Not at all family friendly — we found a bunch of biker types making crude comments loud enough for all to hear. This place is the pits.

This place is family friendly for sure it has a cute little play area for the little kiddos and an outdoor play ground for the bigger kiddos. I really like the old school ambiance of the place. Wetmore was actually the old general store built in 1894 also used as a railroad station. This was way back when this part of San Antonio was actually Wetmore, Texas. The barbecue eh not that great kinda like baked meat with no seasonings. The management is friendly. The only problem that I’ve had here is our waitress always seems to disappear on us when were squared away and ready to go and the place isn’t even busy at the time :/

I can dig this scene. Laid-back family-friendly joint with country sensibilities. The food? Had some smoked turkey nachos: sounds a bit crazy, but they taste good. Get the utlimate. Woulda had the brisket nachos Angela F recommended, but they’d run out of meat cos they had a surprise run on the joint the night I went. Also had a pulled pork sandwich on a jalapeño.cheese.bun(yup, that’s what I said). Oh, and the cornbread… Everything was tasty enough, the beer was cold, and the joint itself suited my mood for a chill hang out with decent munches. The bartender Woody kept my friend and me amused with his jokes and silly antics, and the rest of the staff was awesome as well — despite the surprise surge of visitors. I look forward to returning to try one of the burgers Jai J recommends — I saw one go by and I gave it the ojo, it looked so perty.(On that jalapeño cheese bun? I gotta try it…)

I’ve tried their pork spare ribs on several occasions now, and while I would prefer more seasoning, and more of a smokey flavor, I can’t fault them for what they deliver: big, moist, perfectly cooked ribs! I’d be happy to go back any day.

Brisket nachos… need I say more?! They were amazing! Well seasoned and flavored meat that melted in your mouth, beans, cheese, straight up goodness. BBQ sauce was kinda sweet but delectable. Decent happy hour… great price on pitchers. Mostly«crappy» beer selections like Bud Light(I prefer water to that cause I’m a beer snob), but the tolerable Blue Moon suited us well and was on happy hour special too! Good service, …not too instrusive… our waitress recommended some good menu items and even made a «combination» suggestion that saved us a couple of bucks for the same amount of food. I’ll be back!

This place is great! It’s a piece of San Antonio history with a menu to match. Perfect examples of home made Texas comfort food. The staff can move a bit slow so don’t come here in a rush. Our kids always have fun in the play areas. My son especially loves when a train rolls by across the street. In fact we’d go here after visiting the train museum quite often when he was in his Thomas phase.

Now known as the Wetmore Smokehouse & Saloon. Some of the best burgers in town. Surprisingly, I was more impressed with their burgers than their que but it’s no miss on their part, I just prefer that particular foodstuff from there. During the summer months it can get a bit humid but they usually have doors and windows open to cool it down a bit. Service is good but sometimes a bit slow. For the little ones, they also have a play area inside with toys and what have you. I know they also have live music during the weekends. It was a little hard to find the first time I went here but still a nice place to be a bit out of the way.

This restaurant is highly praised in the city of San Antonio and I had to find out for myself! This is one of the few places that I’ve been to that is balanced out for both adults and small children. For the adults you have your live music. Children have their own play area. Food is outstanding! Their bbq sauce has the right balance of sweetness and zest that won’t burn my anus. We ordered the 3 meat combo and the portions were ginourmous! Whatever you do do not pass up ordering the onion rings. The biggest I have ever seen! See why this place has won so many awards!
