I was all prepared to give this place a 5 star review, after trying it Monday with a friend who recommended it. I ordered a large caramel macchiato. Excellent coffee. Great flavor & milk/espresso ratio. Staff was friendly. Today, I woke up and realized I’d forgotten to buy creamer at the grocery, and decided to go over there for coffee to go — because who can deal with the grocery store at 7 am on no caffiene? Hint: Not this girl. I ordered the same — a large caramel macchiato. This little dark haired girl at the counter was simultaneously snippy & patronizing, asking if I’d ever had a macchiato, because they only come in the tiny espresso cups, and they don’t make them any other way. I explained to her that I was there less than 48 hours ago, and got what I asked for. No questions asked, except what flavor I wanted in my macchiato. I said large. The lady gave me a large. She(today’s counter girl) proceeded to tell me they could make me a latte, because it was the same thing, only bigger. AHEM. Excuse me? No. No, it is not. In simple terms, a macchiato has more espresso than milk, and a latte is the opposite. Why quibble over the same ingredients, you ask? Because 7 am is probably not the best time to incorrectly«educate» a customer who has not yet had any caffiene. And I needed more caffiene than diary. And yes, I know what a freaking macchiato is. I closed my bloodshot eyes and counted in my head while asking Jesus to stay my hand from reaching over the counter… Jesus came to my rescue, in the form of a young man who stepped up and asked what he could help with, and took over the order. I got my coffee. The coffee is great. Cute environment. But these folks need to educate their non-serious-coffee-drinking staff not only on coffee beverages, but on how to tread lightly with serious-coffee-drinking, currently caffiene-less customers.

Great java, friendly faces and fine set up. I went to this place twice. The coffee was great and made with love. The setting is a pleasant coffee shop feel and they serve burritos that is a mega plus. There’s also a self serve water place that is excellent and you can bring your notebook and get a litlte work done while sitting on their couch or at a table.

TIP: check in on Unilocal for 10% off order RECOMMEND: 1) French press: The coffee shop lives up to its name with this absolutely perfect Frenchpress. There are subtle hints of nutty flavor that are strangely comforting. I’ve recommended it to a few friends who have all loved it! 2) Dirty chai latte: The«dirty» chai latte gets its name from a shot of espresso added on top, which gives a great early morning boost. I love this drink because it’s so strong and bold, but if you prefer your lattes on the sweeter side this may not be your drink. Small but cute little place downtown that consistently serves solid coffee. The menu isn’t extensive, but they do well with whatever they offer. There are also various«off menu» items including three different types of chai lattes, London fog(earl grey with steamed milk), hot chocolate, raspberry pecan tea latte and spiced apple cider. Food items, which I haven’t tried yet, include quiches, croissants, and few other typical baked goods, nothing that seems like a must-try item. Free wifi with great connection, plenty of outlets on the the walls, and parking available on the street. I would love to come back and try the London fog next time because I will consume anything that has an ounce of earl grey in it, and also it apparently tastes like blueberries!

One of my favorite local coffee shops! They always have smiling faces serving you at the counter. The dirty chai latte is my go-to. A great calm and peaceful atmosphere for studying, reading, or coffee dates.

Quaint little coffee shop right next to San Pedro Springs Park. I visited this morning for an early breakfast. They only have street parking, but I was able to find parking easily at 8am. I ordered chamomile tea and was pleasantly surprised that they use loose leaf versus bagged tea. Very nice! I also tried the breakfast tacos. The potato and egg was basic, but the green salsa had great flavor. The service was quick and efficient. The coffee shop is small but has a nice outdoor patio. I imagine this would be a good place to study or catch up with friends over coffee. I’ll definitely be back to try their coffee! I totally forgot to check in on Unilocal,so I’m looking forward to getting my 10% off next time :).

The barista is such a sweetheart! And the vibes are perfect for some studying. I had the Mocha chai latte and I can’t stress enough, how delicious it was. Next time, I’m definitely going to try their pastries.

Final Rating: 4⁄5 As I said in my previous review, I really wanted to come back and try one of their coffee lattes to give this place a proper review. I don’t believe in giving bad reviews just because I had one item off the menu I didn’t like! I bumped my previous 3.5 to 4 stars just because the place is so darn cute and also because they do make a strong latte. CARAMELLATTE: Creamy and strong — a great option for those of you who like a latte that is a little less milkier and stronger than some of the lattes I’ve had at other coffeeshops around SA. Unfortunately I couldn’t taste much of the caramel I asked for and since I like my lattes on the sweeter side, I don’t think I’ll be ordering this again. PARKING: Street parking to the side of the coffeeshop. There’s two parking spots behind the shop. PROS: The owner left me a very nice response to my review suggesting some other tea options that I might like — like the Earl Grey which is one of my favorite teas. TIP: Check into Unilocal and get 10% off! Cute place and I will return to try their teas — I want to try their chai tea next time!

