Freezing cold in the restaurant. Moved tables twice. Second move was into an area that was supposedly for a private party… Even though they say us there –6 or 7 people let us know after we sat down. Quite rude. Too many other options in the area to stay. Sitting at Mash’d now waiting on our drinks. Shame on you Lion and Rose for making guests feel so uncomfortable… And for being too cheap to turn on the heat.

I wanna start by saying that I love Lion and the Rose. My husband and I frequent the one on Broadway a lot, and I would highly recommend that location. With that being said, there were a few things I think this place could work on. My husband and I always get our favourites, and since this one is closer to where we live, we thought we would give it a shot. My usual is a Reuben sandwich and his is the meatloaf with mash potatoes. He was served barely cooked mash, and dry meatloaf, while my Reuben consisted of 3HUGE(over 1 inch thick) slices of corned beef. I am not a picky eater and would have gladly eaten it, but I had to deconstruct it on account that the meat was so chewy. I politely asked to get mac and cheese instead, and my husband just finished what he had. Our waitress was super friendly and lovely, and the wait time was near zero. My Hot Toffee naughty coffee I usually get was spot on as well. The food was subpar. Honestly, cut your losses and travel to Alamo Heights. The atmosphere feels way more of that of an actual pub, and the food is much better.

Lovely dinner. This is the fourth Lion & Rose I’ve been to and my favorite. Bright and cheery! Tried their turkey, cranberry and walnut sandwich with Mac and cheese. Both were very tasty and the Mac and cheese was the perfect temperature. Britney was out server and she was awesome! Ask for her when you visit.

I would say the food is pretty average. Grilled cheese had good flavor, but the cheese wasn’t hot when it came out. Mother said the bacon wrapped chicken appetizer was delicious, and the stepdad enjoyed the meatloaf, though he did say it was a bit bland. The fried mushrooms were good too. They give a large amount of food! Beer selection is nice. They support local breweries like the Twisted X beers. The parents really like the Fuego jalapeño pilsner. The atmosphere was very laid back, and the patio will be nice once the weather warms up

Good food… not exactly authentic but tasty… there are plenty of drink options and the service is good. Good place your hang out and watch the game or place to meet up for HH.

So… It’s Christmas… Where do you eat? We stumbled on new spot at The Rim so we thought we’d give it a shot. There’s a line to get seated… So we decided to sit at the at the bar… We asked the hostess if we could sit at the bar and she said. If you can find a seat. Clearly someone is bitter that’s they have to work on Christmas! She was rude and nasty… we sat at the bar and received excellent service from Kailea!!! Made up for the bitter chick at the door.

Food was great and service was also. We went on Christmas Eve and there were very few guests, so I can not tell you what service is like on a busy night. Our waitress Mya was super nice, so say hi to her forbid if you are lucky enough to get her.

We decided to try this new restaurant last night and we were totally disappointed. On a Friday night at 6:30 most good restaurants in the Rim are packed and this place was about half full, which should have told us to avoid it. My wife and I both ordered the fish and chips, which any good English Pub should have as a signature dish. It came with two very large fish fillets which was a good start but the battered fish was soggy and totally tasteless. The home made chips were just as soggy and tasteless. I think Long John Silvers has better fish than we had last night. The bar drinks were good but our server was very slow and this was not acceptable considering the place was not close to being full. We most likely will not come back again as there are too many good restaurants in the Rim area.

Been coming for a while and gotten to meet the stuff theyre great and cool people food was gotten way better from when they first opened. Plus they are opened till 2 am every night so it haves nice social group. Mark is my boy at the bar. Katy is 2 legit 2 quit, Very hospitable and fun, grace at the bar is chill along with Caroline as for the waitresses Pam has served me and did good and then Jenna as well both sweet and great servers and made the experience comforting! Prices are fair and drink specials everyday. Plus the have a fire place in the back patio. Which over looks the six flags scenery so date night is a good idea when they shoot off fireworks

This is a new facility which means there is no dungeon, stale cigarette stink. They also have a fantastic draft beer selection. Great experience! We will be back probably for their Sunday brunch(which is at every Lion & Rose) and it’s great. Nothing like an Irish breakfast and a great draft to wake you up on a Sunday.

Nice place with good beer selection and good service. Hubby enjoyed his burger here and I had a salad. It’s a good place to get together with friends and watch a game.

I prefer The lion and the rose on Broadway this one seems to lack the character from that one in Broadway and also from the one in 410, it feels like it lost a little of its charm. They do have a lot of very good beer so that is a positive thing, the price is a little high for a big beer you pay about $ 10, it feels a little steep. They have huge tv’s.

The manager wouldn’t allow us to watch an Ireland soccer game because he wasn’t a soccer fan. We had a big group ready to eat & drink. What kind of English bar doesn’t watch soccer?

