Metro held a blah NYE2010 Party. We walked down the Houston St strip to see a long line. Expecting it to be for Metro, low and behold it was for Suede. Metro didn’t have a line ATALL at 1030pm. Probably because it cost $ 40 a couple for NYE. We expected an above and beyond party scene. What we found was cold Costco appetizers and watered down drinks. A friend of ours had a little«VIP» birthday section which required a purchase of a $ 100 Grey goose bottle. It’s NYE, It’s a birthday, OBVIOUSLY we were going to spend money, but having to buy the bottle to reserve the section on top of the $ 40 cover, was a little absurd. The furniture in the«VIP» section was so low to the ground most of the female guests needed help sitting/standing and keeping any creepers from looking up our dresses. The furniture was also breaking down. I felt like if more than 2 people were to sit on our«futon» it would snap in half! The unfortunate part of the night was no one announced the midnight call and there wasn’t a view of the strip where all the REAL action was. Most clubs have the countdown with noise makers, confetti and romantic music, but not this club. They did however have champagne, I’m not sure if that was included. The plus of the club was it was a nice place for a birthday party(minus the bottle purchase), nice restrooms, good music selection and no smoking indoors. Would I ever come back to the club for NYE? Highly unlikely.

I went there last night for the first time and it was a good time. the downstairs bouncer really loved to dance while standing at his post. he was also a pretty nice dude. the music was good all night thats always a plus. no cover is a double plus. scene was good, the standard 21 – 25 crowd. then there was a few 40+ folks in there which made me rofl a bit and happy. drinks were tasted ok but werent very strong. i had about 5 or 6 drinks/shots and i was barely buzzed. now thats weak! and the bar tender messed up my drink orders twice.

This place really, really, really sucks. I planned to come here for my 21st. Their website looked promising — and when I spoke to one of the owners, who seemed friendly and helpful, I had high expectations for Metro. But my experience was complete opposite of what I had in mind. First of all, when we arrived on a Friday night(house music night), the bouncers charged three of my friends $ 2 for cover charge — BUT their website notes«never a cover charge». When I talked to the bouncers, asking them why my friends got charged, he goes«Oh, I didn’t know they were with you…» Uhhh. Then the dance floor was completely empty. There were people standing around the bar glaring at us while we danced. After 10 minutes we left because it was so boring. We went next door to Suede, which was infinitely funner and a better crowd. After Suede closed, we went to Metro again. One bouncer apparently said something rude about me, and when one of my guy friends defended me, the bouncer got riled up, yelled at my friend and told us to never come back. What an a-hole. Never ever stepping foot in here again, even though I love house music and there aren’t many clubs in SA that play it.

I dig Metro. I really like the way you have to walk down the stairs to get to it. It feels like you’re going to a club in New York. I like the décor and the atmosphere. They’re a little lacking in the bar staff(they’re normally pretty rude) and the music can get weird sometimes. But everyone’s ready to have fun. I’ve never seen a fight there or anything shady. It’s just a cool dt spot to party…

Known this owner from H2O on Broadway, Ibiza, and now Metro. Always a good host. Excellent wait staff. Awesome sound system and lights and video wall on the dance floor. Spacious VIP areas. No smoking in the club so the ladies always love that. Right in the heart of downtown. Never seen a cover charge and the drinks are a good value. Not cheap but not $$$$. Take your friends and have a good time.

«Celebrate good times come on!» Came her to celebrate my little sissy’s graduation. I haven’t been to any downtown hot spots in a while, so I was hesitant if this area lost it’s mojo. But as soon as we walked in, we knew the drinks would be flowing and the booty would be shakin. The place is fairly large and it has a great New York feel. They had several«like oh my gosh I’m too cool» VIP sections. They were booked with several graduation and birthday parties. The bartenders could speed it up a bit; I don’t think it should take 5 minutes to get a bottle of beer… ugh. Other than that, this place was fun and we definitely had a memorable time. Heck ya!
