In a land infested with over priced low quality Tex-Mex food sits a run down building serving up full plates of hope and satisfaction. Successfully having bread the authenticity of the Mexican food with the stereo typical gringo favorites all at half the cost of its river walk rivals.

Breakfast– Food was very, very good… going back tomorrow. My friend ordered Caldo de Res– excellent. Great home-made tortillas; both corn and flour. Staff very friendly. Prices are very good. Everything is home-made. Great coffee. Parking is a bit of a problem but it’s worth the time. Small place. I went on a weekday so it wasn’t packed. Can’t wait to try lunch. Refrained beans were very good. I ordered an extra corn tortilla with butter at the end… they were that good.

A couple of things… First I noticed they need to get it together, especially during peak hours which are in the mornings for breakfast… People waiting for tables, people waiting to pay, people waiting for their food. We sat for a while waiting for 3 tacos. Really? Clean up, clean up, everybody please clean up. Ok, upon entering it does look clean but the clear glass counter where the register is has some old newspaper and a few napkins — That looks trashy! At least clear it out and put in some candy or some sort of decoration. The dry erase board looked like it hadn’t been touched since last Christmas. Salsa. Where is it? We only received a little bowl which looked like pico de gallo. People don’t like that, most people are used to BLENDED salsa. Not salsa in chunks. Taste wise… Hmmm, the potatoes are actually really good, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The tortillas are really good too. Beans are really good too. I’m not sure what my tacos needed but it was missing a little something. Not sure if I’ll be back, but if I do I’ll be watching closely :)

This is a great place for breakfast. The chilaquiles are one of the best I’ve had. My BF had the huevos rancheros. I don’t always eat refried beans, but these were delicious and I ate all of them. You must try the bacon, theirs is the best. I will come back to this place. I can’t wait to try their lunch menu.
