The service here was horrible. I think our waitress’s name was Elizabeth. First time every in my life I did NOT leave a tip. It took forever to get our food. Two orders were wrong. One had to be taken back. Then another 45 minutes or so to get that order, which we had boxed to go since the rest of the party was finished. Afterwards, wished I had told them to forget it. Took way too long to get the check paid. This and more on a on a night where they were not that busy. Elizabeth never ONCE apologized. Food wise, the crab cakes were horrible, the empanadas were delicious, chicken fried and bbq sandwich were just ok. The son of a biscuit sandwich might have been good, but since didn’t get to eat it until the next day, I am not real sure.

The air conditioning was broken, the hostess was having to clean each table prior to seating each party — those should have been red flags and I wish we would have left! We sat down and it took 15 minutes for our waiter to come by. Took an additional 20 to get drinks from the bar. Our appetizer(the threesome, which was tasty) came and we didn’t have enough chips. Finally had to flag down the manager after our appetizer had gotten cold, to bring more chips. Salads came with no croutons — waiter promised to bring them right out — lies. Then our steaks came — my father ordered medium and got his steak rare. The sides were okay. Overall, service was terrible, food was mediocre. Do yourself a favor and go to literally any other steakhouse.

it was my first time on the river walk and since it was scorching hot, we decided to cool down and have some lunch here. our server was relatively nice but when she had to take care of something, we had a very rude waitress take our order. she spoke to us in a very rude manner and we felt rushed to take our order. when our server came back, she apologized and then offered us bread and butter? I thought every table was supposed to receive bread and butter? I mean at the other location, we didn’t even get bread or butter at all. anyways our server gave it to us. everyone on our table was happy with their order(because we were all starving!) except my mother in law because she had asked for her sirloin to be Well done. it came out medium and we had to send it back. while we were all enjoying our food, she just sat there waiting for her food to be cooked at a correct temperature. THEN when it was sent back to us, it was still undercooked. it came back medium well… by that time, everyone was already finished with their meals and over it. overall experience was really bad and everything took really long(note that the restaurant was NOT busy at all) will definitely not return here. if it wasn’t for the other three meals, I would’ve gave this review one star.

This place is just horrible. The service is not great at all. Party of 13 and were barely ever saw the waitress, she had no other tables. Everyone’s food was cold or undercooked. A baked potatoe was old. I suggest no one ever come here. Save your hard working money for another restaurant.

Wow. I ignored the awful reviews but so wish I had listened. Amazingly bad on so many levels. Waitress had good intentions and worked hard but clearly the kitchen and staff are terribly managed. Took about 20 min for waitress to stop at table, then another 30 to get food. Ordered queso — came out almost cold and skimpy amount of chips. Ordered a bowl of steak soup — inedible, terrible. Tasted like over cooked beef jerky soaked in brown water. The only highlight was the homemade chocolate milk the waitress made.

Situated along a less popular section of the River Walk, this steakhouse serves mediocre/adequate steak. Had the smoked sirloin well done. A bit dry. The garlic spinach was too watery. Good prices and good services though…

I got lunch with a show. I arrived at 2:20 in the afternoon for lunch. Got seated right away in the bar. In fact, I was the only one in the entire restaurant. Outside the window I got to watch 2 drug addicts smoking something. They would smoke and then pass out. They would wake up smoke more pass out and do this over again and again. As for the food, it was over cooked and I had a hair in the mashed potatoes. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I had a steak burger. It was decent. It made my hungry pains go away. Otherwise, this was just your typical chain restaurant. Nothing really special about it.

