Great food, great atmosphere. PITCHERS! everything is very good here. The only thing that I find really odd about this place is the number of kids here. Like little little kids. I know they serve food, but I would basically classify this as a Bar first, restaurant second. But sure enough, every time I am there I think«Who’s bringing a baby to the bar?!» Definitely make it to this place… but leave your baby at home

My second favorite place to go in San Diego for a good drink and food. Can’t beat how laid back and chill the feel is around here. They’ve got lots of quirky stuff on the walls and a bunch of old movies that they can pop in for you if you ask. Always an excellent beer selection available and the pizza is also delicious. I could literally eat the fries here all day(truffle oil with parm) if it would not give me a heart attack lol.

I had heard a lot about this place, as it is listed on the craft beer tour list for tap houses in San Diego. I headed there this Saturday afternoon, in search of a good vibe, pizza and beer. I wanted to be impressed. But I had a mixed experience. The place itself is a good vibe. Lots of great decorations with old skateboards. there is a variety of individual and community seating. The beer list is small — but unique and a lot of keg pours. They also serve their own Automatic Brewing beers. My grump about this place was the service and casual approach to the food. My pizza took over 35 minutes to come out. I had already finished off one beer — and had to get in line to get the second. The staff there does not seem«urgent.» Just 5 people in line to get a beer took nearly 15 minutes. I appreciate that they want to answer questions. But with only two people pouring beer, you just get tired of standing in their lines. The pizza — was better than average. Pizza is a personal thing — and everyone has their style. This is a very crust heavy /topping light pizza. Their famous sausage pizza had scant pieces of sausage. They are definitely in the camp of subtle over tasting the ingredients. It feels a bit like the pizza you had when you were in college — and wanted to fill up on cheaper pizza that was mostly crust. And ok — may $ 14 is a cheaper pizza. But in these days of less carbs and more tastes — I am not sure this is one of the best in San Diego. It might be a perfect pizza for Normal Heights. A lot of people seemed to be ordering salads. It was a heavy veg place. And a lot of kids and babies(5:00 on a Saturday afternoon). And I found it odd that they allowed a group of people at a table to bring in Pabst in a bag(one each for the whole table) as they played games, and as long as they ordered a salad. It is that kind of place. It may be a perfect place for you. Just not my style. I really wanted to like this place. But it just seemed to lack the passion over food and service that I wanted to experience.

Really fun atmosphere. We’re wine drinkers and got a varietal we’ve never had. A really nice white wine. Could not resist the roasted wild mushroom pizza. 5 different shrooms including hen of the woods. OMG… unreal taste! Don’t skip this pizza. Best mushroom pie ever. Run don’t walk to this place.

We met up with friends in Normal Heights and decided to try out Blind Lady Ale House. The ordering system is interesting where you order everything from the bar and a server tries to find you in a sea of people to bring over your food. I wouldn’t say this is the most efficient way to have patrons order food, but this is the way they have it. The food is nice, we ordered the Moules Frites and Beer Nuts as appetizers and the Egg & Bacon Pizza. The beer list is not extensive and limited selection. They also don’t have a beer flight, which is what the cashier Ashley said. What kind of bothered me the entire night was that the staff were not that welcoming. The cashier seemed irritated the entire time we ordered and one of the servers seemed really annoyed when we kindly asked her to take a group picture for us. She said she was going to the kitchen and never bothered to come back. I just didn’t really feel like people enjoyed working there, but these are my thoughts from the experience. I probably won’t go out of my way to come back, unless I am in the neighborhood and already have a good parking spot.

This joint is Old School Joe Camel Cool. Cool location, cool building, cool decorum, cool background music, and cool folks pouring suds and tossing dough. They are also cool for offering 4 – 5 selections on their pizza pie menu that are, or can be Veganized. They even make their own Soyrizo! When you are living the Plant Based lifestyle you come to appreciate when a hip mainstream establishment such as Blind Lady offers«V» friendly items. Even I need a break of ordering food from Anglo cashiers with dreads named Moonbeam. I chose the Vegan daily special: Butternut Squash Pizza. Roasted squash, cipollini onions, dried cranberries, walnuts, and a light speckling of Daiya Cheese. Flavorful, good textures, and a fine example of Vegan pizza. A good common ground option for dining out with your Non-Vegan buds.

YUM! I’m from north county San Diego but I made the drive to try this place. I went on a Saturday morning around noon. I was surprised by how many people were already there. We ordered fries and a pizza. The fries were thick and crispy and they came with three sauces. The sauces were full of flavor! The pizza was half and half. Half soyrizo and half vegan pesto. My goodness I could eat this pizza every day! My boyfriend also got a beer and enjoyed it! I highly recommend this place!

