I actually work here and I would like to say that our most popular items are cheeseburger, jalopeno cheeseburger, mushroom swiss burger, chicken tenders, fried mushrooms, fried pickles and cheddar burger! I love our customers and we are a family orientated business so our regulars are always remembered! I’ve tried most of our menu and I would definitely recommend this place to eat at. I also love working here so a happy employee hopefully means a happy customer!

Serviceable burger. Good onion rings(albeit I’m not a fan of thick cut ones like they sever here). Tater Tots(ok.guess I’m not a fan of their’s or anyone else’s.

Unassuming burger café. The burgers r juicy, both chicken n beef. Everything is up front, no surprises, just comforting food. There’s a nice deck outside too. They also offer miniature pies n brownies. Hill country décor.

Good burgers, crispy tots, huge and flavorful mushrooms, chicken strips that actually taste like chicken instead of just batter, and a grilled chicken sandwich which is never dry. We come here about once a month. Atmosphere is laid back and kid friendly. Staff is always quick and helpful. The patio is great when the weather is mild.

Great big juicy hamburgers. The fries and onion rings leave something to desire so go with the tater tots instead They also have a really good chicken fried steak sandwich. However, listen up Longhorn — you have a definite problem with the restrooms. Either your plumbing is backed up or something has died. On most occasions, we try to sit in the back area near the soda fountain, but on many cases, the smell has overwhelmed us — we’ve even smelled it in the back parking lot There have also been a couple of times we did not go for fear of the smell. Your food is really really great, so keep on keeping on. Just fix the smelll…

After a long hike, this is a super place to go. Their special today was pulled pork. Their combination plates are always reasonable and can substitute sweet potatoe fries for a slight charge. The turkey burger is one of the best in town. This location is super clean and comfortable. Some weekends they have music and the outside area is a nice setup for a small band or individual musician. The inside seating is large and can accomodate many. Management and staff are professional and friendly.

It’s good, not supergreat, pricing reasonable, staff is friendly. But the last time I went I saw the cooks with some serious beards one even was messing with it. I’m not a pose to them having beards. My cooks have them small and trimmed. If you are going to allow them to have that big, better invest beard nets. Especially with the open kitchen concept. Now my and my kids food was just fine. But just that one time could hurt you in the long run.

I don’t get over to this restaurant nearly as often as I like since it’s a bit of a drive, but I am always pleased by the great service and the excellent food. The atmosphere is friendly and not in the least pretentious.

I will visit this place again, really good friendly atmosphere. Kid friendly also. Food is cooked to order. You can also watch your food get cooked if you like.

Growing up, my husband had fond memories of family lunches at Longhorn Café on Blanco. When we saw that one had opened out I10, we thought we’d give it a try. What a mistake. The food was terrible. I ordered the bean burger, my 1 year old daughter had the chicken tenders, my 4 year old son had the nachos, and my husband had the Angus burger with bacon and Swiss. My burger was bland and the beans were gross. Therefore, the nachos were also gross. My daughter, who is normally a vacuum cleaner when it comes to food, grimaced and spit out everything she tried(tenders, fries, my burger). My husband said there was nothing redeeming about the food and the only reason he ate his burger is because he was starving. Save your money for one of the many other fantastic restaurants around town. This isn’t one of them.

Super quick service and food came out hot and fresh! I got the half basket of onion rings and the fried chicken sandwich. Bf got the chicken fried steak with fries and corn! My sandwich was delicious but I would tell you to add the mayo yourself. I’ve had it overdone in the past so i prefer to be in charge :) onion rings were plentiful and too much to finish. Messy sandwich but delicious. I added a little of their hot sauce for a kick! Only complaint was corn that came as CFS side dish was a little mushy like it had been boiling or sitting in water for a long time. Great deal and we will definitely return! !

I have to admit. I love burgers! Over the years, I have eaten at Longhorn — liking them at first, and then growing bored which just seemed like another burger… In fact, my never ending search for the perfect burger too me to many other San Antonio burger joints that I liked better… Nevertheless, I decided to give the Longhorn another try so, we ordered take out. I have to admit — the Longhorn Café came through!!! I am picky about the temperature of my burgers. When I order medium rare, or rare, I want it to be just that… When I ordered the Angus burger medium rare it was!!! A beautiful, juicy medium rare. Even after my drive home, it was medium rare, and juicy. Like an burger made from Angus should be! i ordered my burger with the works and asked for extra pickles and it had it a! Fresh lettuce, tasty pickles, onions, tomatoes, mustard and mayo all in correct proportions. My ONLY complaint is that the bun was a little soggy… The fries were okay, and the onion rings were sweet and crispy. All in all, we have added Longhorn back into our burger options!!!