The service and hospitality is what makes this a four star place. We were walking by, it was lunchtime and it looked welcoming. We were greeted by the hostess with a huge smile and she took us into the bar so we could sit by the window — all the window seats were filled in the restaurant area. Great start! Our server, Priscilla, brought menus and took drink orders right away. She was very friendly and was helpful with making suggestions both for the food and for things to do and see. She even brought us tour information wih maps. Her enthusiasm for San Antonia and making visitors feel welcome was mos evident. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. I had the Chicken Tortilla soup, my husband had the smoked sirloin with a side of fries. The steak was very tender and tasty, my soup was hot and spicy with a generous amount of chicken. The fries were a disappointment. They were flavorful, but a bit limp. I prefer crispy fries. It was good. The service was great the food good, and there was not a huge line waiting to get in. All made it a positive experience.

My food was delicious but the service REALLY needs some improvement. The manager was extremely nice and genuine. I am a server as well so I really hate giving Samantha a bad review but she was very absent the entire meal. Even with the table next to us, they had to talk to the manager and even grab their own menus. She was very rude and had a bad attitude. Didn’t check up on us at all. She was chatting with people at the bar for about ten minutes before her other table had to get up and go ask her for something. Overall the food was good and the manager deserves kudos.

Very disappointed, first we ordered the Texas sirloin, it was cold, i had ordered medium well, it was far too cooked. I had to send it back, manager did come speak to us and took it off our check. I stayed with my house salad, which seemed like it had old lettuce. Never will go back.

Good experience. Not too busy on the quieter side of the Riverwalk. Had dinner for my practice with a party of 17. Very friendly and prompt service. Big fan of their smoked sirloin with a side of creamy horseradish. Their wedge said is very good too. A few things off such as they twice got my appointment time wrong and they promised to bring a refill of chips 5 – 6 for all of the appetizers we ordered before they actually brought it out. Would go back next time I’m in the Riverwalk area.

As good as it gets! Party of three(one child) … Seating was efficient for a Friday night. The host staff was excellent and accurate on the length of the wait. Service was great! Management even came over a couple times to ensure everything was exemplary. Bar drinks are a little on the high-side; but this is to be expected at a Steak House. The food was(as always) amazing. We’ve been every Texas Land & Cattle in both San Antonio and Austin. The Riverwalk location is absolutely our second favorite(the only one that has been bad was west-Austin location). We will absolutely return to this location as often as we can.

A group of friends and I dined here last night. There were some decent happy hour deals for drinks, the the food was disliked by everyone. The queso appetizer was greasy and looked/tasted like warmed up processed cheese. A few ordered sliders to find a tiny slab of meat with a good percentage of fat on it. Also, who has ever heard of selling a dish of ONE slider… made poorly, for $ 3. I would not return.

I love the food here and have had ok service each time. For a steak house the beer selection is very poor. Today I tried calling to make a reservation and the first time I tried the line was busy. The next 4 times resulted in the phone ringing 10 plus times before I got tired of waiting and hung up. I’ve triple checked the number. It was not an easy task the last time I tried to make a reservation either. Very disappointed and will likely take my group somewhere else as I don’t have time to wait for someone to answer. Due to the prompt feedback from management, I am modifying my review. They were apparently having their phone line worked on.

We want to thank our server Evelyn for being SO great! Her communication was excellent. It was a long, late Christmas Eve and even though they were busy she was attentive and timely! She kept us up to date on any hiccups or delays, she really was great! Thanks everyone!

I won’t be leaving Texas without eating out in a proper Texas steak house. I looked at the selection on the River walk, and by a gamble’s chance, chose Texas Land and Cattle(I admit, the name has a ring on it). I was promptly seated on a lazy weekday and went straight to work: New York steak, medium. I did enjoy TL&C’s décor as two massive paintings of Texan cowboys adorn the dinning area. It didn’t take too long for my steak to arrive. The New York was cooked perfectly to my liking. It is well seasoned. And for my awesome steak test, I did not ask or wanted any A1 steak sauce.(Quick recap: any mediocre steaks I encounter gets a douse of A1 steak sauce) I would compare TL&C to our local Tahoe Joe Steak House in terms of taste and flavor. Oh, and I do like going to Tahoe Joe’s btw. I wish I had an empty stomach when I visited TL&C so I can taste more of their offerings but I was well fed on our work trip and just had to ‘sneak out’ in order to eat at a Texan steak house. Thumbs up for Texas Land & Cattle.

