First time I ate breakfast here it was outstanding! Their cornbeef hash, best in town. When my sister came to visit from Connecticut I brought her here for breakfast. Total disappointment! food including the coffee, was barely warm! We waited an hour for this lousy breakfast. Never going back!

It wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t bad either. I compare it to a ihop or Denny’s. I enjoyed the new foods but the waitress took forever to come and check on us for drink refills or anything we needed. Also, we waited 20 min just to get our check. The wait time just to get in was 45 min.

I saw the reviews on Unilocal and decided to bring my family here for brunch. The establishment is very nice and looks very clean. The staff seemed welcoming and polite. The food we ordered looked and tasted average. The coffee on the other hand was really good! Three stars!

First, the good: the food is excellent and if you can stand the long waits, you will be rewarded The bad: I have been a regular customer since they opened. We have celebrated many family occasions here, including my fathers 90th birthday. I flew in for Fathers’ Day. Dad wanted Magnolia and as usual, we called in our order to pick up(Dad is 96 and can no longer leave the house). After leaving several messages, finally someone answered and told us they would not do take out orders today.(By then, we had already driven 20 minutes to the restaurant.). We are told that we must wait 90 minutes and get a table in order to put in our to go order. No matter that he is disabled and can’t travel. No matter that we have a flight to catch. No matter that we have been good customers since they opened. I will wait today because it’s what my father wants for Fathers’ Day, but I won’t be back!!! My thought days later: simply putting a message on their machine that said they would not be able to do take-out orders that day would have solved the problem.

We saw this amazing place on Diner’s Drive Inn’s & Dives. AWESOME food! We ordered the APPLEPFANNEKUCHEN. Highly recommend! Also Calico & Corned Beef Hash. Delicious! The regular buttermilk pancakes were also fluffy and tasty. Don’t miss this top notch restaurant!

Okay, this place is delicious! The only thing that doesn’t give it 5 star is that prices are way too high for the image being projected. This place needs a better branding in order to demand higher prices.

I’ve spent nearly a year of my life in San Antonio over the last 25 years in the military but I’ve never spent much time checking out the local food scene. We pretty much kept to the 410 strip of restaurants so when I came back to see my son graduate from basic training, I thought maybe we should see what else is out there. I mean, he hasn’t had a real egg in 8 weeks so at least i could get him a decent omelet to celebrate right? I have now concluded that this is THEBEST breakfast in all of San Antonio and if you don’t believe me, ask the other 60 – 75 people waiting outside to get in. They’ll tell you the same thing about this scratch restaurant. I couldn’t decide between the traditional eggs benedict and the pulled pork eggs benedict because I have to admit the idea of BBQ sauce mixed with the hollandaise sounded a little weird. The waitress assured me that as weird as it sounds, it really works and she was right… they nailed it. I am a huge eggs benedict fan and this might be the best one I’ve had. I also tried the scratch made corned beef hash and it’s easily the freshest, cleanest tasting corned beef hash I’ve ever had. Everything from the french toast and omelet my son had to the pancakes and eggs my wife had were simply amazing. I you aren’t eating breakfast here you are just wrong!

My friends chose this place because Guy Fieri had been here on one of his shows. It turned out to be a lovely place for a nice, hot Southern breakfast. This place is well known and can get crowded, so expect a slight wait time. Even on a weekday morning, it was a 15 minute wait. The place is spotless and pretty big with few separate rooms for seating. The pancakes were excellent — very fluffy and soft. However, all of the breakfast stuff we had here was great. I loved my breakfast scramble(mix of home fries, eggs and sausage) and would highly recommend that. Large portions and pleasant servers.

