I judge first by chips and salsa and they did not disappoint! Good flavor and heat. Had Verde enchiladas which were delicious. Server was very personable and took great care even while training. A+ margarita as well!

I like Tilo for its happy hour. Margaritas are strong and pretty inexpensive. Bar appetizers are well made and delicious as well. I’ve spoken with the owner, Jose, and found out all of the ingredients used in the food are actually higher grade than typical restaurant food. I also like that the place is pretty quiet most of the time, so it’s good for a meeting if you actually need to get something accomplished. The down side to this place is the bathrooms have a funky smell to them sometimes. It’s not that they’re not clean, they just smell funny. That needs to get fixed.

Eaten here a few times now and everything is delicious! Friendly staff. Carne asada tacos are my favorite. The Only complaint I have is the charro beans aren’t great. Definitely my go-to for Mexican

The food was fine. Rice and beans were dry. Verde sauce was great on enchiladas. Great atmosphere.

We came here by chance since we don’t usually come up to this area. Unfortunately nothing about this spot inspires me to return. We sat ourselves and our waiter made it over for drink orders quickly. It took longer than it should for him to return to our table with drinks and to take our order considering there were 4 other tables occupied in the restaurant with one other waiter. Our food was slow coming out but was definitely hot on arrival. I had the mole enchiladas with beans and rice. The food was rather bland and the rice dry. I can’t say anything bad about this place nor can I say anything good. Would I recommend this place? No.

Frequent patron of Tilos. Used to religiously get the steak fajita chimichanga with nacho cheese and loved it. Decided to switch it up and do the big steak fajita burrito with the nacho cheese. Loved it. My new go to. Highly recommend but be warned, it’s the size of a 40 oz tallboy lying on its side so be hungry.

I, too, would give no stars if that was an option. We went at 6:30 the night before Thanksgiving, and the restaurant was virtually empty, which should have been a warning. The service was atrocious, especially since there were only 3 – 4 other parties in the restaurant. It took 15 minutes before we were asked for drink orders and 20 before we got chips and salsa, and about 30 before we had utensils. The margaritas were awful. They were mix-based and what’s the point in going to a Mexican restaurant for a mix-based margarita? The food was okay(just okay), but we were forever lost by that point, although the service never picked up. Steer clear!

Really good barbacoa and bean and cheese tacos. I can’t really speak much else on the restaurant since I got it to go, but it was speedy and the meat wasn’t too fatty, tortillas are really good, not the traditional all white corn tortilla but a really thick yellow one, almost tastes mixed. The bean and cheese on flour was almost equally delicious. The only negative was they forgot my limes. They included everything else cilantro, onions, green salsa, but you can’t have barbacoa without the limes! Oh well next time I’ll double check

My Best friend and I usually come here on Sunday afternoons. They have big red and Mexican food! Definitely a hangover cure in San Antonio! Love their food and the staff is always nice to us!

We tried so so hard to like this place. The food tastes great but it wicked oily… SLOWESTSERVICEINTOWN. The cook, as the waitress told us, thinks he can handle it by himself not needing another cook… if there are more than three tables, two tacos and a margarita will keep you here for two hours, 1 hour to get the tacos…

First of all. the ambiance there is not what is pictured on the Internet. We checked in here on Unilocal and wanted to use our Unilocal free offer for sopapillas. We showed it to our waiter and he didn’t even listen. As we ordered our food, we asked for more chips and salsa. He quickly forgot and found him talking to coworkers. The restaurant was not even busy, he just didn’t care. I have to admit though the salsa they have there is really good. I don’t think he meant to be non attentive he just was. I finally had to repeat myself again about the free offer and it was good but not that great. I’ve had better food. This is my first time here in San Antonio and cant believe I still haven’t found a place to blow my mind away. Oh well. the search is on.

Wanted to like this place since it’s so close to my place but… Alas. Service was too slow for an all but empty restaurant. I’m talking about the waitress and the kitchen here. Prices are in a good range but I’m really bummed about my Chilaquiles this morning. I’m a big fan and know that each place does them differently. I definitely prefer mine to have eggs over easy on top, if that’s an option. Today, I ordered them and the gal asked how I liked my eggs and I told her over easy. She came back with them scrambled. It’s not the end of the world but to specify and have it be wrong is a bummer. I wasn’t crazy about the cheese they use either, felt plasticky. The bf wasn’t impressed with his huevos either. On to other places I’m afraid.

This place is bad. The fajita(could be just on that day) meat was old limpy and bad with freezer burns. Tiniest portion. Cheese was salty cheddar. Salsa is horrible. Overall really bad.

With only 4 others in the restaurant at 7:30pm on a Saturday night, it should have been a sign. I would have given it 2 stars but the service was prompt & polite & I really liked the tortilla chips & salsa. They also had decent charro beans. The chicken, beef & sauces on the enchiladas were blah, blah, blah. I also didn’t see signs of Tex Mex on the menu unless food swimming in cheese sauce counts. I might try again to gage their drinks at happy hour since it is just down the street from where I live. At least I know the chips & salsa are decent.

My wife and I love to take the kids to Tilo. Food is great, drinks are generous, prices are fair and the atmosphere is always friendly. Service can be a little slow at times, but the owner is usually there and makes you feel right at home. Tilo’s is kid friendly and they have some kind of nightly food and drink specials almost every day of the week.

Pleasantly surprised good meal great value and Excellent service. Will be back. Mariachi’s were great … Nice place for a Friday night to relax. My wife did not care for the fish tacos not because they were bad just not to her taste. They graciously replaced the item without batting an eye. Rare to find the quality of service and management that is represented here.
