I like the old neighboorhood but love the new place and service and food is as good as ever.

Great experience. The service was friendly and attentive. Amazing food: the Iskender was beautifully presented and tasted even better. We had the Meza platter as well… what an assortment of dishes. I will definitely be coming back here.

FYI– this restaurant is closed. We went and it was gutted — maybe a remodel? Anyway, call first!

Sorry folks, look like this place is closed for good. I went to pick up my usual organic beef kabob yesterday and it’s interior was ripped apart. I will dearly miss this place.

I went in the other day and asked for something with lamb that is low carb. The owner was very kind, gregarious and they whipped me up a delicious lamb salad which was very, very good. It came in just under $ 10 and I really enjoyed my dining experience. I can’t wait to go back again.

I wasn’t impressed, the service is okay the food was hit and miss. My husband had a Kafka and was happy. I had the chicken with eggplant sauce it was okay, the vegetarian entrée was tiny. They serve a ton of rice

Great new spot in east village! Went here for lunch and had the chicken kebab. Price was right and the service was amazing. Owner is really nice and you can tell she takes great pride in the food they serve which she should because it’s the ill na na. Definitely check this place out!

Really nice service, and the gyro sandwich was very good. Wasn’t a big fan of their chicken shawarma, hummus, or pitas though.

By far the best place we ate on our San Diego trip(and we ate at some good places). The service was delightful and homey. They even let us in a little before they opened because it was cold and rainy outside. We ordered the Meza platter appetizer, which has small portions of all of their appetizers along with some of their chicken and some of their gyro meat. Everything was beyond excellent, with high quality fresh ingredients, and a depth of flavor that one doesn’t always get with Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurants in the US. Falafels were excellent. Dolmas were great. Hummus, babaganouj, an eggplant dish, tabbouleh salad, yogurt sauce– they were all wonderful. The salad had a tangy creamy flavorful dressing over fresh lettuces and onions. Even the olives topping the dips were flavored excellently. The gyro meat and the chicken were stand-outs. The chicken meat was especially good– think the best grilled chicken you’ve ever had– moist and flavorful with a smokiness. The meats were sublime all by themselves, but it was also fun making little mini gyros with the meat and various sauces and veggies and the yogurt sauce complemented the meats perfectly. We also had a rose water fruit drink that was delightful on its own and even better after the food arrived(it provided a very nice counterpoint to the salad in particular), a lebanese coffee with a delicate cardamom which was similar to a good strong Turkish coffee with a nice foam on top, black tea with cardamom which was a fine tea, and hot chocolate which was made with Ghiardhelli cocoa. Since everything was so wonderful, we took home a bakalava. It’s a light and fluffy version of the confection with a warm cinnamon flavor.

For those of us suffering from Celiac’s Disease and severe Gluten allergies, we don’t exactly get to choose restaurants based on what cuisine we feel like that day, but moreso based on what restaurant has GLUTENFREE options. I was lucky to find this place on my trip to SD. The owners(husband & wife) are total sweethearts and are really well versed on Celiac’s disease/gluten allergies and do their best to successfully avoid cross contamination. We ordered the gluten free falafels and the spinach rice dish along with the hummus appetizer. All of which were really good and tasted like Mediterranean/Turkish food, even though it was gluten free! The BEST part was that this was one of the very few times that dining out did NOT flare up any of my symptoms! Summary: Great restaurant and definitely recommend to everyone. Reasonable pricing. A gem in East Village! Several of my coworkers had mentioned this place to me because of their gluten-free options, so I finally went to check it out for lunch. So glad I did! The restaurant is a bit small, so not the best for groups. I chatted with the owners(at least I think that’s who they were?) for a bit, and they were super sweet and friendly. Their whole deal is healthy and organic, and there are a ton of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free items on the menu. Felafel was cooked perfectly — yummm. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

LOVELOVELOVE. These people truly are passionate about their food. Everything here is organic, gluten free, and delicious. I was stunned to learn they buy EVERYTHING — veg, meats, fish — fresh daily. Their meats are delivered daily, and are so fresh, they don’t even have a real refrigerator in the back! For people who have never had real Mediterranean food, know that it might be slightly different from what you are used to. But for everyone who knows good food will tell you everything on this menu is cooked to perfection.

