Overpriced for the level of quality that the food was served at. I will not be re-dining there Calamari was rubbery. Ravioli was way over cooked, and served on bed of meat sauce that was not proportionate to the number of ravioli on the plate. Overall, I would rate the service a 3 out of 5 and the food a 2 out of 5.

You don’t ever want to eat at Naple’sor Franco in Alon Shopping Center on NW Military. They took a reservation for 57 for a Sunday brunch my sister and brother planned for our Mother’s 80th birthday. Orders were taken at 12:30 pm and the head table was not served first and the last table served was at 2:20 pm. The apparently ran out of salmon and served my guests LOX! Can you imagine. My contact Donny had the nerve to tell me the following Monday that they knewwhen they took the reservation their kitchen was not big enough and they would be able to handle this amount of people. they never would admit to the LOX. To say the least me or any of my guests will ever eat here again and I used to frequent it a lot. Their resolve was to take $ 5 off each plate. In addition they charged for 62 people when there was 57 present, two of which had to leave before they were ever served. plus they broke a plate over one of our guest back. Please do not visit this place. You won’t know what you will get to eat!

The pizza here is incredible — we almost always get the Naples Special(meatballs, bacon, pepperoni, sausage, peppers, jalapenos, olives, mushrooms) It is chock full of good stuff with a nice thin crust. We usually get it to go, but sometimes when we are feeling extra indulgent, we eat there and have beers or wine. It’s true, the service isn’t always en pointe and can be a little juvenile at times, but it’s a pizza place! With *excellent* pizza.

We stopped by for dinner before theater at the Vex across the street. So, note that Naples(and Francos) are at NW Military and Wurzbach Pkwy, and NOT at Huebner. The dining is upscale as are the prices, but the food was excellent. I had a greek pizza, called a white pizza(i.e. no red sauce), which had feta cheese and several veggies; I opted out of the olives, since I don’t like olives. My wife had whole wheat chicken pasta. Both dishes were very tasty, and we had enough to take home for a second meal for each of us. As for the ambiance, the place was pretty sparsely attended by patrons, but it was Thursday at 6pm. They do have an upscale dining room right next door, along with a bar and stage. John at the bar told us that they are adding music on Fridays and Saturdays, but right now they have a sole acoustic on Wednesdays. All in all we were both happy with our food, taste and quantity and we would go back there.

The set-up in this place is really cool and it has a lot of potential for larger scale events such as concerts or corporate outings. I’m not exactly sure how this place is going to stay in business. We went during peak lunch hours, only to find that we were the only people there. The food was very bland and just didnt have very much flavor.

We have been here about 3 times and I have to say their Pizza is great, but the service is very slow. Also, we wanted to try other things on the menu and it was a big mistake. My fiancé had the Lasagna that he sent back because it was ice cold. I had the fettuccine Alfredo, which had no flavor. When eating here stick to the pizza and don’t expect much service.

The bean soup is really good, nice and rustic! The pappardelle sauce needs a little work it’s a bit bitter, should probably remove the seeds from the tomatoes and stop using canned… Overall not too bad, will certainly come again.

Two favorite things on the menu the chef salad and the pizza.

We found ourselves at Franco’s after walking out of a restaurant with terribly slow service. For a few minutes, we worried we’d run into the same situation, but I made eye contact with a man in a suit who rushed over and got our drink order. When the waiter arrived, he apologized profusely for the wait, explained that it was very busy, and assured us that he was going to do what he could to serve us well. It was an appreciated touch. The food was tasty. We ordered the greek salad, which was adorned with plenty of feta and onions and a delicious vinaigrette, the bruschetta – a special that I couldn’t stop eating even though I’m not a big fan of fresh tomatoes, and a medium Franco’s Pizza. I liked the pizza base, but the scarce and tired toppings didn’t pack a lot of punch — it tasted like a mild white pizza. I’d definitely try their pizza again, but a different kind. We also had the tiramisu, which tasted really fresh and creamy. The best part of the whole presentation was the strong balsamic vinegar that came with the bread. In combination with the fresh parmesan and oil, it was sublime. The only annoying part of our dinner was that we were served the bruschetta, salad and pizza all at once. Be sure to spell out that you want the starter to start, etc. The entertainment kicked up around 9 p.m. after a loooong period of soundchecks. The band played Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and similar to loud applause. The singer was endearing, and a few couples got up to dance — very cute.(By the way, the clientele here is on the older side.) Overall, a very sweet evening — we’ll be back!

DISAPPOINTING. Service was horrible. We ordered salads and entrees. They brought out one salad not the other, then brought out one entrée and not the other. When we asked to have the entrée kept warm to the other was ready it took over an hour to get the entrees. Heard they had the best bread. The bread was just HEB French Bread cut into slices. We had to ask for the bread they didn’t automatically bring any and at that they only brought out two slices and it wasn’t even warm. Female bartender came and told us they would comp part of the bill due to the bad service, then a few minutes later male bartender brings a different one. My husband didn’t want to question or argue about what the female bartender said. He just wanted to pay the bill and leave. We asked the question but of course looking at bank statement today we were charged TWICE. I was really excited about going to this place and really wanted to like it, but portions really small, food ok but not great and service BAD! The only good thing was my glass of Sangria.

