I ordered spaghetti and meatballs, stuffed mushrooms, and a slice of pizza online, to be delivered to my apartment. Somehow, everything was swimming in pools of oil. The meatballs were terrible, very cheap hamburger and full of large chunks of gristle. I ate one bite and gave the rest to my dogs, this is not that big of deal for me as I tend to be picky about the kind of meats i’ll eat. The spaghetti, while good, had tons of oil everywhere. It was almost inedible and made me feel pretty nauseous afterwards. It came with a side salad; the lettuce was wilted and brown, the tomato was white and soggy, and there was an abundance of olives despite me requesting they leave them off. The spaghetti also came with a roll, which was great, despite also sitting in a pool of oil. I didn’t even try the mushrooms, they was a lot of oil and the garlic was too overpowering for my taste. The slice of pizza was okay, it was cold by the time I got it and pretty soggy. I ordered and paid for 3 extra toppings, for which none were included. Delivery guy was also pretty grumpy. Overall, I think the food could be improved tremendously by small tweaks(less oil, less garlic, higher quality meat, etc.), however and unfortunately, I don’t think i’ll be trying Poppy’s again.

I really love the pizza at this joint. I got a large pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom. I ate on it for 2 or 3 meals. I will be back when I come to SAT. The older lady was really nice, and not fake nice to get your business. She was really genuine. This pizza is best I’ve had.

After a long day of shopping and ripping/running around, I became faint and overly hungry. Confused on what to eat, I ended up finally deciding on pizza, but from where? My mind was flooded with pizza choices. Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Dominos, etc. Let’s try something different, I thought! I mean, sure why not different is always good. I located this Poppy’s Pizza in my google search. I called, someone who didn’t state their name answered, «Poppy’s Pizza». «Hi, I want to place and order for delivery.» I said. «Well, let’s start with a name.» This older male stated, around 60, y/o(well he sounded like an older gentleman, just wanted to paint the picture) I stated my name and address. «What do you want to order?» He asked. «Very veggie pizza(no artichokes), stuffed mushrooms, Coke and a piece of cheese cake, also I want a side of buffalo sauce.»(I knew good and well I wasn’t going to eat it all, but it sounded so good) The male repeated my order back, stated cash or charge?(cash I stated) he said ok and hung up. After 30 mins, I thought ok. He didn’t even tell me how long it would be or anything. Total of 48 mins passed and I called back, inquiring about the pizza. «They should be on the way, they must be stuck in traffic.» The gentleman said. 10 mins later, there was a knock on the door. Excited about my order. Handing her $ 40 I asked, «Do you have change?» «No», she said.(What place do you know where the delivery person doesn’t have change? Really, not even $ 20 in change?) Lucky I had change, but not enough. With the delivery fee of $ 2.00plus change, she left with $ 3.00 more, due to not having change. Excited, I open the box, I saw my pizza, but it had artichokes.(which I didn’t want). Mushrooms look like it was swimming in an oil bath and a large piece of cheesecake. I took a bite of the pizza, it was warm… Not to my liking. I took three bites of the mushrooms and felt like I could fight off vampires for a lifetime. Those mushrooms were so greasy it was leaking thru the styrofoam container. You may think that this a straight negative review, but the cheesecake was a slice of pure heaven. It was so light an airy, very Devine. Other than that, I’ll only visit for the piece of light, airy, cheesecake. REVIEW of REVIEW: Only coming for cheesecake.

Not a bad option for delivery. Food came quick and was hot. Pizza had good flavor and plenty of cheese. Crust was made well and wasn’t overcooked. Two items of note: First, we ordered half sausage and the whole pie came with sausage. Not a huge deal. The second item was that the sausage from the photos was crumbles and what we got were slices. It’s just a preference thing, buy I don’t love the slices. I’ll be ordering from them again.

Went here with a group after a HH nearby and had some good food. The place is small and unassuming but the food was fresh and homemade. We asked the owner/cashier the difference between a calzone and Stromboli and he was very helpful. The side salad that comes with your food is an entire plate of salad and the portions are huge and filling. The price is cheap so you’re tempted to order one of everything but be prepared to take lots of food home with you! I want to go back and try their desserts and pizza! If I lived in the area I could defintely see this place being a weekly jaunt for me.

This is me and my daughters favorite place to have pizza. The chicken wings and sweet potato fries are really delicious! Their medium pizza is the size of a large at all other pizza places. Big portions and my favorite part is that they just slice the peppercorns so you get the seeds which spices it up a bit.

My wife and I visited this place for the first time. We used Unilocal to find it. We got the mozzarella triangles which were a solid ten with the hot melted mozzarella and the marinara sauce to dip in, our pizza was the supreme 20″ which was AMAZING from ground up(the dough was crispy but soft at the same time, the sauce was Fantastic, the cheese was good, the meat and peppers were fresh and cooked.) We finished our course up with there signature cheese cake which was to die for! This place is a Must Go!!! The environment, the service, the prices were all great!!!

Pretty bland food. I ordered a calzone with pepperoni and sausage, cheesesticks, and a Philly cheese steak. All of which were underwhelming. We didn’t finish any of these items due to their lack of flavor and high calorie content. Didn’t feel it was worth it to finish.

