Lux N Nails

I have been going to this place for years. They are clean, back up their work, committed to customer service. They do great work and even my mom drives on from Austin to get her mani, pedi’s done here.

At first sight this place is dirty. My shellac came out looking ok although the technician took way too much skin off around my nails, just asking for an infection. My nails chipped the next day, I went back in to get one nail fixed and after waiting thirty minutes the owner asked me to come back tomorrow. I wanted to ask for my money back but was in a hurry. Needless to say I won’t be back. Don’t waste your time here you will not be happy

I was very impressed. I have search for a good pedicure place for over a year and this one was suggested to me. Goes to show word of mouth is still the best. Very sterilize and attention to detail. Love my toes tonight as they add the final touch to my gown.

NEVER AGAIN!!! After reading all the review I was sure this was the place to go. I went on a Friday afternoon and to my surprise the place was a ghost town. I should have seen this as a sign but I proceeded. The nail tech was asleep on the couch and the other lady was reading a magazine. I told them I wanted a set of nails and the nail tech had an attitude because he had to wake up. As he was doing my nails another lady walked in and said she had an appointment with Maria. The lady proceeded to tell her that Maria had called in sick and that she would take care of her instead. The lady then said «Does Maria still work here because this is the third time I have come in and you tell me that she is sick». Not sure if there is any truth there but if you haven’t seen Maria in a while then she may no longer work there.
Back to my set of nails. The were horrendous. He was done filing and buffing them and was about to paint them and they were not even smoothed down. They were still very jagged and not ready to be polished. Needless to say I walked out and found another salon (Excel Nails, and they were awesome) to finish the job. When the nail tech saw my nails he could not believe that this work had been done at a salon. He had to re-​sand and file my nails. Thankfully he knew what he was doing and was able to make them look beautiful. This place looks awful on the outside and it represents the way things are run on the inside. I will never go back to this place and I recommend that you find somewhere else to spend your hard earned money!!!

Maria was very nice but the polish on my toes is all messed up! And my manicure was decent at best. I had to ask her to re-​file my nails after I noticed the sides were jagged. It was only $ 41 for a pedicure, manicure and to get my upper lip waxed. Well, you get what you pay for. Won’t be coming back to Lux Nails.

Agree with other Unilocal reviews. The place doesn’t look fancy but the pedicures are good. They spend time on you and pay attention to detail. My only complaint was that they told us there would be an hour wait and then before we could leave to go do other things, they told us they were ready and sat us down. However, this resulted in us sitting with our feet in water for almost an hour until the water turned room temperature, our feet were prunes, and our butts were numb, waiting for the only 2 employees to finish up 3 other pedicures. Was not happy about that. But can’t complain about the quality of pedicure for the price.

New Hot Spot, Pedicure, massage on legs, pop the toes, hot oil was the cherry on top. Inexpensive, only $ 27.00 took less than 35 min, still made it to work on time, just around the corner from wrk, will defiantly bring the kiddos

I normally would not have stopped here for a mani/​pedi because it honestly looks pretty dirty once you walk in… But, since it had great reviews I decided to try it out. All I can say is WOW! I got one of the best mani/​pedis of my life. They took their time and made my nails look so perfect! I also noticed that they did indeed sterilize all of the tools that they used. I will be back!

That hot wax burns so good! My pedicure was soooo relaxing! I was the only one there at noon on a Wednesday and it was wonderful!
Don’t let the outside fool you-​this place is legit!

The price is only $ 25 for a pedicure and it comes with the wax. My tech was Maria, she was really nice and paid great attention to detail. I got a French on my toes, it’s still on and it’s been a week only a slight chip but that’s because I’ve been wearing a lot of close toed shoes. The only thing my friend and I didn’t like is that the man working there was rude to her. He also did my friend’s shellac and he didn’t really so a good job at it and left spots with no nailpolish.