I’m a little surprised by the bad reviews this place has gotten because our experience here was excellent. Naples/Franco’s is a quaint little restaurant in the Alon shopping center. They have outdoor seating which I would think will be awesome once this crazy heat lets up. The inside is split into two parts. Casual in and out dining and then more of a sit-down/take a date type of seating area. Enough about the place. Here is the breakdown: Sausage, mushroom & cheese Pizza: crust was crispy, sausage bursting with flavor, not salty. Hint of fennel as you would expect, mushrooms were fresh and not canned like most pizza places. The sauce was not as much as I like my pizzas to have, but I think this one stays more true to its New York roots. Calamari: Oh my, this little squid found a place inside my heart. Iould not have beeen cooked more perfect. There was not one chewy piece. It was like the chef cooked each ring or deliciousness one by one. The calamari were breaded just right and downright delightful. It was served with a side of marinara which was tasty. But the magic happened when you dipped it in their garlic aioli sauce. Mama mia! This was a winner. Fettuccini Alfredo: creamy, cheesy, pasta about as al dente as you can make it. For a moment, I thought about committing a crime by kidnapping the chef and making him my own personal cook. I absolutely did not get sick eating this food like some other people and to be honest, you always have to take that with a grain of salt since nobody knows what else was eaten in the course of a foodies day. I loved this place and you should give it a chance.

Okay, this is a hard one, because I do not like giving bad reviews, but seriously, these people call themselves an“italian” restaurant. Worst meal we have ever had! What a waste of money. First of all you have to walk up place your order as well as pick up your order. We got a salad, a meatball sandwich and the Chicken Parmigiana to share. The pasta sauce was bland and covered in a glob on Everything. The meatballs were soft and no consistency and the combination of the sauce and the meatballs on the bread was just a big soggy mess! The chicken parmigiana was not much better! The salad was small and not impressive and worst of all Scott ordered a Peroni as in beer and could not get a glass to pour it in. Needless, to say we will never frequent this place ever again!

I went to the original Naples Pizza in New Haven, CT as a kid. My family owned an Italian restaurant near Boston. Naples is real NY style pizza. When you pick up a slice and fold it, you’ll notice the front edge droop a bit. That’s the mark of great NY pizza. Don’t pass it up.

My fiancé and I split a medium pepporni and small salad and our bill was close to $ 30. The food is a little above avg but pizza and a salad should not be that pricey.

I keep a bookmarked list of potential places to eat. I’m not sure what made me add Naples to that list — the reviews were all over the place — but it turned out to be a good decision. I grabbed a 14-incher of pepperoni and jalapenos, and it’s true that the cheese stretches like you see in commercials. Unfortunately, the bond between the cheese proved to be stronger than the bond between the cheese and the crust, resulting in half of my toppings remaining in the takout box and me with a big piece of tomato-y crust. The chewy and flavorful crust was topped with pure mozzarella, the aforementioned pepperoni and jalapeño, and a heavy dash of oregano was used to finish the whole thing. It was a very good pie, with my only complaint besides the structural issue was that the pizza was significantly greaser than I prefer.

Only authentic NY pizza I’ve found in SA in years. Great pizza! If you want ambiance or personality there are better places. But for fresh NY style pizza, I haven’t found any better. Good lunch specials too.

Me and My girlfriend shared a medium pizza, we went for a 3 topping with Pepperoni on the whole while she had Mushrooms and Bacon(They use the whole bacon) on her side and I ordered Jalapenos and Onions on mine. It took about 20 – 25 minutes to get our order which is a reasonable time given that they were a little busy. I liked the fact that we get a beat up pizza plates to eat on. To be honest I found this place a little pricey with $ 2:55 per topping(our total was $ 20ish). I did not immensely enjoyed the crust partly becoz it was burnt a bit and the dough didn’t taste fresh. I support local restaurants and have so far tried pizza’s at Florio’s, Fralo’s and Naples. I think Florio’s pizza scores well over other places, whereas Fralo’s lack consistency and Naples– I did not find anything special about there pizza but I will go back again just to be sure

Best pepperoni pizza in San Antonio(that’s what the stars are rating). Family friendly too. It does get busy at lunch, so don’t go if you’re in a rush. Their other food is par, so it you’re wanting some ziti, try elsewhere.

I want so badly for local shops to succeed but you have to pay attention to detail and run a business like you actually care about it. Just like my trip Bubbas Burgers, I walked into this joint tucked away in the corner of an old Kroger strip center, as the only patron and yet the place had at least 5 dirty tables from lunch. After making enough noise out front to finally be acknowledged by the guy in the back, I ordered the lunch special of 2 slices and a drink. Fair enough for five bucks and by the looks of the brick encased oven on display, my hopes ran high. I excused myself to the lavatory whose door was propped open by a small trash can because the light was out. Classy. God forbid we take the time to actually fix the light, hell we can’t even take the time to bus the tables! I read the story of the joint on one of their dirty menus of how they established the name many years ago in Connecticut and hosted dignitaries and uppity types then brought it down from the Yale campus so the youngest son could carry on the tradition. Ah, nepotism. The cornerstone of American business. I wish they had left it to me because I would have this place rockin’ the city. Had it not been for the overall lack of concern for appearances this place would have garnered 5 stars from me. The pizza is that good! Smoky singed edges on a crispy thin crust. Tangy sauce, spicy pepperoni and just enough melted cheese to bring it all together. I expect if I had ordered it take out, the mess inside would not have phased me. One thing’s for sure. I will definitely be back for more pie and hopefully by then they will have fixed the bathroom light fixture so I can see what I’m leaking on.
