I love this place! I’ve tried several things here but the El Impossiblé is my favorite! Staff is always friendly and very quick. They are open odd hours but if you are able to stop in at night then you won’t be disappointed.

Being from South Texas(very close to the border), I find it near impossible to find AMAZING tacos like the ones I grew up with. I live in Austin but frequently come to San Antonio and after 11 years, the search for the perfect taco place is over! The food is exactly like the Mexican street food most of us sadly don’t get a taste of unless you grew up in a border town or in Mexico. This food was so good and I will definitely be going back. The meat was perfectly marinated, the Tortillas were authentic, the agua frescas were tasty, and the menu has the perfect number of options. Last and definitely not least, the owner and his employees were beyond friendly and accommodating. I really hope for more visits to El Piquin in the future!

Some of the best Mexican food I have had in Texas. The breakfast tacos are delicious and the salsa are fresh and tasty. Our server, Jose, was friendly and suggested the el pastor and it was delicious!!! I will be back tomorrow!

Great place. Really authentic mexican food. Everything is delicious. The costa is my favorite, and the salsa bar has a lot of things beside salsa, like lemons, chiles asados, cilantro, onions, etc. The portions of cheese in quesadillas, gringas, etc. are huge, and fresh. I’ll definitely will go back!

I’ve eaten once at the location and the service and food was amazing! Their charro beans… just as tasty as my moms… their al pastor was hot and fresh and their Tortas were made to order!

I called in an order but one number on the take out menu was disconnected and the other number was a personal cell phone which I thought was a wrong number. But found out it belonged to the guy doing the cooking when he called me back later. However, my desire for a little round corn tortillas loaded with pastor and chicken with a tostada asada back with some pintos and rice pudding sent me in the front door of this little taco house. I had already made my purchase and eaten the goodies before he returned my call. I almost ordered the fried cheese since he was on the phone, but had already downed a carb blocker so I passed. Menu items were all made fresh and the condiment bar had everything from roasted peppers and salsa to sautéed onions. I thought the beans were bland and needed to be dressed up with salsa, onions and cilantro. My only complaint is the to go bowls don’t have lids, so they use foil. Whoops!

Like the food. I believe it is over priced though. If it was a little more affordable I would go more often. The workers there do not speak English which makes it hard to order but they are very nice.

My hubby and I finally got to try out this place and it was good. Not the greatest but it was tasty. We both ordered the El Imposible which has cheese, asada, pastor and chorizo wrapped like a giant taco. We found these to be quite flavorful and on point. I also got a tostada and I was disappointed because it was cold. Its basically a chalupa but filled with chicken, mexican crema, avocado, lettuce and tomato. The avocado was also turning black already which indicated it had been sitting out for a while already. I was afraid to eat it. It was quite a bit pricey but I think I would only order the El Imposible again and nothing else.

Finally got around to remembering their hours(they open at 6PM) and stopped by the check them out. I remember getting a menu for them when they were a taco truck and wanting to check it out, but I always forgot. Stopped in tonight and ordered 5 tacos($ 6.50) and a cheese quesadilla($ 2). Food came out super fast and to put it simply… it was awesome. I ordered two asada and three pastor and they were excellent. The guy at the counter was even forgiving when I mixed up the meanings for asada and pastor and didn’t look at me like some crazy white guy who doesn’t speak a lick of Spanish. The asada was so good and I almost wished I had ordered more of those. Beefy and delicious without all the grease that another local street taco spot had gotten really bad about since they opened(I won’t mention names but they’re right down the road and way too greasy — I stopped going there because they were so bad). The salsa bar is packed with everything you could want — including roasted serranos which I can’t get enough of. They also had this red pickled looking onion which was excellent in the tacos. I’ve never seen it before but I love it. Everything in the salsa bar looked fresh and tasted so too. The quesadilla was simple — cheese and tortilla — just like it should be. They’re small, almost snack sized but packed with a really good gooey cheese. Simple street good at its finest. You can guarantee I’ll be back soon — cheap, excellent eats.

I don’t know what happened but this time the asada tacos didn’t have good flavor and meat looked like ground beef, not chopped carne asada.

el piquin is perfect for late night eats but i thought this place was just okay. it’s on the pricey side and to be honest i had better. the toppings were fresh but i felt a lack of flavor. there is many other mexican food joints in SA open 24⁄7 but this place closes 4am on wedesday– saturday. on monday and tuesday it closes 2am. i ordered their tostra and it was a whopping $ 10 pretty pricey if you ask me. my friend was raving about how good it was but when looking back to the menu, i should have just ordered the torta because it looks and has exactly the same ingredients and it’s only $ 6. really wish i can go and get my money back. anyway the tostra was just okay. i felt that there wasn’t much pastor meat within the fried cheese. during our visit the salsa bar was not complete and there was some missing especially the grilled onions! they also«ran out» of chicken that night. other than that, i wouldn’t come back.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Tonight was the second time that my family and I went there for dinner and everything was superb! The freshest of ingredients and so full of the true traditional flavors of Mexico’s cuisine. This will definitely be our family’s first choice for a delicious and authentic Mexican dinner! Our congratulations to Alberto for such a great place that was much needed!

Authentic, inexpensive, fresh, flavorful, and fast. What more do you need? If you’ve been to Taco Tote, this is a step up in every way. Everything is top-notch. Owner/chef is friendly. Place is clean. Salsa bar is great. Opens late and stays open late. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED.

The taco meat was very dry last time I was here a few weeks ago, so I’m knocking a star off. Also, every time I’ve been there they have young kids working. Normally, that’s not an issue and I chalked it up to being new and in training previously, but this visit they were acting pretty unprofessional. Joking with each other in front of customers, pretending to sleep on the counter to the kitchen window, etc.