Decent casual family place to get burger/fries. You walk up to order & pay, then they call you when your order is ready. There are some games, so bring quarters for the kiddies. We ordered fried chicken sandwich, Angus burger, chicken fried steak, onion rings and fries. The chicken sandwich was pretty decent I’d give it a *4*. The fries were OK… a *3*, the onion rings didn’t have a much breading and they were… meh…I’d give them a *2*. Burger and chicken fried steak were given *3* by my dining companions. They were OK, not great. I’d go back if the line was too long to eat anywhere else… Or maybe if I had a coupon.

Well, I can’t say this place was bad; it’s a very normal and casual burger joint. Very simple and cheap burgers, and the usual fries, onion rings, shakes, etc. The people were nice and it’s more so a family-oriented restaurant than anything else. We happened to get two jalapeño cheese burgers with an order of half fries, half onion rings, and some fried pickles as the appetizer. The fried pickles were okay at best. I thought the fries were pretty good and the onion rings actually came apart, but there was really no flavor to them. The burgers are huge, so if you don’t have much of an appetite, you can easily share the burger with someone. I personally thought my vanilla shake rocked, though. Super sweet with the right amount of whipped cream — yum! There was also a water balloon artist there, so I happened to get myself a cute little giraffe balloon made. Thanks, Zain B. Also, we came here on a somewhat rainy Saturday night; plenty of seating available and the food was out promptly. Just an average casual burger joint. There’s no reason not to try it if you’re in the mood for burgers, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come out here.

They had me at fried okra! The menu had a nice variety and I wanted to try the chicken fried steak but I was sent to Longhorn for the burgers so I got a burger. I ordered a burger and fried okra(oh ya). It was great! The okra was perfect and the burger was big, juicy and very good. The only negative about the burger was that the bun was ‘wet’. not a bad ‘wet’ but maybe it had a butter coating on it. No problem though, I simply wrapped my burger in a napkin and ate it. I also ordered a kid’s hamburger meal. Normally a kid’s meal can feed all 3 of my girls. One child eats the burger– which was plenty big– and the other child eats the fries– which did not include many at all– the baby just nibbles. If I had known the kid’s meal did not include many fries I would have ordered a separate order of fries. As a side. we also ordered onion rings. they were great. We will come again.

I had very high hopes for this place considering it’s reviews not only on this site but from San Antonio’s own burger blog. And while I found certain elements of this meal very satisfying, untimately I felt compelled to award them 3 stars for reasons I will get soon explain. First and foremost, I had the bacon cheddar burger(minus mustard — never been a big fan). The patty was well seasoned and had a nice crust on the outside from the flattop. When I picked it up, I did have a small amount of burger leakage but not so much as to call the burger«greasy». The burger came topped with shredded lettuce, pickles, tomato and of course cheddar cheese and bacon. The cheese tasted like a decent aged cheddar, which I like immensely. The bacon was also great because they didn’t over cook it. Too often burger joints will crisp the bacon so much that it simply crumbles when bitten. Not the case here. The final thing I really enjoyed about this burger was the mayo. I love me some mayo on a burger. There were no other condiments e.g., catsup, to get in the way(there is a bottle on the table if you are so inclined). On to the sides… Tots. Why don’t more places offer tots? The tots at Longhorn were perfectly cooked but needed a pinch of salt to get them just right. We got the ½ and ½ which means you can choose 2 of the following: fries, tots, and onion rings. We went with the tots and rings. As I just mentioned, the tots were tops but the onion rings failed miserably. When I picked my order up from the counter I noticed that my rings were very well done(see my pic). This came as a shock because everyone elses rings were cooked to a nice golden color. I was seconds from lodging a complaint when my better half persuaded me to not make a scene. The restaurant is rustic in appearance with some outside seating. The drinks are self serve and they offer plenty of options to include sweet and unsweet tea with both lemon and lime wedges. There’s plenty of space in their dining area so groups shouldn’t be a problem. OK, so why then did they get 3 stars. First, while I did like the burger, they could take a good burger and make it great by buttering and tasting the bun. Just a small strike, if small strikes exist. Second, don’t serve burned onion rings(or fried or tots for that matter). Third, even though there were only 5 people ahead of us in line, it took about 25 minutes to get our order. Maybe we just missed a rush of people. I don’t know. Last, we had to sort through the silverware because nearly all the forks were dirty. Major downgrade! I mean, usually I dive right in with whatever silverware I pull from a container but this really stopped me short. I will definitely be giving Longhorn another try because despite the negatives above, the burger was still very tasty and very well priced. In fact, their entire menu is very reasonable. So, despite the negatives, I do like it and I will recommend it to others. I just hope that someone from Lonhgorn reads this review and addresses the deficiencies.