The Southern Bennie IS the reason to come here! That dish is epic! Easily a 5-star dish! It was soooo good we ordered a second Southern Bennie. We also tried the Joe’s Eggs. Good, solid, but not exceptional. 3.5÷3.75 out of 5. The waffles were very good. We tried the Pecan and Peach Waffle, and Mixed Berry Waffle. Both were very good. About a 4 to 4.25 out of 5. The pancakes were good. Not the world’s best. But good. We tried the Bacon Pancakes and the Chocolate Chip Pancakes. The Bacon Pancakes would likely have been improved with addition of pears. And the standard we have for Chocolate Chip Pancakes is very high after having been spoiled by the Chocolate Chip Pancakes from The Original Pancake House both in Dayton OH and Primm NV(the 5 out of 5 star chocolate chip pancakes are topped with fresh whipped cream and taken to another level if you opt for the homeade strawberry syrup!!). 3.75 out of 5. We tried two of the french toasts – a peach and marscapone french toast and I think a banana bread french toast with fresh berries. Both were too dense and not sweet enough. We left most of these uneaten. 2.5 out of 5. We definitely would eat here at least one more time in order to sample some of the other pancake options and french toast options. And we would definitely get the Southern Bennie!

My mother and I wanted breakfast and almost went to ihop until we saw the horrible reviews of the one near by. When I looked for another breakfast place close by this place popped up with good reviews and we decided to try it out… We arrived and it was a packed house… we were told there was a 25 minute waiting period. we decided to wait it out and we are both glad we did… Our waiter was very kind and curteaus… and we were informed this was a German based restaurant which was definitely a lovely surprise… Needless to say this was our first German breakfast expirience and we both loved it… I ordered the Magnolia Breakfast that came with 2 pancakes 3 eggs hash browns and 3 slices of bacon… The bacon was delicious. had an amazing crisp and slight smoked favor… the hash brown was very unique yet super good. Had an onion taste to it and I love onions so I enjoyed that… the pancakes were so yummy definitely had that buttermilk flavor… at first I was scared of their«haus-made» syrup because it was the consistency of water… however it’s actually really good… my mother and I enjoyed every bite… I did not order coffee but my mother said it was really good and it was the first time she drank 2 cups in a row… Whenever I crave a breakfast place in San Antonio I will definitely return

First breakfast and meal I’ve had in Texas. Thank you for the most amazing breakfast ever. I had the hash brown casserole plate: Three cheese hash brown casserole filled with diced Canadian bacon, roasted red bell peppers, Rosemary, garlic, topped with crispy Parmesan and bread crumb topping with two eggs and pancakes(I upgraded to blueberry pancakes). Pancakes: super moist and taste like heaven in your mouth. Also. I’ve been doing hash brown casseroles wrong my entire life. Im totally doing my hash browns like this from now on! Service: great! Waitress was always checking in on us. And we got in and out in a fashionable manner. The only downside is the wait. It’s always crowded. But it’s PACKED for a reason. Totally worth the wait.

Not too long of a wait for a mid-morning breakfast. Got crowded quick, but this place had separate eating areas which makes it feel more like home. The food was outstanding; cooked well, flavorful, nice presentation. The coffee says a lot about a restaurant and this coffee was the stamp of approval for this place. Justin rocked! While serving our table, he also had several other tables to tend to. We had the Denver frittata and the Jambalaya omelette and shared the fluffy apple pancake that was the size of a platter. Everything was delicious and we’ll definitely come back.

This was my second visit to the Magnolia Pancake Haus and the food is excellent. We ordered the Smoked Salmon hash which was a daily special and it was probably one of the best breakfasts that I have had. My one and only complaint is that I asked the server if their orange juice was fresh squeezed to which he replied«yes». Since I know that most places say yes to this question even though it comes out of the box I again asked for clarification that it was indeed fresh squeezed and not out of a box. He again replied«yes». Needless to say when I got my glass it was the usual pasteurized boxed crap and not at all fresh nor squeezed. I really hate it when restaurants lie.