Among my favorite places to visit when I want a diverse crowd and a great variety of beers. But don’t worry, this place isn’t limited to an excellent beer list and a good crowd, they also have food, some of which is vegan. Now your super picky friends can’t complain! Among these items are pizza and frites. I’ve never liked pizza, but I’ll occasionally eat it here… It’s just that good. Service is also awesome. The line can bunch up occasionally, but it’s not a big deal because people are generally prompt when ordering. Maddie in particular is super awesome. She and the other staff are friendly and make themselves relatable. Good for those days you roll solo. I was also notified that if you ride your bike there, you’re eligible to get 10% your order. Great incentive to get your butt off the couch, get a little exercise, and go be social at the local watering hole.

The Blind Lady is a perfect place to go if you want some uniquely crafted pizza with toppings that stray away from the mundane. My wife and I visited San Diego recently and were taken to the Blind Lady. This restaurant has a bar like atmosphere — and if you’re in the mood for some suds with your food, there’s plenty on tap. I’m not a big drinker myself, but the Blind Lady also offers their own soda creations, which I thought was very unique. The hardest thing to to at the Blind Lady is figuring out exactly what to get because everything looks great. Our party ended up getting 2 pizzas, a caesar salad, and fries along with our drinks. The caesar salad was very traditional with a huge anchovy taste to it. It’s easy to forget that caesar salad has this strong fishy component since many restaurants leave it out, but not the Blind Lady! I personally am not a fan of the fishy taste, but I appreciate that it stays true to the original salad. In fact, the Blind Lady includes an anchovy right on the very top to signify that it will have that taste to it. My favorite dish were the french fries. They came with three dipping sauces and were perfectly crunchy. I could snack on these all day. And the portion of the fries was very generous. I’m embarrassed to say our entire party couldn’t even finish the whole thing! The pizza at the Blind Lady is very good, but a bit salty for my taste buds. The crust is nice and is more of a traditional American style crust. Though it’s not my favorite pizza, I did enjoy them. My brother-in-law raves about it though… so to each their own. I cannot knock the quality of it though… that aspect is excellent. The Blind Lady is a great restaurant to go to in the San Diego area. It certainly stands out in many aspects. It’s worth a try!

My Vavi league comes here after and before EVERY game! They give you a discount(5% I believe) if you are apart of a Vavi league! There beer is spot on– especially the cider! The Townshead(let’s hope that is the name) Cider is amazing! Its a great place to hang out and mingle with your friends. Not too loud and the tables can accommodate big groups! If you come during dinner time– prepare to wait in line! This place gets packed. Pizza is a bit pricey– but it’s good, so i’m okay with it.

I ordered the margherita pizza and the green flash beer. You could definitely get a better margherita pizza elsewhere. The crust was extremely hard and pizza didn’t have much taste to it. After realizing that the acronym to this restaurant was«B.L.A.H», I figured out why. My friend ordered the Salsiccia pizza, it was extremely salty. Go for the beer, but pass on the food — especially the pizzas.

More of Blind Lady and less of places like those ones in downtown… or even the ones in Little Italy… You know which ones I’m talking about. Blind Lady doesn’t try to be uppity or trendy, it’s a craft beer place for beer lovers and good olé bar food but not«gastropub» food. Although the prices are a buck or two off, but they have a good selection. We came on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t packed, which was nice because we were able to find parking and had no problems with waiting for anything. We ordered a couple beers each(one from the Russian River and another hef like taste) both of which were good. I noticed that they love head here, you’ll get a long inch on your glass. Food– mussels and pizza. Mussels were pricey but they give you a ton of fries! It’s a meal in itself. The fries were great. The mussels were amazing too! The broth was flavorful(didn’t have enough broth though) and mussels were big. The veggie they had in it was good too! The spicy salami pizza was thin and flavorful but it was a bit too salty… My BF said all their pizzas were good but on the salty side, maybe just to keep you to drink more beer.

I want to give this place 4 stars, but it has one major flaw… the process. Every time you would like to order something, you have to go up to the counter, exactly like a fast food place. They really should consider how much money they are losing from the customer who doesn’t feel like sitting in a line 8 deep just to get another beer or another snack. If you are really looking to try a lot of different beers, be prepared to wait. My husband and I would have most definitely ordered more had there been a wait staff waiting on us. We worked all day, I didn’t want to sit alone while he waited in line for another round. It defeats the purpose of spending an evening out. With that being said, we ordered the mixed green salad, chicken liver pâté, and salsiccia pizza… all outstanding. The greens were fresh, the pâté was excellent, and the pizza crust is perfectly crisp. My husband is a big craft brew guy and he said their list of beers is awesome. He tried the Noble Citrus Showers IPA and loved it. Overall, high on price point with the food quality to back it up. However, a fast food customer service model. 4 stars for sure if someone would just get me another beer. I just don’t want to wait in line.

