Totally stumbled across this place because it was near my hotel. Cubano sandwich is probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Clean, fun vibe. Staff are friendly and helpful. It’s a 5 star sandwich joint.

Amazing! Best Brussel sprout salad I have ever had. The salad was super fresh and the chicken was grilled to order. Very moist and so tasty! The salad portions are large so I took half home. The staff was very very friendly and super accommodating! Highly recommend!!!

Delicious sandwiches that exceeded our expectations! Bread was super soft. Service was above average and tasty drinks too!

I came here looking for a vegan friendly sandwich and I found it in the perfected chickpea sandwich. The mix is done just right and packs a lot of punch in the sandwich. The portions were great and I left feeling satisfied. Ambience was super cute and the owner was extremely friendly. He even brought some Turkish coffee for us to try! Next time I’m totally going to try their salads. They had some great options! I look forward to coming back!

Fries were decent and you could really taste the soft potato in the fries, but although they were seasoned, it didn’t really have much of a taste.
The 47 (turkey, bacon, avocado, cheese and tomato, plus dijon mustard and aioli spread on the side) was good. Again, I think I may have been suspecting more bite to the taste.
The owner was very chatty and had his nephew working with him. The boy is going to be an excellent waiter. His service was spot on.
Price was okay for what I got. Presentation was everything and they did a great job on that.
I think I will be back for another sandwich.

We both had great sandwiches! Gary had the rueben and Amy had the #47 turkey. They have the most wonderful potato salad! Service was also fantastic.

Sandwiches are my «go to» food when I’m grabbing a lunch, so I’ve tried lots of places over 16 years In San Diego. This place is fantastic!
I am glad I discovered this place. I can’t wait to come back and try another.
I had The 47 which is a turkey club. Real authentic turkey, beautifully fresh butter lettuce, tomatoes and avocados. And the bread, OMG, the bread was divine!
Definitely check this place out. I came for a late lunch, but it looks like they have some nice breakfast sandwiches if you are an earlier riser.

I’ve been waiting to try this shop for a while. They have a vegan sandwich called the Perfected Chickpea and yesterday it was very blustery and no one in the office wanted to go out, so I suggested this shop
One of our group was excited about a reuben so it was a slam dunk. Order was placed online and after a longish wait the sandwiches arrived via skateboarder.
Everyone raved about their sandwiches, except me. My Perfected Chickpea was delicious but the whomever made the filling left the chickpeas whole and about ¹⁄₃ of them escaped from between the toasted slices of bread. If the chickpeas had been mashed a bit they would have stayed in the sandwich to a greater extent. I’ve actually made this chickpea filling myself at home, it’s a well-​known recipe. I would suggest that Big Thyme make that change as it is very messy to eat the Perfected Chickpea with all the contents falling out.
I’m sure we’ll do a delivery again soon. The delivery charge of $ 5 was judged to be very reasonable.

I came here on a weekend and went for the grilled cheese. It seems to be a small family run type of spot which is nice especially here in the city. The area itself needs more tasty options that are open on a weekend!
The day was hot so we sat outside. The inside was VERY hot. They have no air. It should not be a problem most days but I wouldn’t eat in there on a hot day for all the grilled onions at In and out.
I am a veggie, so I decided to go for the girlled cheese. It was unexpectidly good because it had wonderful tomatoes inside and the was grilled perfectly. There was also a bit of honey on the outside of the sammy which elevated the flavor.
I decided to go with a side of fries. The fries here are not my cup of tea. There is a breading or coating on them that is thick. I am into matchstick fries. That doesn’t mean you wont like the fries though. Just my personal taste.
I would come back here to try other specials and to see about getting some soup!

The urban croissant is amazing, the best eggs I’ve ever had in my life. The Greek Salad is so fresh and has amazing Mediterranean flavors! Love the Chickpea Salad Sandwich, can’t ask for anything better than that. FOR YOU KOMBUCHA LOVERS! I brew my own kombucha at home and have never seen this anywhere else. They have a kombucha float and it’s pretty fantastic. I’ve had so many things on the menu and can’t get enough of the fries, make sure you Big Thyme your order to get double! The owners just told me that that in the new year they will start being open late and serving beer. I can’t wait!

Big Thyme Sandwich Company lured me in with their pun filled name. After much deliberation, I ordered the Cubano Clasico. Cuban sandwiches are a personal favorite, so I had lofty standards. With freshly sliced salami, flavorful pork tenderloin, and mouth watering toasted bread, I was thoroughly impressed. Great portions — I was barely able to finish half of the sandwich. I decided to go with the side order of French fries, which were very unique; they had the exterior texture of a mozzarella stick with optimal crunch. I would come back just to order the fries.
Staff was affable and accommodating. The owner brought out authentic Turkish coffee and a chocolate chip croissant after our meal. I would highly recommend checking this place out. There aren’t many places in San Diego where you receive an experience like this one.

This place is great for a quick sand which or salad stop!
The 47 looks delicious but I went with the Italian sloppy joe– yum!
I got fries on the side but was disappointed by the amount (11)
I came with a group of 6 — there are 7 small tables and we pushed two together for our large group
We also had the opportunity to try Turkish coffee which was such a lovely treat!
Love the food, the price, service, and atmosphere!

I had the grilled cheese fromage with tomato basil soup, and my sister had the Brussels sprout salad! The prices are good, the portions are generous! The owner is friendly and giving! Just a great experience! Will be back when in San Diego!

Called in for pick up lunch order. Never been here before & asked what panini sandwhiches they offer, she said you can make any sandwhich into a panini. Plus!!! Got the 47 as a panini & potato salad that comes w it. Omg. Soooo frikkin good! Fresh. Delicious. Tasty. Fresh. Love it. Hard to find a good sandwhich place DT that doesn’t give you shredded lettuce from a bag that was opened a week ago. Sucks this place isn’t open late but will come again. Nice ppl too.

This place is amazing! You have to try the fries with the sauce it comes with. The potato salad is really good too! This is my new go to place for a panini!

Amazing food, great Ambience. Reuben is one of the best I’ve had in awhile. This place will have lines out the door, come experience, good food, before you have to wait 2hrs to eat here.

Big Thyme is big time delicious and good! My buddy mentioned this place to me (thanks JP), but I’ve been so busy with work lately that I haven’t had a chance. I finally made time to check this place out.
The first thing you notice, other than the place being nice and clean, is that the staff here is very welcoming. I was able to chat with the staff and they are friendly and personable. They told me that this place has been open for about one month now.
My buddy has tried several of their sandwiches and mentioned a few of his favorites. Our group ended up ordering: the 47, the So-​Cal, the Reuben, and a Cubano. Wow… I got to taste a little of everyone’s sandwiches and they were all delicious!
The sandwich comes with options of: fries (with delish dipping sauce) or potato salad. I tried and enjoyed both the fries and potato salad. Don’t just take my word for it, this place has 5 star reviews for a reason.
They also accept Apple Pay which is convenient. Plenty of tables (indoor or outdoor options). They have delicious drinks in their self serve fridge too.
I’m a huge fan… this place is in East Village downtown (on F Street) where I don’t venture often, but this is one of my new go to places for sandwiches. If you’re close by and in the mood for a good sandwich or salad… stop by. Your stomach will be thanking you Big Thyme!
