Sonia’s Restaurante Mexicano

Great little place. They are very fast and efficient and everybody always checks on all the tables. This made the atmosphere that much more enjoyable. You can sense when servers are fighting with each other or don’t like each other. But the food taste like grandma made it. I only had the cheese enchiladas but I will have to come back and try other items off the menu.

The beef taste as refrigerated for asada taco. Tripas taco was regular plus they only sell iced tea and can sodas.

Had a nice lunch here, Puffy taco plate was good, flour tortillas nice and thck… plenty of ice tea… air conditioned. give these folks a try if you havent…

Went through the drive thru for a couple tacos, then Got a mouthful of egg shells after taking a bite of my taco. Will be staying away from there. There is too much competition out there to slack in this department.

I came for breakfast and ordered the chiliquiles plate. The food was good, but the portions were small. The waitress was inattentive and impatient and it wasn’t even busy.

My breakfast partner is from Mexico and says that this is like eating homemade. I think it is delicious. The breakfast tacos are large and stuffed well!

I usually just do drive through here and get quick service. I would recommend the Suicide taco; it’s the bee’s knees.

Awesome home cooked food! Lunch specials come with tea and are super reasonable!

Ate here for lunch with my husband. We have been looking for a great Mexican place in SA and finally found it. The prices are right and each item had great flavor. Also the food came out fast!

I have been coming here for years. Its always consistently good food, fast friendly service and low prices! The inside and outside look needs some real renovation but the food and workers make it a classic place to eat!

The Carne Asada plate was good with perfect amount of spice from the pico, however it was a little to salty for my taste.
Service was great and the waitress was very attentive and kept our glasses filled.

I’m not sure how this place gets good reviews. The food is horribly bland. There’s not enough salt on the table to fix it. The friendly and quick service is a plus. Sorry, but scratching this place off the list.

Found this one on my friend Unilocal!Honestly had never heard of it or seen it but saw the reviews and decided to drag a couple friends with me to check it out for lunch.
Great place! Their chips and salsa were an awesome start and their menudo was yummy! Had gone to the place right down the street a week before and was so disappointed and am so happy I found this place! Service was friendly, she may have forgotten to fill our teas and refill our chips a couple times but overall she did a good job.
My friend loved their corn tortillas. I’ve always been a flour tortilla kind of girl and did enjoy their light and fluffy flour tortillas.
I would definitely recommend this place. Good food, affordable prices, clean place and friendly service.

From the moment you get the chips and salsa until you get your food is a matter of no more than 5 minutes. They have a drive thru and their tacos are awesome. I am from New York City and I have been in San Antonio for 5 years, and this is my restaurant of choice when it comes to Mexican food.
They are now giving you a free cup of coffee or Ice Tea if you tell them that you saw this special on either Unilocal or Facebook! 5STARS

Took the kids here after soccer games. Food was great and price was ok. Service was ok. We didn’t get drink refills and had to keep asking for second round of chips.

Thought I would do an update for Sonia’s. I’m still a big fan of Sonia’s it my go to lunch spot for Mexican food. I think the food is even better than ever. the enchiladas not as greasy as it use to be, and the breakfast tacos are made to perfection. I just wish Sonia’s was open for dinner.

Oh my goodness! What a great place! I had a new item for me: fidelio loco, a sort of soup that was very hearty and absolutely delicious. Prices were reasonable, and the meal included tea! I think I’m in love!

Fast friendly service, good food and a lot of Spurs spirit!
I am here almost every day, The waitresses know our group. We all eat Paleo so they grinned a little bit at us as we asked for modifications on the menu, but were happy to help us out. Now they just ask us «do you want the regular?»
The food is always fresh and the smiles are always genuine.