My husband comes to San Antonio often for business and this is a place he will eat at frequently since it’s located in the same building as his hotel. I’ve been here 3 times with him, the most recent last night. The service is good. Our waiter was very attentive. The food is nothing to jump up and down about, but it’s decent. The wedge salad is very good!

Here’s how I figured 2 stars: 4 stars for food and 0 stars for service. Seriously! The service was terrible. You ever had the feeling while waiting to be seated you should eat elsewhere? Well I told my husband that about 5 times while we were being ignored for 10 minutes at the hostess stand. We should’ve run like the wind. Pros 1. Great steak 2. Manager approached as we were leaving and coaxed us too stay. Said she would take care of us and well she did. I didn’t say she did it good but she tried. Bad day I guess. Cons 1. Being ignored even though the restaurant was mostly empty(there were about 5 other tables) 2. All waiters were sweaty as there was no hostess and no busboy. I saw a waitress wipe the sweat above her lip while carrying a salad… gross. All of the waitresses were in super slow motion. I realize it wasn’t their fault they were short staffed but they should close the restaurant early instead of letting customers see them so tired out 3. Manager’s printer was almost out of ink so our kids couldn’t read the menu or color the picture… shouldn’t they get those in bulk :-/ 4. Out of their signature sirloin steak 5. I never received one of my sides and the kitchen was closed… did they offer dessert in place of it… no. 6. My steak was cooked part well done and part medium instead of medium well. Manager said she’ll kill the cook(weird humor) but she comped my meal. She said it was due to the meat. Tell that to steakhouses who get it right! I read reviews from other TL&C in different cities and service seems to be s major complaint across the board. I think ill get my steak elsewhere until they come out with an «improved service» campaign. Did I mention we were on vacation.

This restaurant is actually in the lobby of the Drury Inn & Suites, but you can’t really tell when you’re walking in from the Riverwalk side. While walking along the Riverwalk, we spotted this steak place. It looked interesting, so we decided we would eat dinner here. One needs to have a steak when they are in Texas! —— Their statement copied from their website: «ABOUTTEXASLAND&CATTLERIVERWALK Texas Land & Cattle of San Antonio believes in bringing it all to the table and creating a dining experience that makes each meal special. Our menu is inspired by traditional favorites crafted with an unexpected Texas twist. We are committed to sourcing local ingredients whenever possible, and creating and serving dishes & spirits that define the Texas version of craft dining. Come visit us in San Antonio to experience true Texas flavor and hospitality.» —— The décor is Western themed, of course, being in Texas and all. I love the light fixture which is a wagon wheel on its’ side with boots along the perimeter on top of it. There is a Longhorn head with horns above the fireplace which seemed like it attracted photo takers. There was a group of young adults and one of the boys stuck his finger up the bull’s nose. We were seated promptly even though the place was really busy around 8PM on a Wednesday! The waiter brought out complimentary bread and butter, which made our daughter happy! We weren’t all that hungry, so we ordered a Porterhouse to share between 3 of us. We had garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach to accompany the steak. The steak was cooked well and was enjoyable, however, it really wasn’t the most memorable steak we’ve had! The spinach was really good and had 3 cloves of garlic on top, which I think were roasted. I enjoyed eating them with the spinach. Our friend ordered a New York Strip Steak with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. I tasted his green beans and they still had a light crisp to them. He must have liked his meal because his plate was clean! They serve steaks, chicken, ribs, seafood, tacos, with an assortment of Tex-Mex(«Border Texas») items at this place. A nice variety for everyone. Since we weren’t hungry to begin with, we sadly didn’t have room for dessert. The Jack Daniels Pie sounds like a winner! If there was a Texas Land & Cattle near me, I’d go back! However, the next time I’m at the Riverwalk, I would try out another restaurant for steaks.
