My go-to thai place — quick and delicious. Spicy scale from 1 – 10 to control the heat. Try asking for an 11 :)

This place is great and if you live in PB its nice to find a place that is clean, has great service and is not too crowded. This is my fav not that Ivory Thai moved and up the prices. The pang yang is aswsome and so is teh fried rice. % Stars

Had to update last night after a disappointing meal. Jack’s got bought and is now called«Tweety Thai». Had I known this when ordering takeout I would have just given up on my Thai food and movie and gone with a microwave pizza. The food is AWFUL. Granted I was disappointed that it wasn’t the usual ownership, but they’ve changed the menu and they’ve definitely changed the recipes. None of my food was seasoned properly; it tasted like crappy bland Chinese food, not remotely Thai at all. I used to order here once every couple of weeks, now I won’t be going back.

Lunch specials are a great deal! The Pad Thai tasted just right, large portion, the green curry with beef was as good as what I have had in Thailand, the soup with the special was very nice, and the service was excellent. Pleasant attractive little gem. $ 5.95 gets you a very nice meal compared to paying more for a sandwich and sitting outside next to the parking lot like restaurants nearby.

We head here for the great lunch specials. Having recently been to Thailand we are in search for some impeccable reminders of our time spend in that magnificent country! We found a close second. Jack’s Thai Spices is a friendly reminder of Thai culture– through the owner who always greets you with an adorning smile and the common Thai attentiveness. Lunch specials get you a chicken, beef, or pork entrée accompanied by soup or salad and a crispy spring roll for $ 5.95! A great deal for a heap of great food. I typically order the Panang Curry or the Spice Noodles, both and all dishes are fabulous! Seriously, go check out this hidden gem.(located in the corner of the Von’s shopping center on Garnet, behind Starbuck’s and Jamba Juice)

I went here once. I ordered my food to go, 20 minutes before they closed… so there. The waitress was super nice. The food was TERRIBLE. The chicken had no flavor and was really rubbery. It did not taste like authentic Thai. It tasted like garbage. If you are in PB, you are better off going to Thai Village on Mission which is the BEST in San Diego anyway!

I like this place a lot, but I don’t want to pretend that I’m some sort of Thai aficionado. However, I love their pad thai with chicken. Huge portion, tons of meat, what’s not to like? We always get takeout, so I can’t comment on eating in. Only bummer is that delivery is a $ 30 minimum.

The Panang curry is not as tasty. The Thai iced coffee is not as strong as it should be. And there’s this fly that kept on bothering us. They do ask you how spicy you want ur dish. What’s the point of having a spicy dish if the dish is bland. Their Pad Thai doesn’t taste anything. The tom yum goong is not sour enough. The restroom is bit dirty too.

My fiancé and I scheduled a cake tasting at Starbucks in PB and since PB is notorious for lacking parking and that’s a pet peave of the fiancé, we decided to eat at Jack’s because it was next door. We ordered the bowl of tom yum, sweet basil with steamed sole, and spicy noodles. The tom yum was good, but it was missing the lemongrass zest that i am used to. The steamed sole was a large serving and the sole was delicious, sweet, and moist. The spicy noodles lacked flavor though and was loaded with bamboo shoots more so than the noodles. One praise: I asked for spicy level 10 and it actually tasted/felt like a 10! Service was great, but there are better thai places to go to. If you happen to be in the area though, it wouldn’t be a bad option.

Mucho Caliente! I love Jack’s. My girlfriend and I go here sometimes, and I have learned order your rice spice level lower than the noodles. The rice for some reason holds the heat from spice more than others. And from what I was told, if your not of asian descent, they will put your order lower than you request. If you order a 8, they;ll give you a 5 or 6. The food rocks. The beef are nice strips and full of flavor. Nice and tender. The shrimp were plentiful and yummy! I love coming here.

Jack’s has fallen off a bit as of late. I love that they don’t skimp on the spice — you ask for a 7, you get a 7. And the food is generally pretty good compared to a lot of the mediocre Thai in the area. They’re starting to skimp, though. I ordered an entrée noodle soup with shrimp, and ended up with four, tiny, overcooked shrimp hidden in a sea of rice vermicelli. Kinda disappointing. Jack’s used to be my place but not so much anymore.

