My review is based on the catering experience I had. Came in looking to order some bbq tri tip for my daughters 1yr party, spoke with the owner Mike. We sat down and went over the logistics, when, how many ppl, how much to order, etc. Everything went well, he recommended I order 15lbs for 30 – 35 guests. I thought was a bit much and communicated to him that I already had wings, noodles, and a bunch of other food. So I ended up ordering 10lbs of tri tip to be picked up an hour before our party to be served semi warm to guests. First things first, I think I was oversold on the amount of meat needed for the party even though I explained I already ordered other food elsewhere. I should have known myself and take responsibility for that. But if you cater from here, beware that this may happen. Day of party, I came to pickup my order and as I grabbed the platter of tri tip it was refrigerated. I clearly said I wanted it warm because I was going to serve it right away. I was slightly disappointed already but gave the place the benefit of the doubt so asked the owner how I could heat it up, how long and at what temp. Was told 375 – 400 for about 20min. Went home with my platter, popped it in the oven for 15min. When opened the over, surprise surprise, everything was way over cooked at the point. Just great, nothing better than well done steal right? I could imagine the tri tip tasting pretty good if it was still medium to medium rare but now that it was cooked, it became chewy meat with decent taste. I’d say it was $ 160 Not well spent. I did receive a follow up call as owner was nice enough to check In with me a couple days later. I expressed my disappointment to him and that told him I had no idea how this got messed up. He told me they cooked the tri tip and sliced it the night before and was sorry the order got messed up. But that was pretty much it, he said he couldn’t do anything about it and that he’d extend a discount to me if I placed another ordered in the future. He knew I wasn’t happy, and how could I be having spent the kind of money and not getting what we agreed on and then to be told nothing can be done now. Not sure if I’ll ever be back.

Just stopped in for lunch after arriving at the airport. We tried the tri tip and the porky: lots of meat, fresh vegetables and fresh bread. Seems family-owned and operated, super friendly. Definitely would recommend trying it if you’re local for good quality meat.

The tri tip sandwich, hands down one of the best I’ve had in the Bay. Mrs. Carroll is such a sweet heart. They could tell it was my first time, so they gave me a complimentary brownie(which was incredible). I will be here a lot more!!!

I’ve had both the Tri Tip and the Pastrami sandwiches(numerous times on both sandwiches) and they are packed with meat and flavorful! The staff there has always been so friendly and kind as well. Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend

This review is for the Tri-Tip Sandwich and the shop. ITISAMAZING. GETTHETRI-TIPSANDWICH. DOIT. I was running errands in the area and it popped up here and had great reviews. The sign outside suggested I stop in and get the Tri-Tip Sandwich. Lots of great looking sandwiches on the menu, but I was hooked on #1, the Tri-Tip. I ordered it with no tomato, and light mayo. It’s basically one of the most incredible sandwiches I’ve had in years. I brought it back to the office and reveled at the flavor… and the texture… and the color of the meat. It’s legitimately high quality beef, and cooked to perfection. The condiments were tasty and the produce was crisp. Bread soaked up the au jus. The sandwich was so. damn. good. So you shouldn’t be surprised at this point… but I didn’t get anything done at work after I ate this sandwich. I just kept thinking about how damn good it was. I wasn’t productive, but I was incredibly happy all afternoon. Also, I’m pretty sure the owner was the one making my sandwich. He was super friendly and just one of those people that makes any neighborhood better. He cares about his small shop and the quality of meats & side dishes he keeps in his refrigeration case. If you’re there and it’s slow, be sure to say hi. He’s good people. This place has a single small table in the store. It’s probably best you get your sandwich to go. The sandwich is huge and can easily be split by two people. Chips and canned drinks are available as well. I’ll be back for the Tri-Tip sandwich for sure. It’s so good. I’m not sure I need to try anything else, but the rest of the menu sure looks good. If and when I do branch out, I’ll be sure to pick up some meat to bring home for my next barbecue outing.

OMG! This little hole in the wall has Bomb sandwiches. No gimmicks either. Just bites of deliciousness! My son and I dropped in out of curiosity and I’m so glad we did. A new found sandwich shop that’s local! Plus the people are very personable and they have many treats made from scratch… along with the marinated meats they also use for sandwiches. You won’t be sorry!