Artisan coffee in a cozy little shop. The interior itself is small but they’ve managed to make the most of their space. Had an almond milk latte, and enjoyed it by a table near the window. Cute little succulent plants on the window sills. The area itself it adorable, I love the colonial house across the street. Although this shop is small they have plenty of outdoor seating in the shade with a beautiful preserved tree. Staff is personable, coffee menu is simple and will get you buzzing with energy! Had an almond Milk latte. Regret not trying their in house made vanilla. Oh well – next time! Little secret they told me affagoto are coming soon! They are partnering up with some local ice cream shop(sorry forgot name) to get affagoto’s on the menu. Nothing better then beating the heat with espresso over vanilla ice cream.

Probably my favorite local coffee spot so far in SA. It’s in a cozy former home and has indoor and patio seating. The coffee is great, and it does get a lil crowded during the lunch hour, but in the early morning/chill afternoon hours, this spot is wonderful.

Since my first fav coffee place was closed this week I decided to try another new joint. And I think this might be my new fav. Or my 2nd but equal fav. 1. The coffee is excellent 2. Breakfast tacos and fantastic, hot salsa 3. Great, fast WiFi 4. Seating a plenty and comfy and there were outlets — I forgot to plug in my computer that night and I always worry about outlets in new places. Not in a weird, nightmarish way but in a cool, nonchalant«where are the plugs and am I going to have to ask someone to plug in my cord under their legs? kinda way». 5. Outdoor seating — it’s quiet and peaceful and lovely 6. The music was great and the baristas were super friendly 7. It’s bright and airy. It feels like sunshine in there. 8. Parking was easy 9. Lots of seating options — chair and table, comfy armchairs, bar stools and high tops… I love me some options. 10. Just keep going back to #2. Eggs and potatos… so easy but so delish. Such a great place.

I was trying to find every excuse to give this place five stars, but I couldn’t. I am almost reaching for four. I wanted to like it more than I actually liked it. The baristas were not especially warm or welcoming. The pastries were okay. They were from local bakeries, which I like, but they weren’t the best pastries I have ever had. The breakfast tacos were pretty good. The cappuccino was good, but nothing to write home about. The décor is what I very much enjoyed, it was absolutely adorable! I probably will not come back but do encourage you to give it a try. When I read the reviews I was under the impression that they offered many breakfast items, but I was sadly disappointed. By the time I left, I was still hungry, so don’t go with the expectation of enjoying a full meal.

Great spot to sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee! The last time I came here I enjoyed their ginger tea and it was so delicious! Press coffee is a great location to bring friends or even to bring a large group, the people are always so sweet and they’ve got a great selection of pastries.

I just saw this shop as we randomly drove past and thought to myself–«Self– you NEED coffee.» Didn’t even know it until I saw Press’s sign. More importantly, though, I thought«About time!» Located conveniently across San Pedro from SAC, Press has been around about a year and I was slightly mad at myself for not having ventured there yet. I told the lovely lady who I ordered my mocha chai latte from how much I wished they had been there when I was in school there.(Lucky SAC students!) A coffee shop other than a major chain that actually sells great coffee located close to my home and doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for it? Count me in. My drink was perfect– just the right level of chai without overwhelming you. I decided after I tasted it that I could drink it every day. That’s saying something as I am hard to please with coffee. I am a huge fan of French press coffee and Press serves some of the tastiest. I say this because yesterday I did a chain coffee run and the coffee was more like a flavor– not real coffee, but the flavor of coffee. Press has a good selection of drinks but not a huge menu. Next time I have some work to catch up on I will either sit under the trees in the lovely outdoor seating or, if the weather isn’t right, cuddle in to the the very comfy looking couches or chairs in the cozy shop. I will definitely grab a pastry next visit as they look mighty tasty. My husband says he is making a breakfast taco run there asap. Try it out, SA– Support Local Business!

Finally got a chance to visit Press Coffee. I had time today after visiting SAMA. Had actually forgotten where it was located but drive past it and decided to turn around. It’s an unobtrusive, square building and if there weren’t «coffee» signs showing, you can easily miss it. Upon entering I was surprised how much seating they were able to fit in. Hard chairs at tables, leather chairs next to small end tables, and stools at counters. .. You have numerous choices. It is simply decorated with plants and some wall decorations. All the windows give it a bright, uplifting atmosphere. A good choice of upbeat music accompanied my visit. The menu is not as large as some other coffee places, but if my cappuccino is any indicator as to how they make their other drink items, then one should be happy with whatever they order. The cappuccino was full flavored and smooth. It had a creamy texture in my mouth that went down happily. The Sweet Potato Muffin that I ordered was fantastic! The person at the counter said it would have more of a pumpkiny taste, but that was just fine with me. The muffin did have more of a pumpkin flavor, but was not overwhelming. It can be very easy to go heavy handed with that flavor. It had a moistness that made it a joy to eat even if it didn’t have a topping, which by the way was crunchy and not overly sweet. Heck, the topping actually stuck to the muffin top when I tore pieces off. How cool is that?! Now we’re talkin’ good times! I can definitely count myself a fan of Press Coffee and will be returning.

