This place is worthy of showing up on Diners, Drive — ins and Dives. The BBQ was amazing and servings were well worth the price. Unlike other BBQ places, this one served us well. The brisket was so most and juicy, the sausage could be the answer to world peace, and atmosphere is so cool, it’s hard to leave. It’s a tiny place and unless you are purposely looking for it, you’ll probably miss it but this hidden gem is worth the time to stop and get full. Great BBQ, hands Down. By the way, the kool-aid is stereo — typically sweet and you’ll want to take some to go, but beware of sugar-coma.

Good food but GREATFAMILYSERVICES. I came in and they treated me like family. Very friendly. Down to earth. Will be coming here again just for the food and friendly faces.

I’ve been eating BBQ from here almost all my life, and I’ve never been disappointed with the quality of food. My parents would pick up the family BBQ portions, brisket is solid, sausage never dry, and okay ribs. I finally went on my own to try out and got the catfish, with okra, and mac and cheese. It was decent but not worth the $ 11 and change i was charged for it. The reason for the 3 stars is that i found the guy who took my order was rather rude and seemed almost irritated that i came in. I may go back but there is better BBQ and fish around town.

Went here for lunch today and I was totally grossed out with the food. I ordered a 2 meat plate and received 2 orders of brisket fat! I wouldn’t even feed this crap to my dog! Totally disappointed.

So what if it’s a dive! The people here are genuinely kind and attentive. I ordered the catfish with greens and corn fritters. I washed it all down with sweet tea. My portion was hearty and flavorful. I went here for lunch and was so full that I skipped dinner. I found this place on Unilocal while visiting San Antonio and sad that I didn’t find it sooner because I’d be a regular customer. Parking is somewhat on a side street but I had no issues parking right in front. After reviewing the menu, they have a lot to offer and I recommend taking a friend so you can share. Currently they don’t offer any fish &BBQ combos but we’ll see. Cash and credit cards are accepted and tipping is appreciated. Mention them on Unilocal so that others may enjoy this hidden treasure.

A friend of mine brought me here for an owed lunch favor. I came back to pick up a dozen cornbread muffins to take home! The swamp water is just amazing. I will be coming back here every chance I get!

This is a cool little soul food restaurant with a lot of barbecued meats on the menu, but I wouldn’t call it a barbecue joint exactly. It’s really just a comfortable little place full of friendly people and fantastic food. I had the fried pork chop, which is every bit as good as other reviewers have described. I added some excellent green beans and fried corn nuggets, and then I topped it off with a big glass of red Kool-Aid. Heaven! Other members of my group had the brisket plate, brisket sandwich and meatloaf. Everyone was happy with what they had. I traded a little piece of pork for some of the brisket, and I thought it was very good. They seem to use lean brisket for the plate and fatty for the sandwich, but I’m sure you can order whichever you prefer. The employees of the Rib House are very friendly and happy to explain menu items. The menu is large and varied, so everyone will find something they like. And the place is crowded! Clearly a lot of people know a good thing when they see it. The office lunch crowd went looking for a new barbecue place, but we got so much more. And we’ll be back!

My favorite place for fried pork chops! Best in town, followed by homemade German Chocolate Cake! Yum yum! Five stars. And did I mention that the owners are so kind and caring. You taste the homemade love in each bite. Their sweet potato fries, mustard greens, black-eyed peas and corn fritters are among my favorite sides. And although they have good BBQ, I Love their fried catfish an d pork chops best of all.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays they serve pork-chops. These pork-chops were some of the best I’ve had at a restaurant; close to my Mom’s home-cooking. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere casual and comfortable. The sides are numerous and very flavorful.

Tried the three meat plate $ 10.80 including tax. Pork ribs were decent, beef rib was very very dry nearly burnt, didn’t eat them, brisket was ok but lacked a good smoky flavor everything was luke warm. BBQ sauce was bland I have had better from a store bought bottle. Mac-& cheese was a bit watery the fried okra was good. I would not recommend this joint for BBQ. The Sweet potato pie is pretty good.

When you’re reheating BBQ in the microwave it’s going to be a «no» no matter what.

I tried this place on a recommendation and it is a HOLE in the WALL! We drove past it and had to turn around and come back. It’s run by these guys who like to cook and eat. The fried pork chops are so tender! You get two of them. And you get TWO fried catfish. I told you these guys like to eat. I can’t eat that much. Especially in the middle of the day. I’ll go into a coma. Good food, I took leftovers home. You have to order the swamp water. It’s the sweet tea/lemonade in this gigantic cup.

Small«hole in the wall» place that serves up some decent pork ribs. The rib plate came with three ribs, and two sides. I chose the potato salad and fried okra. I came at around 2:30, kind of a weird after-lunch hour, so the ribs tasted like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp unattended for a while. They were fall-off-the-bone delicious anyway, smothered in a sweet-ish BBQ sauce. The potato salad tasted refreshingly home-made and the fried okra was hot off the frier. Rib House has a great menu with non-bbq items like cheesburgers, fish sandwich, and various enticing and unique deserts(7-up cake?). I opted out since I was in a rush, but I’ll be back to try the rest of the menu. The service isn’t great but that’s part of it’s «charm» if you will. As long as my food arrives in a timely tasty manor, I’m happy.

In the heart of the west side I came across this unassuming location of delicious home cooked items. They have specials on Tuesday and Thursday that are about $ 9 a plate and the serving size is generous. I got the fried chicken with scalloped potatoes and greens. The cornbread was really good and I’m typically not a fan of it. Includes a drink and they serve swamp water if you’re interested. Ice tea and lemonade? I was with a large work group and they served the 14 of us in a decent amount of time. The chicken was so good and seemed to be seasoned with lemon pepper. I hear the catfish is excellent as well. The owner also makes fresh pies/cakes and though I didn’t try any this time my co-worker said that she comes every year for one. Prices weren’t too bad either. All in all, a good experience and worth going back if I’m in the area again. The down side would be that it is a small location and as a large group we took up about half the restaurant.
