited, but they were doing $ 1.00 mango teas! Was it really tea? No, more like juice, but it was still tasty. We started with a pork(or prok as I say since it’s not really meat) bun and spring roll app. Soooo good! The dough around the prok was soft and fluffy with a slight sweetness. The crisp of the spring rolls was just right, not too greasy or limp. For our mains, I had the Tom Kah with tofu and mushrooms on the highest level of spicy. It wasn’t very spicy to me, but I liked it. The lemongrass was a really nice touch and brought the dish together perfectly. My Godmother ordered the Spicy Basil, but not too spicy. It was super fragrant and almost had a medicinal scent. Healthy! We both thoroughly enjoyed our food and were stuffed to the brim, but we had to get dessert! Carrot cake for her. Stuffed coconut without peanuts for me. Did you know how my eyes lit up when I saw them bring over a whole coconut to the table? I about fell out of my chair. It’s such a good feeling to walk out of a restaurant with a tummy full of good-for-you foods. It’s amazing and I’m soooo happy my Godmother recommended this. I honestly don’t know when I’ll be in San Diego again, but Sipz will be my first stop! Thank you so much!

I love Asian vegetarian restaurants. I was craving some Vietnamese vegetarian food in Little Saigon, Orange County but I didn’t want to drive that far. So, I had to settle for something closer to home which is why I was here. Now, I haven’t tested yet to see if I need a gluten free diet but yes, I’m one of those crazy people who likes eating gluten free. The thing with Asian vegetarian restaurants is that, they either use tofu or «seitan» for meat substitutes or protein. What’s «seitan?» Well, it’s the least gluten free food in the planet because seitan IS gluten. Tofu on the other hand, is gluten free. Also, Asian vegetarian restaurants tend to add soy sauce or teriyaki for extra flavoring. Those two are not gluten free as well. What I like about this restaurant is that the menu lists if the food is gluten free or if you can ask for a gluten free option. That’s a huge plus. I ordered a vegan sushi(Avokappa roll), a Vietnamese sweet and sour soup, and an Avocado smoothie with boba. The Avokappa roll was pretty good. I’m a huge fan of avocado which is why I loved this dish. Also, the seaweed(nori) that was on it was awesome. The Vietnamese sweet and sour soup was the bomb. I definitely loved the flavor on this one. Not only is this gluten free but it’s also filling. I would definitely recommend this one. The Avocado smoothie with boba was heaven. I felt like I was in heaven drinking this stuff. As I’ve mentioned before, I love avocados. Now, the con of this restaurant is that, it’s really pricey but you know that saying, «you get what you pay for.» I liked the interior of this restaurant. It’s a combination of Asian and contemporary and it’s massive in scale. The night I was here, I noticed that most of the customers were beautiful especially the ladies(I’m not a creep, it’s just an observation: p) So, I’d recommend this joint if you want to try something new. I had a great experience, I’ll definitely be back

LOVE this place. LOVE this place. I’ve been going here for almost 10 years since I became a vegetarian. This is my go-to place to take non-vegetarians who are open to trying out vegetarian food. I’ve never had anyone not like it. The Thai Curry Chicken is THEBEST. Seriously delicious. If I could only eat three foods for the rest of my life, the order goes: raspberries, frosted shredded wheat, and Sipz’ THAICURRYCHICKEN!

I’ve ordered delivery here before but am glad I finally went to the restaurant to sit down and eat. It’s located in the Madison Square Shopping Center right off the Claremont Mesa Blvd exit by the 805. It serves only vegan/vegetarian food and it’s darn good. I ordered the BBQ«Pork» Bun, Tangy Orange«Chicken», and a Mint Float with Soy Ice Cream. Everything was delicious. It doesn’t even matter that it’s not real meat because it’s yummy and I can’t nitpick about that. The float was a refreshing end to the meal. Almost like a palate cleanser. I look forward to coming here again since it’s so close to my place.

This place was really bad. I was super hungry coming here and literally anything would have tasted good but it was so bad that I didn’t even finish half of my food. As someone who is not vegetarian, I was a little hesitant coming here, but thought I’d give it a try since there were so many good reviews. I had the Fusion Roll, Pad Thai with chicken, and Thai curry with chicken. — The fusion roll, even though it was on the happy hour menu for $ 4, was not worth it at all. It was 2 normal/kinda small sized pieces cut in half to give you the illusion that it was more than it was. Also, it had too strong of a lemongrass taste. –The Pad Thai with chicken was okay, but don’t get this if you are expecting anything that tastes remotely like normal Pad Thai. — The Thai Curry was the absolute worst. It was super sweet and weird tasting. I don’t even know how to describe it but it was the worst curry I’ve ever tried. I’m super disappointed and sad that I wasted money coming here. I don’t mind the mock meat– I just think the taste of the food is just really off and not well balanced.