The two stars is for the owners mom. She was the nicest woman. As far as the pizza, it was at best line Digorno frozen pizza. We went in for lunch and found out there was a buffet. Not Like a normal buffet. You order what you want and they put out a few pieces of that kind. The pizza is NOT good. The salad was not fresh and the noodles were hard. Asked if they could make a thinner crust, maybe just a little crispier. Owner says they could they would have to make a whole pie. and!?! Make it! He made a face so I politely declined. As we were leaving he could tell we barely touched our food and said if we ever come back we should try there dessert because that was their best. Probably never going back. Just not a great place.

Was in a local hotel staying for business a few nights ago and was in the mood for Pasta and opted for delivery. I ordered the whole wheat pasta with meat sauce and meatballs, with a side of pizza rolls. The portions are very generous, the meat sauce was really hearty, rich and delicious. I was glad they offered whole wheat pasta, as not many restaurants do. The pizza rolls were very large, soft and tasty. The lady who took my order was very kind and efficient over the phone. Delivery was quick and food arrived fresh and hot. Would definitely order again from this restaurant!

Agree with a couple others, the fox news on the tv is a bit strange. There should be a separation of politics and pizza ha ha. Aside from all that the pizza is the real star here, huge with a nice crust and generous toppings. The sauce is ok, nothing spectacular but not terrible. All in all, pretty good za. The salad and wings we had were not really memorable and probably will not be purchased again. The fries we also got were pretty good, nice and crispy but not overly fried. Will definitely be coming back, possibly to get it to go albeit

Amazing. *delivery experience* From chicken wings to calzones and stuffed mushroom to pizza, Poppy’s delivers well prepared cuisine with high quality ingredients to your door. This is not you college pizza night in. This is big time player pizza evening on the Homefront. I regularly order from Poppy’s and have always had wonderful experiences. The wait time is longer than the quick turn around artists; plan accordingly. This is worth the wait. :45min to an hour in general. I most recently had this amazing ricotta and spinach pizza. Delectable. I’m writing this review the night after eating Poppy’s and I’m feeling compelled to order Poppy’s again. Order Poppy’s for a treat yourself kinda night. It’ll make you want to treat yourself more often.

Ordered the half and half pizza with pepperoni on one side and cheese on the other. The pepperoni side was about 75% of the pizza and the cheese was the other smaller part. My friend and I were splitting it, she got the cheese and I got the pep, and it was fine because she’s a nice human being but when we order half and half, we expect just that. With that being said, the pizza was pretty good. Nothing special but for the price it wasn’t too bad. The tiramisu was also pretty tasty. I ordered pick up so I’m not sure about the in restaurant service but the pizza was ready when they said it was going to be. There are better pizza places in the SA area but this wasn’t the worst.

This review is for the lunch buffet. When we came in the buffet was empty and it remained that way most of the time we were there. We ordered a pizza that came out to the buffet, and everyone else gets to take from it too. It’s a little weird. No other pizzas came out after we ordered, it seems like they only bring pizzas that you order, and anyone can take from them, so really the buffet is sharing your pizza with other people. The pizza was very good New York style pizza, which is hard to find in San Antonio. It was somewhat undercooked, but overall I wasn’t displeased with it. I guess I would come back and just get a pizza to go. The place is run by two very nice older people who seem like they are just a little overwhelmed. The service is very slow, but if you have he patience, the pizza is good.

Don’t bother. For some time now I’ve been on a mission to find anything better than trilogy pizza. So far, no success. This place in particular I want to warn people about. It’s basically overpriced carnival pizza. I had never heard of it except for the groupon. My advice: skip this place entirely. That is, unless you want to feel like you’re in a gas station and really enjoy eating off of paper plates. The pizza is not cheap and not quick. There was barely any sauce but plenty of grease. I used a napkin to soak some up. There weren’t forks provided and I didn’t even get one until I asked the second time at the counter. At the end of the meal I debated taking any of it home at all. How rude would that have been?! Plus, I had to try it cold and leftover ’cause… Ya know… Cold and leftover pizza. So I took it home. Turns out it was still greasy the next day. So greasy in fact that the box itself had been soaked through. Maybe extra grease is part of their secret flavor? I felt like I needed a shower after eating it.

Came here again and the pizza is one of the best I’ve ever had! I love the sauce and it’s not a thick pizza which I love that. The wings are the best I’ve ever had! In fact a lot of people think so as well. The family Patty and Hal are so friendly and a joy to be around. They ate always welcoming. They have all different kinds of Italian food as well. Oh and the New York cheesecake that Patty makes every day, is the best I’ve ever had!

First and foremost, the old man and his son(maybe — not sure) were very kind and helpful. Thank you for that. However, there are a few things I think Poppy’s needs to improve if they’re going to make a real run at success. First, when we(2 people) ordered the house salad, the waitress did not bring any plates and only 1 fork. Second, ensure everything is stocked up so customers do not have to bother staff for such items as straws. Lastly, while I thought the taste of the ingredients on the pizza were fine, the bottom center was far too soggy. I’m not a pizza maker so I’m not sure exactly how to fix this problem — maybe a hotter over or maybe the ingredients were frozen when put on the pizza and thawed. I don’t know. Anyway, not a terrible experience at Poppy’s but not a perfect trip either.