*BEST MANICURE/​PEDICURE OF MY LIFE*
While vacationing in San Antonio for a week with my family, I decided I wanted to get a manicure and pedicure. Not only to treat myself while on vacation, but also my cuticles were very bad and in need of professional care.
After digging through reviews of nail salons on Unilocal,I finally came across Lux Nails. Not only was it not too far away, but the other reviews were good and it was decently priced.
Let me say this right off the bat: if you’re a glamour girl who needs a 5 star salon atmosphere, this is not the place for you. The inside is nothing fabulous. And yes, the floors near the chairs were slightly dirty/​scuffed. But the tools and equipment they use are clean and sterile. And their service? PHENOMENAL.
I had two very nice ladies working on me at the same time; one for hands and other on feet (they asked me before of that was okay. So if you dont want both at same time you can decline). They washed and soaked my hands and feet. The usual treatment ensued (trim, file, cuticles softner, etc.). However, the part that really impressed me was their patience and attention to detail. They both trimmed and tended to my cuticles to remove all dead skin, hangnails and the like. And thy continued to check to see if they missed anything.
The bonus was a free paraben wax foot treatment! So cool!
Overall incredible service, treatment and all for very little money.
Definitely will be returning next year!

Mary is great! Definitely recommend her for a pedicure. She worked for a long time cleaning up my cuticles… which is my biggest problem/​why I get pedicures. But I didn’t even have to tell her that… she did her thing & did it well.

This place was not as good as other reviews indicated. It seemed dirty. They were nice. They cleaned the utensils and spa. The price was less. You just can’t ignore the filthy floor, dirty walls. causing you to think what else? The photos made you think the place was cleaner than it looked when I was there. If the place was as clean, then the photos would have been helpful. Because the photos made the place look pretty good. It was part of the reason I chose the place. other than previous reviews. Again, they were nice and helpful and seemed to do a good job otherwise.

I move a lot and it’s always hard to find a good nail salon when I do. I went to Lux N Nails based on the reviews I saw on here and I wasn’t sorry! They were very thorough, and not busy, I think because they are «off the beaten path,» so to speak. I love that a paraffin wax was included in the basic pedi.

My friends and I are in SA for a conference and I found these reviews for this salon and decided we should all get pampered. We got immediate service and excellent mani/​pedis!!! We were all relaxed and are very pleased with our nails and toes! Thank you Lux!

Thanks to the previous review for Lux N Nails, my friend and I decided to check it out. The location is in an odd place and looks a little sketchy, but we decided to go for it.
Can I say one of the best pedicures I’ve ever had? The lady that helped me took her time and was very thorough in everything she did. My feet were baby butt smooth afterwards. And like Heather said, there was even a paraffin dip included in the pedi. After my pedi, a man did my set for me. He did a great job, and my nails haven’t lasted so long in awhile thanks to his great job.
My friend had shellac done to her nails, and they looked great — better than the nail salon that did them last time for more than twice the cost.
My pedi and set cost $ 47 without tip, and my friend’s shellac was $ 30.
If you’re looking for a nail salon that does a great job for a decent price, you’ll need to visit Lux N Nails.

Lux Nails was a random find. My ex-roommate’s aunt has a Chinese beauty salon right next door but they don’t do pedicures so we went next door to Lux and WOAH!
First off if you are going to get a pedicure ask if Mary is available. She is a super sweet Vietnamese woman who runs Lux with a male counter part. They usually have one extra worker. Mary gives the most thorough pedicure I have ever experienced, at least 45 minutes for just $ 25. Included in the $ 25 is a parafin dip. For $ 3 more you can get a really cool design and Mary has an endless artistic eye. I have the smallest toes and she always manages to put something on my toes that looks cute.
I put clear polish on weekly and the design lasts at least a month til my next pedi.
I have never had acrylics done here but have had manicure– I think they offer a 35 pedi mani combo, just ask.
Overall BEST place to get a pedi in SA!
