Yea, the second best Zito’s in town. The best one is on Broadway, outside of Loop 410. But this place is pretty dang good! Their sandwich menu should just have the one sandwich, The Serious. This is a serious sandwich. Seriously. It’s like the Schlotzsky’s Original sandwich, sort of like a muffalotta, with an olive tapenade, and served on a flat bread. They make their own hot sauce which is mild and flavorful. The service is fast and friendly, but they do close early at 4p. Really, a quarter of a serious is enough for lunch with a bag of chips. But if you’re hungry, go for the half serious. Only if you’re starving can you possibly finish off a whole one! The décor here needs updating. It’s a bunch of dusty old racing memorabilia. I didn’t know that SA had a racing scene, but I guess they do. There’s a bunch of dusty old trophies and helmets. Someone needs to dust them. This location is fairly clean. It was rather smoky when we walked in, I guess they were roasting a sandwich or something.

Been going to Zito’s for years and have never had a «bad» experience or sandwich. I have been to plenty of places with nice«atmospheres» and crappy food and paid a lot for it.

I grew up here and haven’t ever been to Zitos. I’m here visiting from out of town and I can’t believe that I’ve missed out of this delicious goodness all these years. Love the food and service. Eating the bread with a crunch but still soft in the middle is perfection.

The food is always good but after waiting over 25 minutes for 1 sandwich and a salad I’m not very happy.

As I sat here today when Obergefell v. Hodges was announced, the first thing that popped in my head when I got hungry was Chick-Fil-A. OK that was a lie. But I did have a hankering for a sub sandwich not from Subway. I was not disappointed. I don’t know why they gave me a tiny cup of beans, but I ordered the large Italian, which included salami, prosciutto, and ham among other traditional fillings for an Italian. It had great flavor and was nicely toasted. If I come back, I would be interested in trying the Reuben and their Gyro! It is definitely on the higher price spectrum in terms of sub sandwiches but worth the extra penny.

Food was usually good, but last time we ate here we all got food poisoning. Called the owner and he had no care or concern. Definitely won’t be going back.

My husband and I came here for a Saturday lunch. We ordered the italian and the half-a(both recommended by the gentleman taking our order). We ordered at the counter and our sandwiches were brought to our table. Everything looks especially delicious coming out of their sandwich toaster. But the downside here is that we reeked of toasting lunch meats until we changed clothes. Our sandwiches were very flavorful, the italian had very crunchy delicious bread. And the half-a had incredible flavor — but I wasn’t crazy about the pizza-crust style bread(and neither was my hubs). Some mixture of the two sandwiches would have been perfect. In conclusion, I may come back to pick up a sandwich that I called-in, but I definitely wouldn’t want to sit and eat here again unless I was planning on showering right after.

This joint has been in the same spot on Callaghan for as LONG as I can remember… that’s a looong time, y’all, as I grew up going to the Catholic church across the street. So, it must be good right?! They close early(like 3−4pm) so I finally made it in… it’s a typical sammich shop setup: tell ‘em which sammich, bread, & size you want, dude prepares it then puts it thru a toaster a la Quizno’s(but much tastier & fresher). I decided on the large Italian sandwich & a side of potato salad(I’d read stellar things about the beans… but it was too dang hot that day for beans!). I asked the guy if the other half would keep until the next day if I didn’t eat it all… he honestly told me no cause they dribble a good amount of olive oil & vinegar on the bread. I sat there while he prepared it… it was an oddball time — about 3:30pm — but there were about 5 people eating inside in business suits so I think Zito’s pulls a booming business from the nearby business parks. Anyway, tasty sandwich! Way better than the chain joints… and I didn’t have to worry about a leftover half as I waxed it. The potato salad was meh… it needed some kind of pickling or crunchy veggie, in my opinion. I prob wouldn’t order it again.

The serious sandwich is an Italian sandwich served on pizza bread. This sandwich is unique & to die for! Especially when paired with a cup of beans and tangy hot sauce. Who wouldn’t love it!!!

Oh man! This is a DELIcious sammich! I’m visiting from Houston and ordered a Serious Sandwich at the recommendation of a co-worker. This is SERIOUSLY the yummiest sandwich I’ve had in a very long time, if not ever. It’s warm, the bread is soft and toasty, the ingredients are fresh, flavorful and work so well together. The Serious Sandwich has similar ingredients to Schlotzky’s Orginal, but the taste is no comparison — YUM-O! Also, we called an order in, but called it to the Broadway Store when we meant to send it to the Callaghan store. When we called Broadway back to cancel they said no problem, we’ll call it over to Callaghan for you! They did and it was perfect, and we really appreciated the customer service! I will order from here every time I come to work from this office moving forward. YAY for ZITOs!!!

A bit pricey but their Turkey sandwiches are the best. If your there on a Friday, try their wedding soup. Delicious!

Thanks to Unilocal I was able to come across this spot. The beans are really good. Boracho style with meat bits in it. Really enjoyed them. The bread is perfectly toasted, which for me makes or break a sandwich. I hate when my mouth roof gets torn up from rough toast. The staff is friendly and the décor is supportive of the local community and racing. Also, because this is Texas, there’s some really good red hot sauce on the tables for your sandwich.

The serious sandwich was nothing short of serious at all! My husband and I went for a short lunch date and let me just tell you, nothing about this deli is a let down. We shared the serious sandwich and by share I mean I had one section and he had the other three… its huge and filling and delicious!

Ok, ok I get it!!! The Serious is a very serious sandwich, but it is a dinner for two. The Halfa Serious is plenty for most people. Very tasty, and I will be back.

I’m a pretty picky eater. When my sister took me to Zito’s to try the Serious Sandwich, she was smart and didn’t tell me what was in it as I took my first bite. I loved it! When I looked at the menu for the ingredients, I realized I didn’t like much of what was on the Serious Sandwich individually… olives, ham, no thanks… but combined, boyyyy did Zito’s get it right. The Serious Sandwich is one of my favorite sandwiches… of all time. Now THAT’S a serious statement! 5 stars for the delicousness alone!

The sandwiches here are solid. The bread is crispy, the meat portions are respectable and the service is normally pretty good. With each(hot) sandwich I’ve gotten here, they’ve thrown in a very small cup of pinto beans. I’m not too sure why they do this but I like it so I’ll just shut up and enjoy it. The place is small and bland on the inside but seating space is adequate. If this place had more non-Italian type of sandwich offerings, I’d have given them 5 stars but being that their offering is so narrow, I docked a star. If you’re in the neighborhood and feel like a sandwich, I’d say give them a shot knowing that while the place itself might NOT wow you, the sandwiches just might.

You haven’t had local toasted sandwich goodness until you’ve been to Zito’s! Quizno’s can kiss my ass because Zito’s offers a great sandwich at a great price. They even throw in a free cup of beans with your order. Oh, those amazing cold cuts melt in your mouth… not to mention that staff ;-). Too bad I can’t take THEM to go. Tell all your friends about Zito’s, they’re a word-of-mouth business!
