I saw this restaurant when I was driving to UTC. I got really excited when I saw this because of the name(Ha Noi is the capital of Vietnam and it’s in the northern part of the country) I love northern Vietnamese food and Vietnamese restaurants serving northern food is rare in San Diego(most Vietnamese Americans come from the southern part of Vietnam). I was hoping they’d have«bun cha ha noi«but they didn’t(that’s the food president Obama ate with Anthony Bourdain in Vietnam). I was disappointed but I was hungry so I ordered rice vermicelli with grilled pork and shrimp and I also ordered the charbroiled pork spring rolls. I gotta say, they were very tasty; I enjoyed it very much. But the calories are lacking. Be careful, you’ll be hungry really fast if you’re very active like me. So if you want more legit northern Vietnamese food, you’ll be disappointed. They told me they don’t have bun cha ha noi on the menu because it’s not mainstream. They only serve Vietnamese food that many people are familiar with

Great food. Kris and the gang know me and know my usual order. Everybody is always given a friendly greeting, great food, and great service. I have lunch there once a week or so. Parking can be tight, but, if you play your cards right, you might luck into a spot right in front.

The phở here is delicious! The broth is excellent, very flavorful and it felt like it didn’t have a lot of MSG because I wasn’t thirsty afterwards. The portion was good, not too much meat like some places I can barely finish. Price is reasonable, although I’ve been to cheaper phở places, the broth definitely makes up for it. It’s a hole-in-the-wall place that is a must! Will definitely be coming back!

Today was my wife and I’s first visit there for lunch and I’ll start by saying we’ll be back for sure! ! !. To start with we shared some fresh shrimp spring rolls and pork spring rolls and they were right on the money and really hit the spot. We also shared the vegetable chow mien plate and it was nothing short of excellent ! ! ! !.. . Can’t wait to come back for some Phở and Bum next visit ;o)

Definitely go here. Looks like a well established joint — so you know the food is legit. Love that this place is a close proximity to work. There are many up and coming restaurants on Miramar Road so this area has the potential to satisfy your palate. The cost of food and quality are excellent. Ingredients were fresh and very flavorful. I normally taste my food without added sauces(yes, bland, at first) so I can enjoy the actual ingredients. If the veggies or other natural ingredients have no taste… then it’s a waste of calories. I add the sauces or herbs after to enhance the flavor. Customer service is also great. I was greeted right away. Love how this venue gives you a cozy feel. Perfect for the May gray/June gloom weather.

This place is DELICIOUS and affordable. We were greeted by Chris, who is the owner and uses family recipes to make really wonderful phở. She was able to accommodate my weird dietary wishes(beef broth with shrimp pieces instead of sliced beef) and it was affordable too. Service was quick(she kept the water glasses full!) and we only waiting 5 minutes for a piping hot bowl of phở to be delivered. Best phở I’ve ever had!

The service was excellent and the food was great. Our server was very attentive. She made sure we had what we needed and checked to make sure everything was ok once we got our meal. It was not very busy on a weekday for lunch but the parking lot was busy. I will definitely go back again.

It’s ok. Wait is kinda long. Then ordered phở, eggrolls and a bbq beef rice dish. It took about 15 – 20 min to get the phở. Which shouldn’t be the case. Phở should be quick especially if that’s your specialty and its lunch time. It was ok. Nothing great. The eggrolls are good. Crispy. The bbq beef was disappointing. Lack of flavor. Def need to add fish sauce to flavor. All and all it was ok.

This place was incredibly good! I was so impressed with the phở, spring rolls and noodle dishes. I go regularly just because of how great it is! Management is kind and always helpful with the menu. I would recommend this spot to everyone! The best part about all their dishes is how«clean» they are. You don’t feel gross after and it feels fresh and wholesome.

Yummy Phở with NOMSG! The owner is super nice and health conscience. Family owned restaurant and a STRIVE San Diego partner which means that the owner has a low sodium and low fat dish(es). Ask them about it!

First off, I’ve always liked this place. Straight up good, consistent phở. Then last night happens. Torrential rain knocks out the street lights and turns miramar road into a parking lot. After staring at the restaurant from the road for 25 minutes I turn in. They have no power but they’re still willing to serve me(gas stove, just no lights). The phở is the perfect answer to the rain and a far better alternative to traffic. The manager even let me recharge my phone using his own personal charger. Last night was a horrible commute and could have made for a horrible night, but these guys totally bailed me out. Thanks guys! Can’t wait to come back.

Portion is a bit smaller than normal for a large however it’s cheaper as well. 7 – 8 bucks compared to 9 – 10 at other stores. Phở is average

Pretty good. I’m Vietnamese and grew up in Orange County, so when I moved down here to start school at UCSD, I was really upset about San Diego’s lack of quality Asian food(in comparison to that of OC). I like this place because it’s near campus and is pretty affordable. If you’re Asian, you know how it goes – the ghettoer the place, the better the food. I would say this is one of those places. I’ve only ever tried the phở thai(they don’t have filet mignon unfortunately) and I really liked the soup. The portions are a bit smaller, but it’s enough to keep you content. I got nem nuong Rolls here once, and it was alright… Wouldn’t get them again though. I would just come here for the phở. Haven’t tried anything else though.

