So, the last time I ever went to this location was about 3 years ago. I got down to order on the to-go side. I just wanted 2 picnic size fries and about 15 pieces of fried chicken… I didn’t care how much it would cost, but my kids and husband love fried chicken… I have ordered it like this before. So I put in my order and the young, attitude-stricken teen with a beer belly tells me without letting me finish«you can’t order it that way, just pick a meal.» I was totally taken aback, I didn’t say a word and just walked out. Later I called and complained to the shift manager/supervisor.

It’s often difficult to get random people to agree, let alone five coworkers on a business trip, so the Forming-Storming-Norming-Performing(Tuckerman’s Stages of Team Development) to decide on a lunch destination went a little something like this: Me: What’s around here? Almost simultaneously three coworkers pulled out their smartphones and began industriously searching for restaurants using various food apps,( Unilocal and Where) «Mexican, burgers, and BBQ — all within two miles.» Coworker Owens: «oh Bill Millers Bar-B-Q! You take a tray, pick some food, it’s good.» Coworker Luttrell: skeptical, «Then why does it only have two stars?(On Unilocal)?» Coworker Owens: «Bill Millers is like the McDonalds for BBQ in Texas?» We all came to an agreement and after a short trip through a bad neighborhood, we said a little ye-haw(hey, when in Texas…) and ordered. I ordered a #3 — 6.69 for one main meat(I opted for brisket) and three sides(coleslaw, fries, and green beans). The food didn’t look great, in fact very unaesthetically pleasing, so I didn’t have high hopes, but thankfully the food was much better than it looked. The brisket was somewhat tender and worked well with the BBQ sauce that’s added after the fact. Surprisingly, the coleslaw was vinegar based so it was slightly tangy and much lighter than the normal mayonnaise based slaw. Now I won’t be going out of my way to eat at a Bill Millers again, but for a quick lunch in a pinch it’ll do. —- I don’t normally review chains, however I felt it my duty to get the word out for those traveling with smartphones and using a Unilocal app …