The fish and chips are amazing. I’ve had lots of fish and chips, but theirs are the best. I had a Scottish egg for the first time, and I loved that as well. Our server was awesome and the atmosphere was great. They had the sports rolling on the TV, and we were surrounded by people who were there to eat good food, enjoy the games, and have a great experience. The Lion and the Rose delivered on all of that.

First off, for a pub to have a beer menu and no prices??? I don’t mind paying, but it says a lot of a restaurant with no transparency for their customers. Moving on, we both ordered main dishes. My side salad comes out, while he gets his main dish, and waited 10 – 12 minutes before the rest of my food came out. Timing for food delivery was off, and the food had to be sent back because it was cold. On the upside, the manager did take note of the food nonsense, and comp’d our appetizer. Overall, this was the second and last time to give this place a shot. Plenty of other places in the area with better quality food and ambience.

Didn’t eat ! Confused on the décor, is this a British pub or Lubys? Waitress or peasant server with crappy attitude from medievil times… your choice. They do have a reward program. But sparcley occupied with guests. And some of the staff DONOT need to be wearing the uniform. Extremely odd place. I would not be suprised to run into Gary Busey here.

I’m biased: I really like this franchise and I’m pleased there is one so conveniently located to me. It was my wife’s first time. The L&R is what I call a «proper pub.» We had brunch. She ordered the Scotch egg, which I recommend as an entrée to anyone. L&R makes very good Scotch eggs.(And really, who could make them at home?) I enjoyed a perfectly made club. On the«telly» was Premier league and a group of rabid fans. If you’ve never been to a British-style pub, you really should try L&B.

Our college alumni group gathered here one evening for a game watch party and despite a loss, I really enjoyed the place. Great setup with the TVs and a beautiful patio that included a giant fire pit. The menu was a little diverse, but still mostly stuck to the theme of English pub food(understandably so.) We ordered the scotch egg, some French onion soup, and a steak sandwich. It was all pretty good, nothing was overly amazing. We aren’t drinkers, but the group seemed to enjoy the various beverages offered. We will definitely return to try a few more things off the menu, but can’t imagine eating here too many times due to the specialized menu options.

Awesome. Great sandwiches and meals such as the Blacksmith Skillet, Whiskey Steak Sandwich, Jester’s Grilled Cheese Sandwich, and other great items we’ve enjoyed. We had a party of five guys from our office hosted by Mission Petroleum Carriers and David Olivares and Danny Robison and we enjoyed a great first time experience. We started out with the Chips and Dip. ‘Chips’ were fried round potatoes. Hot and fresh and very delicious. My co-workers had the Blacksmith Skillet and it was very delicious. Per menu, it has a grilled whiskey flavored steak on a bed of peppers & onions and loaded Colcannon potatoes on a sizzling iron skillet. Awesome. Nothing left but the skillet. The Jester’s Grilled Cheese Sandwich was ordered with melted Cheddar, Provolone& American Cheese on toasted Sourdough. We added a slice of tomato with Black Forest Ham. Ahhh, very nice. Served with fries. The Whiskey Steak Sandwich I had was awesome. I had to finish it. Tender marinated steak strips were delicious in that fresh baked bun. Menu states it is «tender whiskey flavored steak grilled to order, served slices on a Kaiser bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and red onions. Very, very awesome! I’m bringing my wife this weekend and my co-worker is bringing his wife. Ashley was an excellent waitress and she took care of our every need. Thanks, Ashley.

pro: I’ve always liked Lion the Rose décor. My sliders were hot and pretty. Our chips and petals were the highlight of the meal. Con: where to start? Our server, name starts with an «M», seemed disappointed we were two women and not two leering men, so she went through the motions, and did not try to up sell anything.(In fact, we had dessert elsewhere, because it was not offered to us here.) When my friend finally received her salad, it was covered with bagged cheese, or old cheese. It was cheddar covered with white plastic or white with age. My friend made a pile of it on the table, and our server was uncurious as to why. My friend, who is a foodie, compared her luke warm chicken pot pie, unfavorably to Marie Calendars. She pushed aside the soggy crust and made me taste the«reheated, and not reheated enough,» carrots. My sliders still had this weird sharp crease, I guess from the package it came it. My patties were well seasoned, the onions melted into the cheese nicely. I like that fact the lettuce and tomato were on the side, so as to not get soggy before hand. I ordered a «moulin rouge.» It was red and sweet, but I could not detect«spirits» in there at all. I was amused by my friend reporting that once she removed the old bagged cheese, her salad was actually good. «M» gave us the check without asking if we wanted dessert or asking why my friend had a pile of cheese on the napkin on the table. We had a great dessert elsewhere later that night. The waitor was fabulous and overtipped. Conclusion: Doesn’t seem like a lot of actual cooking is going on in the kitchen, if things are merely being reheated, and not very well at that. As for the uncurious and disengaged«M», I guess their uniforms lend itself to looking forward to flirting your way to a big tip.
