Great service and environment. The waitresses were super nice too. The problem here is the food. I can cook better Mexican food at home. This is absolutely the most disappointing Mexican restaurant that I have ever been to. Being in San Antonio, I was really hoping for better. If they find a new chef I’m sure this place would do really well.

The food was not all that. I ordered a taco of Carne Guisada and country and egg taco. The carne Guisada meat was tough, had to keep on chewing to break down the meat. The flavor and taste was not all that. The country and egg not all that. The sausage meat was a dark color, as if it was old meat and was deep fried in the fryer. Not a good morning experience.

I ordered the flauta lunch plate. The flautas were good, but the rice and beans were lacking in flavor.

One of the few places that serve Sweetbreads, not the bread kind, the meat kind. They were cooked just right too. Everything we ordered was good and came out fast. They had karaōke going on and $ 2 margaritas. Tried the breakfast a couple weeks later and it was great. I recommend the French Toast plate. This place is better than the restaurant that used to be at this location. Parking is kind of tight though.

Chain restaurant with quick-serve Mexican food, tex-mex style. It’s not my favorite, but then again that’s not my type of Mexican food either! I just haven’t been impressed by breakfast tacos or lunch dishes yet. Still, it’s a cheap, air conditioned place to go if you can’t think of anywhere else. 5 stars= Driving across town just for this! 4 stars= I would recommend visiting. 3 stars= Average, acceptable, positive. 2 stars= You might be able to drag me in. 1 star= I will definitely not be returning.

I came in about 9:30pm on a Saturday night. I was promptly seated and asked what I wanted to drink. The waitress quickly returned with my water and a basket of chips and salsa. Unlike the other location on Somerset, the salsa was pretty cold; like it had been brought out of the refrigerator. It did not have quite as much cilantro like at the other place which I like. But you know what they say: hunger is the best sauce. After a quick glance of the menu, I noticed that the prices were a little bit higher than at the other location on Somerset. They did however have an advertisements for lunch specials during the week, Monday thru Friday, which did seem very appealing. I opted for a few tacos– some old favorites and some new – just to test the waters before delving head first into some of their platters. Like any taco connoisseur, I decided to eat the tacos in a specific order; from the lightest bodied and flavored to be heavier and fuller flavored. Machaca was a bit of a disappointment whereas I really tasted any meat in the taco. The sweetness of the corn tortilla overpowered the egg, jalapeño, tomato, and onion. Finally happy life by and I tasted this kind of me and it was pretty good. Although, I wished there had been more throughout the taco. The chicharron was a big mistake. It’s been awhile since I’ve eaten chicharrones and salsa on taco and I forgot that when you use a corn tortilla, they usually break in half. I salvaged what I could with the tortilla and ate the rest words a spoon that came with the deliciously spicy green sauce that is so common in SATX. The chicharron and salsa would probably be better in a gordita or at least a lightly fried tortilla. After the chicharron, I began to crave some beans and then I remember that I ordered a taco with chorizo and frijoles. The chorizo was pretty greasy and it oozed out of the opposite side of the taco during each bite. All and all a decent experience and I think I might return for a lunch special if I’m in the neck of the woods. It seems like a good deal when it includes the iced tea. Great service here, as well. Even at closing time.