Already over in Clairemont i had to try Sipz as i had heard great things and it was on my list of vegetarian/vegan places to dine. Being a Tuesday happened to be the best coincidence possible, as they have All Day Happy Hour on Tuesdays. Aka this meant i was able to get a full appetizer and entrée for only $ 11 total! I enjoyed the Fusion rolls appetizer, which had vegetarian«beef» that was very flavorful. However, i wish they would have had slightly less lettuce inside and more of the other fix-ins. For my entrée, i had the Veggie Surprise with Tofu and brown rice. Although this was essentially a veggie stir-fry, the flavorful sauce and tofu made up for it. I wish i knew how to make tofu like Sipz, because it was textured, flavored, and almost crunchy on the outside while being creamy on the inside. Delicious! Was an excellent solo dining experience.

I’m staying in the hotel literally right next door to this place so I thought why not? I knew it was supposed to be a healthy, vegetarian spot but I didn’t know that it was full on vegetarian & vegan. This is would be my first time ever trying out imitation meat and not gonna lie, I was a lil weirded out by it. When you first go in, you’ll notice that it has a wide open area, a cute lil bakery right near the door, and colorful décor everywhere. On the menus, they have discounts every day of the week. On the day my husband and I went, we had discounts on certain appetizers and drinks so we took advantage of it by ordering crispy potstickers and thai tea. The potstickers were delicious but the thai tea was weak. I’ve had much better. For our entrees, I got the thai curry which was super flavorful and it *almost* masked the fact that I was eating fake chicken. My husband ordered these crispy noodles with vegetables on top. The noodles were addicting! I must make them at home someday soon but the totally nonvegan version, and unhealthy as can be — it will be amazing. For dessert, we ordered the mango sticky rice which was everything delicious! Again, another recipe I have to recreate at home. Overall, the flavors of the dishes were great, everything was cooked well, the only thing that majorly turned both of us off was the fake meat. So, we prolly wouldn’t go back just because of that, unless I have vegan/vegetarian friends coming into town and I don’t think any of my friends are soooo… yeah. BUT, if you are, definitely check this place out. Very, very yummy.

Today while sitting in the doctors office I decided to Unilocal near by restaurants for quick lunch ideas. There were a number of choices but I chose Sipz Vegetarian Fuizon Café it had a healthy sound to it. This is not a fancy white linen table cloth restaurant. It’s simple in its design with ceiling fans, basic table and chairs, non carpet floors plain but roomy. The hostess and server where friendly and we were able to be seated right away. The prices were reasonable lunches are $ 8.25 dinners $ 9.95 with a list of other vegetarian items priced separately(etc drinks, desserts and appetizers). I ordered the Mongolian«Beef» lunch and since I was paying for my lunch with cash I was able to get the«Mango Ice Tea«free. It was perfect not to sweet, cold and refreshing. My lunch was so tasty, juice beef, chucks of pepper, onions carrots served on top of vermicelli noodles with a side of brown rice a delicious meal. With each bite you could taste spicy, sweet flavors with just the right amount of seasonings, it was so good This is a 100% vegetarian fuzion café they only use soy meat or tofu. Most of the appetizers, entrees, and all of there desserts are vegan(no dairy and no egg). I am not a vegetarian and for a moment I truly thought I was eating beef, because it was so tender, juicy and flavorable. This was a great vegetarian experience thanks to Unilocal and Unilocalers, I would never had found this place. Several of there dishes are GF=Gluten Free or GFO= Can Be Made Gluten Free You decide on the spicy level of your meal, mild, medium or hot. There is a lot to choose from on the menu: Appetizer Bowlz, Soup Bowlz, Salad Bowlz, Noodle Bowlz, Main Bowlz, Side Orders, Vegan Sushi and Drinkz. On a negative note we were there at lunch time and they only had two servers and they were pretty busy. When the server brought me chop sticks he just carried them in his hand, I would have preferred them to by wrapped in some way.
