Delicious margaritas we like the zapata and the oro de mi tierra, we always order the chile con queso and the botana platter and they are both very good. Tonight they are playing college football they have 2 big screens. It is a nice place and it transports me to the little old town in Mexico because of the bar decoration. We usually come here on Saturday around 3 and it is packed, right now is 8:10 and it is not super busy so it’s nice.

Good service but a bit pricey. This restaurant and cantina is in a very nice part of town. Service is good after 8 pm. Prior to that there are not enough bartenders. I enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant and the mariachi band.

Awesome décor and music for the official bar outside of Mi Tierra restaurant. I elected to have my lunch here with some great«chiles rellenos» and a goblet of Dos XX draft. The framed Mariachi outfits along with the Mexican musical instruments hanging on the wall made me feel like I was in the middle of a movie. But the real attraction is the hand carved wooden bar that is just fantastic. I felt so at home that I had to order a shot of my favorite tequila, Don Julio Reposado. Salud amigos.

Unique, unique, unique. This place defines the old San Antonio vide. Like you’re stepping out of the current and into the past. The décor is great as well as the service. The drinks are AMAZING!!! It’s great to come here for just the drinks and atmosphere or even grab a drink while waiting for your party to arrive and then take it to your dinner table. The mariachis add the final touches and it’s always a good time.

Out of sight tequila flights(sample 4 tequilas in one setting)!!! Always here my first night on a San Antonio trip. HUGE tequila selection and the bartenders really know their stuff. Tequila is not just lick, slam, suck anymore. Like wine, there are many variations on how it is fermented, creating different colors and flavor profiles. The craft has truly become an art form and if you want some«education» and a great tequila«experience» this is the place for you!!! Even if you don’t generally like tequila, you WILL find something here to satiate your palate. Promise. The décor is really cool also. The grandiose bar appears to be made of hand-carved wood-I think there’s a story behind it(i.e., history), but I can’t really remember because I think it was told to me after all of the tequila. It is really opulent-just gorgeous! If you’re hungry the app menu is not bad. And, as the name suggest there is a live Mariachi band on site. They offer happy hour 3:30 — 6:30 M-F. Yeah, a little touristy but everyone is super nice and all just there to have FUN! Be adventurous! Try it! You’ll like it!

I took Fawn G.‘s suggestion and waited out a rainstorm during Fiesta with a few margaritas at Mariachi Bar. This is an awesome bar with very cool décor like it’s sister restaurant Mi Tierra. Keep in mind that during Fiesta there may be a wait to just get into the bar. I think we stood in line for 10 – 15 minutes before we got in, but it was much better than being outside in the heat/rain. Their margaritas will not disappoint. They are jumbo and full of tequila, just how they should be. Bonus — Mi Tierra is in walking distance to most Fiesta activities, and was blocks away from our seats for the Flambeau Parade. Check it out while you are downtown for Fiesta or otherwise. It is a great place to take your homies from out of town too.

While waiting for a table at the adjacent Mi Tierra, or just lounge to some great Mexican beers or Margaritas, listen to the best live Mariachi music in the Southwest. The appetizer selection in the bar is not the greatest but satisfies your hunger when you are having cocktails. There is an outdoor patio great to watch people on the plaza and is quieter if you want to talk.

If you happen to visit the neighborhood during peak Fiesta or dining hours, kill your time here. The atmosphere will take you back to the Wild Wild West. I happen to find Mi Tierra, Mariachi Bar and La Margarita prime tourist, prime romantisizing good times. Call me crazy, but four guys with horns and a bass guitar making sweet sweet music makes my heart melt. Add whiskey, fine local beer on tap and Christmas lights, I’m yours.

I would recommend this bar to all my friends. You can think of any drink and they can make it for you. I ordered a Mojito and man was it the best I ever had! With plenty of seating and a huge bar with stools, this place can make a drunk out of anyone. I am curious about the statue of baby Jesus and Joseph right above the bar looking down at everyone though. I wasn’t offended at all being Catholic but just curious at how that decision was made. Maybe that’s why I only ordered one drink…

Where do I start w/this place? Ok Dec 2003 — I was proposed to here. I said no of course, but I still love this place! I drank so many glasses of wine and a few shots of Don Julio and I still said NO! lol. how you like them apples? THis place has the best most romantic ambiance(to me anyway) and I just love the charro outfits on the wall. Makes me feel as if I’m transported back in time to a simpler time when love and the revolution were dire and this here tequila is going down way to smoothly.(la tercera como agua) I returned a few wks later(w/the guy I said NO to. who coincidentally stole back the ring he gave me(the day PRIOR to him asking me) the ring was a xmas gift. But he lied and made it seem as if housekeeping stole it. Such a bad liar. anyway. we came for NYE and we were DENIED! We were told we need a reservation, we were like, its a bar? Needless to say we ended up somewhere else spending over $ 450.(not me but the guy who stole bk his $ 100 ring) lol hehe you see why I said no? I came back to this awesoem place w/my mom who took one look @ the $ 8.00 house marg. and said vamanos. she refused to let me pay that much for a drink a diabetic shouldnt have in the first place. I came yet again with a few friends wks later(i lived 3 hrs away @ the time) and we had a few huge margaritas that were spectacular. The most recent and best time yet! was in 2007 October — 12th– the day before Vicente Fernandez concert. My love(the man I’m still with today) flew in from Albuquerque(his job transferred him away from me) and we had the best time here. walking over from the holiday inn just down the road. appetizer platter was delicious, margaritas were magnificent and the shots. u know that already. I love this ambiance and the live mariachi bands and rows and rows of tequilas can made anyone fall in love. Definitely on a MUSTDO if you are in San Antonio, TX!