I had the Ha Noi House Special Rice Dish and the Spring Rolls. While everything was pretty tasty, the portions were pretty small. Considering I was still fairly hungry after eating the two items and they, plus tip, rang in at nearly $ 20, I’d say I didn’t quite get the bang for my buck. The guys who were working were really nice and I would come back happily if I could afford it(and if I was only slightly hungry).

ok place if you are craving phở around this area. The broth was pretty good, not too salty and not too sweet. The portions are a bit small and they don’t give you much meat. The sauce for the nem nuong(2 rolls for $ 3.99) was a little sour. It could get a little loud with all the«birds» flying overhead, since you are in Miramar. Doesn’t seem to get too crowded during lunchtime(I noticed most people do take out).

Went in today for take out. The Spicy Beef salad is great, however it’s not that spicy. I had to add some additional sauce to it. This is a whole in the wall place, but it’s pretty darn good. I will be back to have a real meal.

My husband has been wanting to come here since we love northern style Vietnamese food. Very Very nice service. As soon as we came in, we were seated. They brought out menues and water right away, and were back to take our order within minutes. From the time they left with our order to the time our phở came out felt less than 1 minute. Unfortunately, the phở was not good. The noodles were extra hard, and not chewy. The meat was super dry. The broth was sweet, with not much depth. If we were to come back, I would steer away from the phở and maybe try one of their other dishes. 2 bowls of phở and a soda came out to $ 16.

Top notch customer service.**** Friendly and Consistent Minus stars for parking… Find parking in the BACK! Had some work in the area so thanks to Unilocal, found this mom&pop shop today! Not too busy, so understandably they’re not waiting by the door ready to plop down your bowl of phở.(Personally find those places scary. More chance of having someone’s thumb rinsed in your soup. Haha) We ordered: –Pipping hot egg rolls. As good as my auntie’s. –iced coffee no condensed milk(I like it strong! –spicy beef salad. I know it says spicy in the name, but really it wasn’t spicy. I enjoyed it anyway. Plenty of beef and extra sauce on the side. –beef stew with noodles. Full of flavor! –phở #12, I hear it was good too. No thumb rinsing.(BF’s mom makes her own at home. So I’m sure she’s a decent judge.) If you have the time, give them a chance. This might be your new Phở-fix joint! :)

Yes, I have an Asian Food Fetish. I thought it would be cured with my recent trip to Australasia — nope — got worse. So based on the 49 extremely positive reviews, here to give it a shot. The place is small and it can be difficult to find parking. The service was very friendly, but the order came out slow compared to other places that I’ve been(see checkin list). Spring Rolls were decent — lacking carrots. However, the hoisin dipping sauce was a bit watery. The broth was unusual in that it was sweeter than the more traditional places — and it was super lean. Like very little phat in my phở. Not bad — just different. I think it could use a bit more anise. My overall impression — this is very American-ized Vietnamese Restaurant. Not at all like the traditional Phở places. This is the type of place you take other people that are unfamiliar with the wonders of Vietnamese Food. There are things that seem a bit off to me. It’s decent — I just don’t think a 4 star rating. I’d give them a B-, respectable — but I know better places to get a better bowl of Phở.

I come here once a week during my lunch break, and it’s a pleasant place to come to. The best part is that the staff, though small, is extremely attentive, polite, and quick. I get in and out really fast and they get it right every time. They check in frequently and you’ll never not have what you need.

Wow! So happy to have found Phở Ha Noi. Miramar Rd. has limited Asian food options, so when I visited Abbey’s BBQ, I saw Phở Ha Noi a few doors down in the same center behind Taco Fiesta/Denny’s. Hospitable inviting owner and family making excellent phở and numerous other delicious styles of Vietnamese food. The phở is very tasty, super fresh greens, excellent thin slices of Tai, fish sauce available to douse the rare steak with along with lime juice. Along with the traditional steak, chicken and shrimp the have a very nice house special soup with added broccoli, carrots, onions and lots of meaty goodness. Their Bun meals are also a tasty hit. Rice and vermicelli noddle all tasty and expertly prepared. The honey grilled Pork w egg rolls is excellent too. Giant pint glass sized Iced Coffee,. What’s not to like? Check out Phở Ha Noi– a great tasty healthy option when in the area!

I thought I knew everything about Vietnamese food. That is, until I went to Phở Ha Noi. The name suggests that they are all about Phở, but the restaurant is so much more. They do food differently than your run-of-the-mill Viet joint. My favorite thing to eat there is the charboiled pork(Nem Nuong) spring rolls. The pork has a nice flavor. In addition to having a pleasantly soft texture, it has a crunchy component that I haven’t seen in a spring roll before. The freshness of the herbs and veggies rounds out this great dish. If there is one item that people must try, it’s the spicy beef salad. It’s not that spicy, and the beef is tender and nicely marinated. I can’t tell what’s in the dressing, but its delicious. I don’t really like salad, but this one I can eat over and over again. I can’t end this review without mentioning their Phở. Its definitely top 2 for me. It’s nicely seasoned with a bit of sweetness. What’s really cool and unique about this Phở is that it comes with nutritional labels! Mind blown. If I were to watch what I eat(which I don’t unfortunately), it’s good to know that an order of Phở with flank steak will run you about 650 calories. Not bad for a good sized meal. Plus, they say they don’t use MSG in their food. At about 451mg of sodium per serving of Phở, I’m inclined to believe it. I’ve tried quite a few items at Phở Ha Noi and needless to say, I like eating here. If you’re looking for a different type of Vietnamese food with an honest spin to it. Check this place out.