This place is 4.5 stars trending towards 5 stars, so we are rounding up. Another good coffee option in SATX’s growing gourmet coffee scene. Press is great, really. Nice environment, good coffee pulled by well-trained baristas, even passable breakfast tacos in the morning. I am going to be working relatively nearby soon, so I am quite certain I’ll be spending too much money here in the near future. Great outdoor seating it looks like too, so enjoy those Fall, Winter, and Spring days outside under the Live Oak tree.

I enjoy the ambience of the establishment, it’s small and quaint. Seems like an ideal place to study since its relatively quiet. I ordered the dark roast French press coffee. Very bold taste, packs a punch just how I like it.

I really dig the houses-turned-into-businesses thing in the SAC/UIW/Trinity area, and this spot is no exception. Nicely styled but unpretentious, both in service and product, Press is a cozy coffee shop perfect for the grab-and-go(complete with reserved curbside parking!) or lingering with friends or a textbook. It’s a relatively small spot, and seating is somewhat limited, but I really enjoyed interacting with the staff and found my coffee to be absolutely on point. Unclear where they source their beans, or whether they carry and food/pastries(didn’t see anything around lunchtime), but the atmosphere and location are both pluses.

A place where you can get some work done or catch up with a friend. Since it’s located in an old house and the baristas are very friendly, Press Coffee is a welcoming coffee shop and a nice alternative to Starbucks. The menu is fairly simple. I ordered the latte which was rich and creamy. They have a variety of pastries and even breakfast tacos. I would come here more often if it wasn’t located so far.

I am a shameless consumer of locally sourced treats and hipster culture. I treat myself to an iced Almond Latte and a Triple Berry Muffin at Press at like 10:45 on a Tuesday nearly every week. I love the tiny sign that tells you where the milk comes from, the breakfast tacos that I’m usually not up early enough for and the fact that the tablet keeps digital track of your loyalty card if you swipe something. Sometimes I go Full Beyoncé treatment and leave early for work so I can sit in a comfy chair with some french press and a warm breakfast item.

More often than not patrons are forgoing the experience a franchise gives them, in place of a more intimate and personal one. The expectation that a business is creating something exclusively for you is in demand and in vogue at the moment. Businesses, like the Press Coffee are filling that expectation with great coffee in an unassuming atmosphere. Press Coffee is located within walking or biking distance from San Antonio College. The space itself is really small; a one time substation now converted into a business. The interior is sleek and contemporary, while maintaining an experience like you are walking into someone’s home. There are but a few tables mostly inhabited by college students who are studying, or WiFi worshippers with laptops/tablets/or other smart devices. The fragrance of coffee seems to permeate throughout the room as you enter. Machines and baristas, the actual owners, work together to get beverages out to customers. Above the counter there is a menu with simple offerings. They make freshly brewed espressos, cappuccinos, lattes and what appears to be their signature beverage: French pressed coffee. In addition they have a small selection of pastries to accompany your drinks. You can also order items to go, as well. I settled on their pressed coffee, placed my order then made my way to their outdoor patio. No sooner was my order placed that a piping hot French press was placed at the table I was seated at. The presentation was quite exquisite with ceramic mugs and matching petite spoons. You have the option of ordering a half or full press filled. In my opinion it is more cost efficient to have a full pot made for you, as it is a better deal and you can share it with company. I might add that the coffee was absolutely perfect. It was rich in flavor and above all remained warm, despite the cooler temperatures outside. The coffee was great and the space is unassuming. I have been to some spots in the city where there are unwritten rules or a coffee etiquette that one must adhere to. But here you can use sugar, creamer or milk and you won’t be frowned upon. While the service was good and the owners work diligently to put out you order, this is where I must interject: Whenever I go to any spot, primarily one that offers coffee I like to get a sense of the place. For me the feel of a place is as important as the food, drink or whatever is being served. At that capacity a vibe is created by the patrons that frequent there, but ultimately it is the owner that sets the tone. In my opinion I would’ve liked to have seen the owner add his own personal touch. For example when the coffee was brought to the table a simple nicety such as, «How’s it going» or «This is cool weather we are having» at least for me, goes a long way. It is a nod or an acknowledgement that we are there. And most certainly separates the experience one receives at a big franchise versus a small local business. Still the Press Coffee offers excellent coffee, in a charming atmosphere at an affordable price. Whether you come here to study, meet a friend for conversation or are on the go check this place out. Every time their machines go «whoosh» a barista earns their wings somewhere.
