Came from out of state for vacation and our daughter wanted pasta. It was just a quick drive from our hotel. We went on a Friday night around 5:45 and got seated quickly. The salad dressing is amazing, the butter and bread were also great. My daughter ordered the shrimp Alfredo and I got the spaghetti with meat sauce. The Alfredo looked amazing even though I did not try it. My spaghetti was very good. The staff was very friendly although our waiter could have paid more attention to our drinks but they were getting busy. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and wish we lived closer.

Honestly, I’m fairly sure most of the people I’ve met like this restaurant simply because they’ve been going to Milanos for years. The food consists mainly of 1970s style«Italian» fare and it’s very unlikely to see anyone under 40 dining there. Slow service and mushy food are pretty common, and dishes, at least what I’ve ordered, often arrive different from how they were described on the menu. I think the restaurant is trying to cut costs(no fresh basil, etc.), but when I go to a restaurant where salads cost more than $ 10, I expect to receive all of the ingredients in my dish.

Honestly, so amazing! I had the calamari and pesto& basil pizza. It was great. Our waitress was very polite and attentive. The restaurant is very nice and classy. Had a good time.

Went for lunch today with a group. Yes they were busy and yes we were with a group BUT they took forever to bring our food. We were there an hour and 15 minutes before our entrees made an appearance. By that time, we had to leave to get to a volunteer responsibility. My husband went to the waiter and very nicely asked if we could get to-go containers for our food, which we could see on the trays. They promptly let him pay and he added a 20% tip thinking that would help hurry things. Wrong! They took his plate and gave it to someone else. Eventually took my plate to the kitchen and 10 minutes later(by now all our friends are happily enjoying their meals) they finally come back out with two to/go containers and off we run. We later find out they gave him the wrong sauce on his spaghetti. 10 minute wait to scoop into containers and the wrong sauce after a 75 minute initial wait? Not worthy of a 20% tip. Just now warming up our lunch and don’t plan to return. If they’d just handed us the containers!!!

Amazing! Definitely coming back even if I live 30 minutes away, completely worth the drive! We weren’t even that hungry, and it left us in food coma best meal of 2015⁄2016 The Italian cake or chocolate cake can’t go wrong and reasonable prices

My mom comes here all the time, so when I’m in San Antonio, we come here. I really enjoyed the grilled salmon and angel hair pasta with butter garlic sauce. I would order this again! My husband also really liked his tilapia. Nice crust because of the way they pan fry it. The prices can be a bit steep but the lunch specials are a good deal. $ 12 for my grilled salmon and $ 10 for tilapia. This place also has a lot of private parties and takes reservations, so if you need that, it’s good. Ask for the waiter, Eddie. He’s super nice and attentive.

Just came here for a work event. Food was decent but service was awful! Never got my drink, no refills in the water, 2 of the people in the party wait an additional 20 mins for there food and server had a bad attitude. Overpriced and awful service. Wouldn’t come back.

I came with three other people who were all fond of Milano’s. One got an appetizer of calamari and all of us tasted and enjoyed it. The three others ordered and loved their Shrimp Milano. Maybe I should have tried it! Instead, I ordered Chicken Gorgonzola and had difficulty detecting any Gorgonzola on the chicken. That’s too bad… it was a pleasant, attractive restaurant and the service was prompt. I enjoyed my two glasses of house merlot!

My brother and I had lunch here: a bottle of red wine, escargo appetizer, snapper and a steak. All was good and my sirloin was rare, just as I ordered. The waitress was beautiful and very pleasant, but not very knowledgeable. The bill was $ 91.98 which we thought was high for good, but not excellent meals.

Drove by this place for years, always thinking it looked interesting, we need to give it a shot! But our standard favorite which is right next to it always prevailed, but we gave this quick two shots in a week and were quite happy with the experience. Pretty nice ambiance and quick and friendly service on both trips. Servers were decent but not fantastic or anything, but that was made up by the well prepped food during happy hour and tasty dishes off the dinner menu. The mussels in lemon sauce were perfectly cooked though there were too many broken shells in the mix which was irritating, shrimp were perfectly cooked with a dredging of breadcrumbs which were provided a nice crunchy foil to the tender shrimp inside, mixed seafood pasta boasted perfectly al dente pasta tossed in just the right amount of sauce to coat each tendril of the linguini, but not leave a liquid mess behind! A capellini dish was again executed perfectly with a lemon butter sauce balancing off the earth mushrooms leading to fairly good eats. Desserts are well crafted, but a trifle too sweet in my opinion, but thats a whiffling matter. Definitely worth a shot.

From the wine, to the chicken Parmesan, to the jack and coke, to the wait staff. Everything was to the«T» I prefer this over shitty Olive Garden any day!

Raining cats and dogs. I was escorting two elderly women. Called Milano’s and asked if I pulled up to the awning(because it was raining) could someone come out and help my guests? The Manager laughed in my face and said we don’t provide this service! The salad was so skimpy it was a field of nothing. Also, tell me why we had to ask for water refills? And, when the young man came to the table and filled one water glass, why didn’t he think to check the other glasses instead of walking away? Poor training; no class. Adrien Frank

This is the second time I eat @ this restaurant but had never written a review until today. Today we ordered some take-out for 3 persons. The hostess was very nice and always smiled and kept asking if we needed anything else. The food items were excellent, fresh and tasty. However, when the server brought out the bags with the food items, he just plopped the bags on the counter where we were sitting, and turned around & walked away without even a «thank you». I thought that was rude on his part because I had already paid and left him a tip for just taking the order. I will return because the food is very good but I will steer away from that server, the name Hector was on the receipt.