I wanted to do a Prime Rib for Thanksgiving dinner instead of a Turkey. I find turkey meat to be too dry for my liking. I was gonna go to safeway to get ‘er done but then I thought wait a minute, kapeng napakainit, if i’m gonna spend some good money i might as well get some quality meat. I hit Unilocal up and Caroll’s Meats was the first place on my list. After reading the reviews and calling ahead of time to make sure they had Prime Rib of Beef available 3 days before Thanksgiving, I made up my mind and told Mr. Carroll that I’d be there later that night. This place is on San Bruno Ave. and you should have any trouble finding parking nearby or there’s a small parking lot in the back. First thing you notice when you get in is a bunch of 49ers memorabilia which told me that I had found the right place. Mr. Caroll told us of his experiences in the meat business and how Carroll’s Meats and Deli came to be. I told him that I had called ahead of time and next thing I know the most beautiful Prime Rib of Beef came out, wonderful marbling and you can tell it had been aged the right away. He gave me some advice on how big a piece I should get and I settled on a 3 Rib slice enough to feed 6. He gave me some tips on how to take care of the meat until I was ready to cook it and instead of experimenting with my own rub, I had him put his special rub on the meat. He even told me his trick of separating the meat from the rib, then reattaching it using some twine to get some of the flavor off the rib into the meat. He gave me some tips on how to cook it and even gave me his phone number to call him just in case I had any questions on his instructions. I never got to go back and thank Mr. Carroll for being so helpful and patient with all the questions I had but man that was the best Prime Rib I’ve ever had. Definitely coming back whenever I need to buy some quality meat. On a side note, he also makes sandwiches here and his famous Black Magic TriTip Sandwich is just heaven on earth! Get you some!

The Tri Tip was amazing! I just found this little place while I was driving and went in seeing the Tri Tip Sandwich sign. The owner was so nice recommending a sandwich depending on what I liked. But I got what I came for, the tri tip sandwich. The tri tip was AMAZING with the juices just dripping as I took the first bite. And that sauce. Homemade sauce for sure. Definitely coming back again. FYI, street parking is limited but there is parking in the rear.

It’s my first time here at Carroll’s and I’ve been looking for a great meat shop with Deli in San Bruno. I always prefer«Old school sandwhiches» prepared. Good thing I came across this sandwich place. I met this cool jolly guy Mike and he happened to be the owner. I don’t know what to order and He just look at me and said I got you! Not a word, he just prepared me a tri-tip sandwich. Man, he read my mind. I’m a regular carnivorous guy! So much meat and a great sauce and a lot of meat and meat and meat! Did I mention my sandwich had a large portion of meat? One of the best tri-tip I’ve had. I’ll surely go back and considered my Go-to-eat place whenever I’m in San Bruno. Oh He got me a brownies to go! A Very pleasant fellow ! I recommend Black Magic tri-tip!

Huge. Amazing. Go go go. I was getting my car’s suspension alined at Henlon’s Tire(next door) and they recommended this place for lunch. Upon entry, I was greeted by one of the co-proprietors(I believe they’re a married couple) who was friendly and welcoming. Henlon’s recommended the tri-tip sandwich, so I went with that. She suggested including the Jalapenos, which … hell yeah. I asked for some avocado on it(I like avocado on pretty much anything). All together, it was $ 9.75. All together, it was also the size of a small child(no, seriously, it may have outweighed my son at birth), not to mention that I didn’t realize that«add avocado» meant«add more avocado than Australia produced in the 2012 calendar year.» Holy cow. The meat was beautifully done; the sandwich was spicy enough to be interesting. Overall, it was a fine, fine, fine sandwich. I had half of it and felt a little sick-level overfull, then had the other half for dinner, and felt a little sick-level overfull. I look forward to the next time I have half of this sandwich and feel sick-level overfull. Amazing, amazing, food; super-friendly owners. I want to go again. Like, tomorrow.

The best hanger steaks on the planet hands down!!! Mike, the owner, does his magic when prepping the meats and pours lots of love and passion into everything he does. 6 minutes per side on the BBQ and you have medium/rare, most amazing, mouth watering piece of steak goodness!!! My mouth is watering right about now as I just ordered 4 pounds to be picked up tomorrow!!! Keep up the great work MIKE!!!

AMAZINg. Got Tri tip sandwich, boyfriend got pastrami and we couldn’t help but get a pound of his home made salami and some Cheddar cheese as well. INCREDIBLE. We are officially regulars! Mike Carroll is and old fashioned butcher. I purchased my fresh turkey from him it was deliciously fresh. I absolute love his trip tip sandwiches. It is the perfect sandwich with just the right combination of toppings. If you’ve never had a Caroll’s Meats trip tip sandwich you must give it a try. You’ll have not had a sandwich like this any were else but Carroll’s Meats. I get mine with everthing.