I have come to the conclusion that most of the reviewers here are deprived if really, REALLY good burgers. This place is not terrible, but not memorable. Let me give you an example how how non-memorable it is. I was craving a burger and wanted to try something different that wasn’t ruined by Jesus(all the good places are closed on Sunday’s). I looked on Unilocal and saw a lot of good reviews on this place, so I decided to check it out. When I walked in, I felt a bit of familiarity. Couldn’t pin point it. So I look at the menu, then order. Ohhhh!!! I remember now! I have eaten at a Longhorn café. The one on SE Military! It was too late to back out. I already ordered. See, that’s how memorable it is. If you’re up for a mediocre burger, you can handle it. If you have never had an orgasmic tasting burger, you won’t mind it.

There are a lot of mixed reviews about this place and for me trying almost every burger place in San Antonio I have to say that this is one of my favorite burger spots in SA. I love going back not just for the food but because of the country vibe I get from the place. Look right out the window and you see the lovely hill country and a clear view of the dominion homes. My favorite burger to get is the guacamole burger. All their burgers are served medium well and are extremely juicy; hence the tagline of the restaurant«home of the big juicy». Also the sweet tea is amazing and all the more reason why I love coming here. They also have very nice country music and sometimes have live music on the outdoor patio. They also have a small arcade and sometimes a clown so I guess if you have kids that’s all the more reason to go here unless you are afraid of clowns then call in advance to make sure he’s not there.

If you’re looking for healthier burgers, Longhorn is not for you. If you love juicy burgers with melty, creamy cheese and generous toppings, you definitely want to give Longhorn a try. My friend brought me here on a Saturday, right in the middle of the lunch rush. Walking in, the first things you notice are the deer heads and cowboy art mounted on the walls, the long beer cooler, and the bustling open kitchen. Service was quick and efficient; our order of sweet potato fries and fried pickles were out within 5 minutes of getting our drinks and sitting down. Fountain drinks and tea are self-serve, which is great for those of us that like to mix flavors(Coke and Dr. Pepper) or drink a lot. The drink area was clean, but the lids and straws were out. However, by the time we went for refills, there were large towers of lids and fistfuls of straws. The fried pickles we shared were fresh out of the fryer, served with ranch for dipping. It was the first time I had ever had fried pickles, and I am a fan. The breading wasn’t too thick and was nice an crispy, and the pickles weren’t some mushy lump inside. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I’ve had. Within 10 minutes of getting our sweet potato fries and fried pickles, our cheeseburgers were ready to be picked up. I moved to the San Antonio area just under a year ago, and I have yet to find any place with a cheeseburger anywhere as near as good as this one was. It was hot, juicy, on a grilled bun. The cheese was melted enough to be a creamy blob, but didn’t drip or run off the patty. Standard toppings are: mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and onion. I had expected globbed on mayo and mustard, one slice of tomato, and maybe two pickle slices. No– the mayo and mustard were spread out on the bun, not too thick or thin. TWO slices of ripe, flavorful tomato and maybe 5 pickle slices. While we shared everything, there was still a LOT of food left over, and we could have easily fed a third person. Definitely worth it!

I was really let down with the burger. Everyone recommended that I get the burgers because they were fantastic. I got the Angus Burger and had them add Guac to it. The Guac was really good. The meat was a little weird… it almost seemed rubbery. The burger did not break away when I bit into it. Very hard to explain… it reminded me of a bad breakfast pork sausage patty. I would definately not choose to come back here. I would recommend that you try anthing deep fried here. The Texas Show Strings were awesome. They were green beans that were deep fried… not healthy but damn good. Tater Tots were good and so were the fried pickles. The deep fried jalepanos were okay. They were hard to eat because when you bit into it the jalepano would not break apart. So on your first bite the whole jalepeno slid out and into your mouth. The inside of the location was cute… open kitchen was nice and the long beverage cooler was cool… but the burger was a major letdown!!!
