Nice grass. Nice hill. Nice views. A good place to chill, picnic and relax after a Pads game. Lots of room for the kids to play. Give yourself about an hour here then the post-game traffic should die down.

The Park at the Park is a pretty cool place. Granted, I normally just use it as a short cut, but still, I enjoy being able to see inside the stadium. I see people enjoying their lunches inside of it all the time and the mini-park is cool. One word of warning: take heed from the previous review and don’t sit, lay, roll around, or otherwise come into physical contact with the grass. This is downtown so a grassy place to walk the dog is at a premium and I can promise you that no matter where you choose to sit, lay, etc., you’ll be resting your behind on about a dozen puddles of doggie urine from that day alone.

East Village Square or «Park at the Park», as some call it, is the greatest urban park of the city. Set just beyond the 396′ mark in center field, Park at the Park is an urban oasis from the busy street life of East Village. Lil’ Tommy, our Yorkshire, wakes me up every morning with a grunt; translation: It’s time to go to the park!!! My wife rolls over, meaning I need to get him out. We walk down the block and a half towards the J Street entrance, stopping by Its A Grind for my «Large Black», and then head toward the park. East Village Square has a good size playground on the north end, with rubber surfacing to keep the kids from getting banged up. It is surrounded on the North, East and West by buildings, with quickly filling retail space, and bordered by Petco Park to the south. If you find yourself in downtown San Diego visiting, or live in SD and need a dog friendly park to let your dog run(as long as he/she is well behaved), drop in our neighborhood any time, and see for yourself; The best urban park in the city.
