Solid Visit for Sure. Place was packed for a Monday afternoon, yet we found a spot to sit quickly. Service was really good. Start with the basics… Chips, Salsa, Queso. The Salsa the came with the chips had a great flavor with just enough Heat. Had a couple of bottled(Red/Green) sauces sitting on the table. Both had a great flavor and quit the bite. A bit of the Red added to the queso was the perfect touch.(Great $$ on the Queso for a Large) Wee one had the chicken nuggets and fries. Both crispy and Hot. She munched through them in no time at all. Wife went with the Beef Chiladas w/red sauce and for me, Chicken Chiladas w/green sauce. Rice was good, we both agreed on that. Was fresh and fluffy. Beans for me were spot on. Great flavor! Wife was put off a bit my the use of a potato filler in the Beef Chiladas, not a lot but enough, yet still good. Basic red sauce across the top had a good flavor. Really enjoyed my chicken Chiladas. Good flavor on the chicken. Green Sauce had a «Clean» Taste too it. Flavors were distinct and just enough tart/spice thru out. We all left happy and full. Bang for you Buck is a win for sure. I will keep this place bookmarked for a «Go To Joint» for some good food when we come back thru SA, but there is a lot of place to choose from.

We went for dinner last night. It was our first night in San Antonio. I would highly recommend this place. It’s not fancy by any stretch, but the food is awesome! It is like no Mexican food I have ever had and it took it to an entirely new level. Add to that the prices were crazy low for huge portions. They make a great margarita too that was only $ 3.99! I’d definitely go there again!

This place is SO good. Excellent quality food, great service, good atmosphere. Everyone in the place seemed to be Hispanic-and they were all enjoying their food :) Fairly crowded for a Wednesday night. I definitely plan to return! I loved their cheese enchiladas. OMG.

It really deserves 4 stars but nothing was hot when it got to the table. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious! Pozole-awesome! We had several different breakfast tacos and they were all really good! If only the food got out in a timely manner and was hot. We will definitely hit this place up next time we’re in the area. Update: management asked which tacos we had. I had a bean and cheese and a potato, egg, and chorizo. Boyfriend had bacon, egg, and cheese and a barbacoa and something else but I can’t remember. All delicious!

I do not know why this place has such high reviews, the food was below subpar. I ordered the enchiladas, 2 cheese and 1 beef, they tasted like the frozen dinner enchiladas. You cannot convince me that food was homemade! Just horrible! After serving me my food, the waitress never came back to see if I needed anything else or if I was satisfied. I wish I could give 0 stars!!!

So far good Mexican food in the infamous tex-mex community of San Antonio. Being from El Paso, it will do…

I love this place. We’ve been quite a few times. I mainly go for the queso as they are really the only ones near us that serve it. Everything we have ordered here has been good! It’s always hot and fresh. They are usually pretty busy so expect a wait sometimes. The staff is helpful and friendly too. It’s also very clean!

The food is good and authentic, but the service could be better(hence why they only got 3 stars). Being that I work in the area, I’ve been here several times for breakfast(great ham and egg tacos) and for lunch. I probably won’t go back since there are several spots in the area with better service.

The food is great but like every other place, never ask them to remake your meal. They WILL try to fool you as if they did.(I ordered a Jalisco burrito with guacamole and sour cream inside the burrito, with no rice and beans on the side. I got rice and beans and no guacamole or sour cream in my burrito so I thought I could ask them to fix it. Another waitress got upset with our waitress and told her to go tell the cooks to remake it for us. Well what they did was take it back for like ten minutes, brought it back and my friend noticed there was more chili &cheese on it than last time. So I turned it around and I noticed a small corner of the burrito that I had cut on the last burrito looked the same. I scratched off the chili and cheese of and it WAS the same burrito they took back. I then scratched more cheese off the center of the burrito and realized all they did was cut my burrito in half and stuff the guacamole and sour cream in the center and caked it all over with more chili & cheese)

Brightly lit, filled with a wonderful mix of families, couples, all ages, races, stations in life. A great representation of south side San Antonio. Food was outstanding. The Texas plate had the most tender beef I’ve maybe ever had and a great cheese enchilada to boot. The fajitas flameado was flavorful and plenty. In fact, both plates were stuffed with food. We tried to save room for dessert, of which they had several. But that will have to wait for next time. Which will be soon. The staff is friendly and not pushy. Just felt like after a good party when everyone is family and hanging out in the kitchen munching.

Delicious, authentic mexican food for a fair price. the margaritas are on point, as are their sauces, and of course the handmade tortillas are fantastic. I got the enchiladas verdes and ate way too much because they were so good!

Just as I thought, that one off experience was a fluke as I have been back quite a few times recently and everything has been perfect. I can’t say enough good things about this establishment and it has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants that I now frequent quite often. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves Mexican food as much as I do.

I was also unsure about this place and avoided it for a while to «stick to what we know.» But it’s very friendly. Good food. Inexpensive. One reviewer had issues with the al pastor, but I liked it a lot. They have a drive thru that doesn’t take too long if you’re on the go.

I was recommended this place from our desk clerk at our hotel while staying in San Antonio. Recently 3 friends and I ate here for dinner the first night, and it was truly authentic and excellent! The next night 15 of us ate here(dove hunting group from Fulshear) and it was incredible! Margaritas, chips, red and green salsa, and all of our dishes were delicious. Prices are great, portions large, and the wait staff is fast and very friendly. We all have talked about this place as we have returned home, and will definitely go back on any trips to the area! Great Restaurant!!!

Oh my oh my, I did not expect this great of food from the outside! Came in on a whim & word of mouth from friends. It is self seating & my bf & I were greeted quick. The menu was easy to read with pictures of the dishes so you knew what you were going to get! I ordered the chicken enchiladas & my bf ordered the carne flameado(?). Both dishes were so BIG& so DELICIOUS!!! The one thing I always looks for in a good Mexican restaurant is how their rice & beans taste. They were very tasty & well seasoned! There were plenty of leftovers & they were delicious the next day! Try this place out! I think there are multiple locations around San Antonio as well!

At first I had low expectations of La Perla. But I had a change of heart and dined here for after noticing a coworker get breakfast tacos. The service here was friendly. I ordered a Mexican coke and 3 tacos: carne guisada, al pastor and barbacoa. The carne guisada and barbacoa tacos were very good. I’m not too fond of the al pastor here. And the prices here are cheap. I didn’t have to spend no more than $ 10.