Walked by this little gem several times, en route to Salad Style, always commenting on the delightful aroma permeating from inside the restaurant. Decided to give it a try today and am elated that I did. As my friend and I were being shown to our seats, I overheard a customer comment on how delicious the Felafels were, so we ordered the appetizer portion of six. I was not disappointed. Cooked perfectly; slightly crispy outside and moist on the inside. A palate pleasing garlic dipping sauce(perfectly balanced as not to offend) on the side was a nice touch. My past felafels experiences have been one where the sauce is drizzled atop. Not everyone is a fan of the sauce, so why the drizzle? This being my first time at La Mirage, I ordered the Chicken Shawarma to do an unbiased comparison to the others in the area. There were no complaints from this guy. The chicken was tender and seasoned just right absorbing a perfect balance of herbs and spices that come alive with every delicious bite. The vegetables are organically grown, rich in color and noticeable in flavor. My friend is a true Foodie and she tells it like it is. She ordered the Chicken Shawarma plate and was full of compliments. You’ll have to read her reviews for details. It’s all about me on this review. :-) The owners were present and attentive to their customers needs. Super accommodating. I’m a big fan of the purveyor /customer interaction. I could tell that they were passionate about what they do and the end result is proof enough. La Mirage is about a husband and wife sharing their passion for healthy and delectable food with others. If your in a hurry, remember that quality food takes time when its prepared fresh.

We are always looking for great tasting healthy organic food which caters to Gluten free customers. La Mirage is our favorite restaurant. We eat here 2 times a week. The Ali-Nazik with chicken is so decadent. I have also tried the Kafta kabob and the chicken kabob, which were both great as well. Their french fries are cooked in a separate oil bin, to keep it gluten contaminant free. Those fries were great! They mixed in fresh basil and parsley which was such a nice fresh treat to have on top. The owners are both warm, caring, and hospitable. Hosein is also a great, conscientous and caring waiter. Every time we come here they take care of us like we are Rock Stars. If I had three thumbs, I would give this restaurant 3 thumbs up!

I love everything about this restaurant since the first time I came here on a date and tried the salmon salad with pita bread. There was nothing plain about the salad it was so full of flavor and my date ordered the chicken kabob pizza. I had to take my friends and family here because it’s definitely worth it. We came for lunch on my moms birthday and everyone loved it. My dad got a gyro and I hadthechicken plate and all of their meat is organic and vegetables are fresh because they go shopping everyday. My friend had the falafel plate and everyone loved their hummus and tzatki sauce sorry if I spelt it wrong. But really worth it :)

First time having Mediterranean food… And I must say it was quite an excellent experience! I got the salmon salad and was completely satisfied. Refreshing taste and portions were huge! The owner was very nice and gave us additional pita bread! He stopped by twice to see if we were satisfied! Definitely coming back!

I am on a total Greek food kick right now. Give me some hummus immediately. Food here was good — prices were reasonable, and it was easy to find parking on the street. Lunch specials are good and big portions. Now, I would say that the downfall here is the neighborhood. We watched all kinds of crazies walking by. But hey, maybe the rent is cheap there? I keep hoping that the city cleans up East Village. .. we shall see when that day comes.

This is a must visit if you are anywhere near here! The location and name are new, but the great food is the same! This is one of my favorite restaurants. They serve organic and gluten free for anyone who is looking for that. My recommendation is the Chicken Shawerma(anything — plate, sandwich or salad)! I have not always been a fan of hummus until I had theirs — Outstanding! I have a friend from the middle east, and he says its some of the best Mediterranean food too.

This place is amazing… the service is warm and friendly and the setting is peaceful and quiet… my friend and I had popped in here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised to find out that this place just opened… I had the Gyros plate which came with hefty portions… I loved everything on my plate… the gyros were tasty and fresh… the basmati rice was fresh and light… the salad was lightly drizzled with dressing and very green… the pita bread was warm and filling… We also started off with Hummus which was very tasty… definitely worth giving a try… you will be impressed with their health-conscious menu and organic selections… we just enjoyed ourselves at this spot and wish them all the success in the world. you will love the mom and pop feel and get great service… I will definitely return and happy that I came across this place.
