4 out of 5 stars for location and atmosphere. Nice seating areas, a great place to hang out. Coffee and lattes are decent as well as the sandwiches. This place is further away from the hubbub of downtown, so if you want a quieter place to go downtown, this is it. Nice place.

I’d give it 3.5 — more interesting than the Starbucks across the street, definitely. Fresh pressed juice was good, coffee was really sweet(didn’t seem entirely intentional), «the sexy» sandwich was totally fine, and the people working there were really nice. Went twice during a week in SA.

Great local place! Espresso is good and their sandwiches are great. On The Sexy you basically get a full avocado! Great music too!

Love this little place. Lived in SA all my life but love to head downtown to find all the new places. Went here with my husband for breakfast. The selection is fairly limited but we chose the«Standard» breakfast sandwich, two, with two coffees. $ 20. The coffee is premium, and my husband knows as he is the coffee bean and extract manufacturing business. The sandwiches are fresh, different and plenty. The atmosphere is clean, cozy, trendy and I love people watching. Family, singles, friends… appropriate for all.
I went to Sip Coffee and Sandwich Bar because I was new to the downtown area, and wasn’t too sure what options that I had for breakfast. After looking at their menu for some time, I ordered their ice tea and their ham and cheese croissant. As for the ham & cheese croissant, it wasn’t very special — it tasted like warmed up ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on a regular Costco croissant — it was actually a little bit disappointing. As for the ice tea, they had free refills on the ice tea, so I took some to go. The service was nice though — the waitress was kind and patient as I looked at the menu. The café was located in the downtown area, so the food was a bit on the pricier side. However, the interior was cute and hip. There was an older couple that was dancing to the music, which was memorable — that actually made my morning :)

We were going to Starbucks for our morning coffee and breakfast sandwich when we saw this place. We decided try something new since we’re from out of town and OMG this place is freaking AWESOME! The sexy sandwich is tasty and amazing. I love that it’s fresh not a microwaved sandwich that you would get at Starbucks. The latte was served in a mug with a super cute design making you feel like you’re sipping a coffee in the comfort of your home. The staff(Nick and Meg) were very friendly and took the time to explain the menu to us. I am an avid Starbucks drinker but HIGHLY recommend this place instead. The travelers…

YAS. A legit coffee shop with great prices and awesome coffee. I came here with a group of foodie friends after an AWFUL«coffee festival» so we could get some REAL coffee. Their espresso is perfect and their shakarado is sooooo yummy. I must must come here again on the weekend!

A cool little local spot literally in front of «that coffee company». Served up some fresh juices, quick heavy bites, and heavenly pastries. A short walk from the Westin and other hotels from the Riverwalk. Skip the expensive hotel coffee shop and come here!

Hot coffee, samiches, but most importantly, super friendly staff. The tall bar at the windows is perfect for people watching downtown and using your latptop. The coffee was ok, nothing spectacular, but refills are free, that’s a bonus. Beware of the downtown freaks, they will walk in or glare at you through the window, but it’s just part of the downtown experience. Bums and freaks need coffee sometimes too.

Adorable little coffee shop. Great ambiance and friendly baristas. They made me a delicious iced chai latte and I loved the vibe. Not sure about the parking situation but it was just a quick walk from our hotel. Great find, can’t wait to come back!

Great coffee, great food and good atmosphere! I saw this place while walking to Starbucks. Stopped here instead and I’m glad I did! Had a soy latte and The Sexy sandwich. Latte was great and the sexy, nice toasty roll. Like a bolillo from HEB, a nice runny egg, crispy bacon and a ton of avocado. I’ll be back for both. Only down side is that your hair and clothes will smell like bacon for the rest of the day. Well actually. Not a down side.

I hate to say it, but Sip feels like a tourist trap. The coffee is overpriced and nothing to write home about. The employees seem disgruntled and unfriendly. The food has that airport quality to it. The last few visits have left me staring at the Starbucks across the street. I hope Sip changes things around.

I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews here. We found the service to be friendly and fairly quick. I wanted to come here instead of Starbucks next door because I could get fresh vegetable juice and it was awesome! There aren’t many places you can just stop in for fresh juice. Hubby enjoyed his sandwich. We would gladly come back when we are in the area.

The best part about this place was the granola with yogurt and berries. I’ve never heard of labna yogurt but now I want it all the time. Ok read on now for negativity. I was hoping for more out of this seemingly more local coffee shop located right next to a Starbucks. The service wasn’t great, they forgot to add soy milk in my tea and gave me a plastic cup after I requested a mug. Small things but not that hard peeps. I know it’s a coffee place but I was also disappointed with their tea selection of packets you can find at the grocery store. Yogurt. Just get the yogurt.

First just let me describe the scene when my husband and I walked into Sip. Customers were visibly upset and frustrated and the only barista was obviously overwhelmed. Come to find out their cook was not there yet and who I assume was the owner and another barista were in the back making the food. Meanwhile, the other barista was left up front to take everyone’s orders and make all of the drinks. I’m surprised that on a long weekend this place was understaffed. They have a prime location in downtown and should expect it to be busy. It is a shame to see a place with so much potential perform so poorly. We decided to place an order anyway and ordered two cappuccinos, a standard sandwich, and a sexy sandwich. The coffees and food were good. I’m not talking out of this world good, but definitely good. Despite the wait for both our coffee and food being incredibly long, I’m talking 45min long, we didn’t really get that upset because we had an idea of what we might be getting into, but I know not everyone is as easy going as we are. However, I really wish the barista up front had better customer service skills. It would have helped a lot of he smiled a bit, thanked customers for their order when they got it, and apologized to them for the wait. Who, I am guessing is the owner/manager did come out once the cook arrived and spoke to all of the customers and apologized. I would really like to give this place another chance but I might peek in the window to see how busy they are before I do.

Sip’s a hip, neat coffee hangout located in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Across the street from Starbucks, it claims to host more conscientious coffee connoisseurs. But I prefer not participating in discussions of the like… in my opinion, both corporate/chain cafés AND corner-start-up cafés can produce Cups of Joe equal and excellent in quality. Not too much to say — Sip’s simple, straightforward. Cool atmosphere. Very relaxed vibes. Super friendly staff. Regarding long-stay seating(i.e. for the proverbial student with laptop), Sip CAN fill up quickly and its WiFi turn shoddy… at least the always-dependable Starbucks is but a few steps away. Work is better accomplished there. At Sip, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the company of other like-minded coffee characters.

I came here for breakfast this morning with my family. Everybody liked their sandwiches, so it was a good breakfast all-in-all, but nothing too special. We had 2 Sexys, as well as a Standard and Italian. My mom and I both enjoyed our Sexys(generous portion of avocado, fried egg that was cooked very well, and a nice slice of bacon). The Standard was the same, just with added lettuce and tomato. Not sure if that’s worth an extra $ 1 though($ 6 compared to $ 7). My dad liked his Italian, which had a decent amount of meat, your standard mix that also included proscuitto. My sister also enjoyed her macchiato. The décor was nice and service was decent. Sandwiches were good and well toasted, with a good amount of fillings and not too much bread. But again, nothing that special and a bit pricey for breakfast! I would consider coming again if I’m in the area.