My wife and I had our reception dinner in the private rental room and was fully taken care of by the staff. We didn’t need to ask for anything as the restaurant took care of it all. They were friendly and attentive. Food was very tasty and they were really fast in getting it out to everyone and at the same time. We had a lot of kids there and the staff never acted annoyed or upset. That in itself was a relief. The room was given to us the night prior to allow for decorating which again, huge relief. The whole thing went off without a hitch and will absolutely recommend them to any and all needing a private room for a party.

While here on business we were looking for something other than Mexican food. We found this gem of a place! The food and service was great. The atmosphere was relaxing and didn’t feel like we were in a fast food Italian restaurant. Even the music was enjoyable.

The friendly waitstaff promptly assisted my every need. They brought out two freshly baked piping hot rolls and always made sure my glass was full. I ordered the mussels in white wine and the shrimp milano in garlic butter. Both were very delicious and you could tell the chef used fresh ingredients. The quiet atmosphere is very soothing and I would be back in a heartbeat.

This is our favorite Italian Restaurant in all of San Antonio. We tried this place on a Groupon 2 years ago and we never go anywhere else since. It’s quiet and the food quality is consistent. The service has always been fantastic.

Beautiful ambience and quick service. Great food. The appetizers are superb. We didn’t like the chocolate cake much but pasta was just too good. Little pricey but you get your money’s worth.

Restaurant was very nice and so was the wait staff. The food was good but was charged for everything a la carte. I thought their spaghetti tasted canned and the chocolate cake from a box. That part off the meal was disappointing. Not sure if I’ll go back anytime soon.

There is nothing we would change. Our experience was as close to perfect as a restaurant can get. Elegant but casual atmosphere. The courses came out with impeccable timing. The Itialian dressing on the salad was delicious. The shrimp Milano was the best I have ever had. It was much better than Paesanos or Pompei who have a similar dish. The pasta was good as well. The service — excellent! It has been a while since we have been so satisfied by service and food combined. Only one concern– the restaurant was basically empty, not good. Hopefully others will read this review and try this place, you wont be sorry.

I would give 0 stars if that were an option. We arrived at 7:05pm to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were seated, asked if we would like the wine list, when we said no thank you, he promptly left our table without asking if we would like anything else to drink or providing us with a menu. We enjoyed visiting while I tried catching the eye of any waiter, even raised my hand a few times to the bartender and another two waiters passing by, no one was at all concerned about our table(which was sitting practically in the middle of the restaurant). We had no idea who our waiter was so we could ask for service. By 7:45 the same man that seated us finally returned(Aha! He must also be our waiter!). He again asked if we wanted the wine list, when we said no thank you, he once again immediately walked away, he didn’t wait to ask if we would like anything else(tea, a soft drink?), again he left no menu, no bread with the yummy garlic butter, no specials were described, he just walked off. There were only 4 tables occupied in the entire place and several waiters, so this wasn’t a case of being busy. We then watched our waiter joyfully deliver a bill to the couple next to us, and check on the other couple that was finishing their meal, while he still refused to glance our way. We finally just got up and left. I was more apt to complain, my husband didn’t want our special evening ruined by me getting upset, he thought it best for us to just leave. On our way out, no one came to intersect us in the lobby or ask why we were leaving. I have been eating at Milano’s since it opened over 20 years ago, along with my entire family, dear friends that eat there often gave us this night as a gift to celebrate our very special wedding anniversary. I will never return. I opened a Unilocal account only to post this review, as the staff doesn’t seem particularly concerned with service. I called the following day at 11:00am to speak to a manager and receiving only«The manager isn’t in, you’ll have to call back.» No offer to take a message or ask how I could be helped. It was our anniversary, we picked a «special place» to celebrate, we were in a great mood, this experience slightly dampened the celebration as we now found ourselves driving around trying to find another place to eat. My profile picture is us, on the very night of our anniversary, eating at Longhorn Steakhouse. Certainly not at all what we were looking for as far as dining quality or ambiance, but at least our waiter was fabulous, attentive and genuinely polite. And he didn’t have any problem offering us a tea or soda when we said no thank you to the wine list.

Popped in today for a quick lunch. Chicken Picatta was great as always! The lunch menu is priced very well. My only complaint is that my glass if Chardonnay was not properly chilled, but I didn’t ask them to correct the error or I’m sure they would have. Service was fantastic, but they also weren’t very busy on account of the weather. I’ll definitely be back for lunch soon. Now back to work…

This is an excellent choice! I would go out of my way, adjust plans, or invent a special occasion to go to a restaurant and get service this good. The food fit the price range and was very good, the table and serviceware were a notch above, and the service itself was out of the park. I am not a five star customer, I make crumbs, I sop gravy with bread, I tend to empty my water glass while the server is refilling my tea, and vice versa. My server here made all of that and more possible, allowable, ok, and well supported by his service. Servers here make me feel good about eating here.