Popular place among locals. Coming on Tuesday morning still required a 45 minute way for a table of 6. Granted it was Spring Break, that explains the kids but this place is good enough to warrant it for sure. Walking in, you’re reminded of a southern home with all its charms. There is a focus on breakfast food here but you can get sandwiches and burgers as well. I ordered the corned beef hash with grits but also got to try the bacon pancakes and eggs Benedict. Portions aren’t huge — which actually is fine. Places that get by on giant portions have their place, but this place is good because you can really tell everything is made with some amount of care. The ham on the eggs benedict and the corned beef in the has was smoky and tasty. It would be quite possible they smoked it there. I wouldn’t be surprised. Start your day right with the most important meal of the day!

We had no problem with waiting to be seated or for our food. The gluten free pancakes were delicious but I was disappointed they didn’t have real maple syrup. They only had a flavored one they make. The server was very helpful and nice.

Magnolia is a San Antonio staple for a reason. Like a well-oiled machine this place just runs and runs and runs and never quits. Expect to wait, it’s bound to happen, and it’s totally worth it. You honestly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu but I’m partial to the omelettes and benedicts. If sweet is your thing at breakfast you should try any of the pancakes(according to my SO). If my dish doesn’t come with it, I always add the breakfast potatoes on the side. They have the perfect seasoning and texture. Leaving a carafe of coffee on the table is a nice touch. No more do you achieve the perfect balance of coffee, cream, and sugar to have it ruined by an over-eager server just«topping off» your cup. Now, you can be in control of your coffee– bliss! If only I lived closer and could indulge every weekend…

Came here on a Saturday for breakfast and I will give a couple of tips before you go. This place can get very busy, come on a rainy day or very early in the morning to beat the rush. We came about 9am on a cold rainy Saturday and only waited 10 minutes. I really like that they take your cell number and text you when your tables ready. Every time I come here I always get pancakes or waffles(which are great) but wanted to try something more savory this time. I ordered the crab cake Louies Benedict and it was amazing!!! My new favorite item to order here now. It has a beautiful poached egg sitting on top of a fresh homemade, warm biscuit and on the outside a creamy sauce with lumps of crab! It is on the smaller side than most of their larger dishes, but well worth it. If you feel you want a little sweet with the savory, your in luck because it comes with a side of 2 pancakes as well! Score! I feel this dish is a decent price, especially for having crab it in at $ 12. I love the décor was well, I feel like I’m eating in my grandmothers kitchen with all the homey touches. My favorite section to sit in is on the left large side so I can view all the beautiful designer plates on the wall!

I love this brunch place. Best brunch I have ever had from all the different brunch places and different cities I’ve tried. The wait was over an hour, but well worth the wait. With everything in the menu we ordered, we could get a side of pancakes. Life is heaven! Their chocolate chip and blueberry on new we’re delicious: soft and airy. The beef corn hash is so good! And I’m normally not a fan. The eggs Benedict also delicious. Best part is the fresh squeezed OJ and mini champagne bottle for mimosas. Mimosas are a bargain!

Love magnolia pancake haus! I always go super early so I rarely have an issue with waiting in line. It does take a little time to get your breakfast but this isn’t McDonalds. The money can be a little overwhelming to a breakfast person. You’ll want to end up getting more than one entrée but just remember their servings are generous. Service — I’ve never really had perfect service there. I’ve never felt like I was a priority to the server since they probably had way too many tables to attend with bigger parties. But other than that, they were never rude. Just usually hard to get their attention. Food — food always excellent. I’ve tried their banana pancakes, silver dollar pancakes, cinnamon pancakes, whichever pancake you choose I’m sure you’ll love it. Their breakfast plates are great! I love their hash. Make sure to tell them to well scramble your eggs if you don’t like it watery. I would definitely recommend as long as you have patience. Side note– on weekends we decided to order take out since we didn’t want to get elbowed with all the people eating. Their takeout for breakfast is one of the few that looks just like dining. Well presented and not half-ass. Like IHOP who’s takeout is a joke… I know only do takeout in the weekends.