Pizza & beer. A commonly good combination for a good time and a full belly. BLAH is an icon, and it’s also the reason why it’s usually packed! Get in line and order your food and beer, and snag a table ASAP. The pizza may take a while to come out(their quoted estimates are pretty accurate), but it’s worth the wait. You can just sit and enjoy your beer in the meantime. Had the house chorizo pizza and it was on point. It’s a bit pricy for the size, and I only wished it could’ve been bigger. Only other pizza I’ve tried was the margherita, which was decent, but go for the house chorizo and you won’t be disappointed!

Ok, every Sunday this place brings down the big screen & has a special VHS screening of two movies. This Sunday it’s E.T. & Independence Day. And yes… they have a pretty impressive VHS collection, all randomly donated. Bartender told us, people just leave VHS tapes for them on the bar. Ok…let’s get to it. Yes, the parking situation kinda sucks. Not much street parking and the parking lot is for residences only. Trust me, find parking and walk to the brewery. It doesn’t disappoint. The staff is welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about their craft. Even if you don’t know what you want, tell them what you don’t like(beer wise) & they’ll make suggestions for you. They were dead on with us and the beer was delicious. Great seating options, long tables and lots of cool knicknacks around the place. They have a small menu and the portions are good. What really makes this place is the staff and the welcoming environment. This place actually talks to their customers and they are knowledgeable about everything on tap. That’s impressive. We had a great time here. A good place for a group or a date. Real down to earth and the beer is good. I highly recommend the Avery– White Rascal. We’ll be back soon.

Blind Lady, you’re amazing. I have never had a bad time at this place. I love the charcuterie, pizza, and of course the nice list of beer. This visit was during the lunch time hours and I wasn’t aware of specials. They have a very reasonable personal pizza menu for lunch and a drink special. $ 4 Cali Creamin’ until 4pm. I tried some other beers first that I was very pleased with. I should have written down the names of the beer but the first was flavored with cola and it was very tasty, the second was flavored with lilikoi and it was pretty sweet but delicious. Then I ended with the Cali Creamin’. My friend and I weren’t very hungry and ordered the personal prosciutto pizza! Yum! It was seriously amazing. The place was pretty empty during this time of day. It was a great place for us to have some girl talk. I definitely need to make a habit out of visiting Blind Lady. It’s so close to my house and a really cool place to just chill.

Location — good Drinks — good Food — good Atmosphere — good Service — it’s pub service, but good Blind Lady Ale House was recommended to me some time ago by other Unilocalers and I’ve only recently had a chance to check it out during a neighborhood art walk. While easy to find for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers, the availability of bike parking right outside the BLAH doors make it a cyclist’s destination. That idea is further encouraged inside with signs designating the space as a pit stop for biking events. Not to mention, the logo. Being smack dab in the middle of the art walk stretch, the place was busy when we came in. As it’s like a typical pub, you order at the bar and seat yourself. You’ll likely be sharing a bench with others, so don’t be shy. We ordered a couple of pints(decent tap list) and waited for our food. The Belgian Frites are just as great as everyone else describes them. Nice ratio of crunch to fluff, and the three different dipping sauces pair well too. The portion is pretty big, so if you need to take them to go, boxes are available at a station in the middle of the space where you can also find napkins and utensils. We enjoyed the atmosphere and hopefully will come back to try out their pizzas and more ales, or maybe even visit one of their few sister restaurants.

I love Happy Hour and Blind Lady has one of the best around! Until 4pm every Tuesday through Friday, one can order one of their 8″ pizzas for half off. That means it’s $ 4 for a margherita! The pizza was thin and mouthwatering with just the right amount of cheese and a crunchy crust. I was in heaven. In addition, Blind Lady offers a weekly rotating $ 4 beer to accompany it. And it isn’t a crappy beer either. The week I visited it was Scuplin and I heard someone say the previous week it had been Pliny The Elder. Score! To top things off they were serving a $ 3 freshly baked chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of Mariposa ice cream. I may have gained 5 pounds from everything I consumed but it really hit the spot(and didn’t break the bank). If you don’t come for Happy Hour this place still rocks. They have a large tap list of craft beers(some staples, some rarities, and even their own brand). The food menu is solid with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The owners seem pretty cool too by supporting local events like pub crawls and Bike To Work Day. It can’t get much better than this!

Tasty pizzas, salads, and desserts! Although everything on their menu is pretty standard«American food,» they put a great twist on it! The pizzas are delicious(Recommend: Prosciutto) and the desserts are incredible(Recommend: Blackberry Cheesecake). Even their salad, with mango and apple, lived up to its company(sorry, forgot the name)! Don’t be fooled by the bar atmosphere, it’s definitely a family restaurant. Everyone from babies to grandparents were present. Although I didn’t drink much, those who did had nothing but praise for the beer selection. Service was on point! The waiters were speedy and nice about getting us everything we needed and the bouncer outside was fun to talk to. Great place! :)