The first time I had food from here was takeout. My friend ordered a 10 on the spicy scale for me because he claimed that he always orders a 10 but it never comes spicy enough. The pad thai was basically noodle with a little bit of egg covered in chili powder. It had no flavor what so ever and just burned my mouth. I gave it a second try and it wasn’t bad. We ordered a calamari noodle soup that was 13 dollars and had about 3 pieces of calamari in it. The curry fried rice wasn’t bad and the red curry had some flavor to it. It wasn’t too busy so the service was good. It’s a nice clean place, but the food is nothing special.

This place was a mediocre Thai place, in my opinion. It did not stand out in any way whatsoever. The menu was just about the same as you would find anywhere, and I thought the food was expensive relative to the quality and portion size. The atmosphere looked like someone had put a fair amount of effort into it, but I did not find it particularly attractive. Service was perfectly fine but not outstanding. The best aspect of this place? Convenient location in P.B. on a major road, in a little shopping plaza where I’ve always been able to find parking without much trouble. But that’s not enough to get me to come back when there are so many great restaurants in town.

The ambiance is awesome(very beautiful), great service w/a smile, AWESOME food… yummmm** and all for an AWESOME price. It sure beats spice & rice(in downtown La Jolla) on price alone. & it’s just as good! I’m always surprised that I’ve never seen it packed. We’ve tried many items on the menu, all of which are very delicious. — pad thai — pad see yui — cashew chicken — beef & oyster sauce(I think that’s the name? DELICIOUS!) — broccoli & beef & best of all, it’s ALLHEALTHY(@ least healthier than other options) LOVE it!

follow-up: After I could barely eat the chicken I called to ask if this was normal. They called me twice to apologize and explain this was not normal offering a free meal. Score. However my taste bud were trembling. Had the Green Curry in the outdoor seating area, good food. Chicken was perfect, tofu was good, and the green sauce was good flavor. Not as good as World Curry, but still good. NOTE. On the 1 – 10 spice scale. 3 is still pretty hot.

Went during the day on a weekday for lunch. The place was D-E-A-D, but thats cool, get my food faster, yeah. The restaurant is much nicer inside than you would expect for it being tucked away in a strip mall in PB. They have cool stuff on the walls and classy tableware. I placed an order to go and the hostess/cashier was extremely friendly. I had my food within 10 minutes. Pad-see-iw with shrimp for around $ 10. I ordered a 4⁄5 on the spicy scale. Went home to enjoy my meal… it was pretty good. Not amazing, but not bad by any means. Could have been a little spicier, and I would have preferred more veggies. Bonus, they deliver!

I do not see how this place got such good ratings. I went there because the reviews were so good. i ignored the fact that it is in a shopping center(next to Von’s, behind Starbuck’s). We got there at 6:30, and there was only one other table that had people. I should have taken that as a sign. the décor is somewhat cheesy, and haphazard — has a couple signs taped up in the door, and there was a daddy long legs in the bathroom. Not as bad as a cockroach, but still. the Tom Khar soup was actually really good, and pretty filling. i ordered a 2 on the spiciness scale, and it was flavorful and really spicy for a 2. So i ordered a 1 for the curry, thinking it would be just a little less spicy than the soup. but it was bland, and watery — the same consistency as broth. the pineapple and other vegetables were canned. i was VERY disappointed, because i had high hopes after the soup, not to mention the RAVE Unilocal reviews that i had read an hour prior… the service started out ok, but ended poorly. the soup came out quickly, but the drinks we ordered didnt come out until maybe 10 minutes later. After waiting for at least 15 minutes, we had to go up and ask for a to go box and the check. i wouldnt go here again unless it was free… and i was reimbursed for mileage and gas.

I went to this restaurant last night. We had the pot stickers, pad thai, traditional soup, and another dish I do not remember the name right now. It was all great. The soup was spicy and the vegetables were fresh and crisp. The pad thai was fantastic. The dish I do not remember the name of was very good too. We ordered too much food, the pad thai or the other dish with the soups and stickers would have been enough. They played some sad sounding music though and it was kind of loud. I did not really like that. I like to be able to concentrate on my conversation and food, and that attempt at atmosphere kind of distracted from that experience. I think music is a good idea, but it should be very low, so it doesn’t distract. P.S. I went back yesterday, 1÷26÷08. Why did I wait so long? Why? What is my problem. The spring rolls were just incredible. My friend got some green curry dish with shrimp. And I had the pad Thai again. Then we finished it with the mango with sticky rice. Heaven, pure heaven. I am giving them another star. I have to go to this place every week from now on.
