Food was bland and way overpriced. Had a prickly pear margarita at $ 10 for a plastic clear cup. Not even a glass cup. It was strong but good. The food was he issue. I had the tacos al pastor hoping they were delicious. No sides included with the food. No salsa, no limes, no nothing. The meat was flavorless and the only flavor I could get from the food were the pineapple chunks. Definitely won’t be coming here again.

Obviously overhyped Pearl food. when it comes to Mexican food that decides to be slightly expensive in San Antonio, I have to judge harshly because you can get some boss Mexican food in San Antonio for nearly nothing It was okay, I’m still trying to understand why I needed to eat a deep fried taco(didn’t know it was deep fried, I thought the items were battered), I’m wondering if that’s authentic which seems to be the difference between this place and others. The claim to authenticity. I thought this place would be similar to the Mexican food in Cali but no. Either way, loved the fresh cabbage medley that was on it. I appreciate the excellent service, open cooking area and good food.

For an airport restaurant, the prices are unheard of. I had the chilaquiles verdes for breakfast, and it was incredible. Better than any I’ve had in LA, then again, I like TexMex better than Californian Mex any day.

This wasn’t a bad place for an airport restaurant. We had a long layover on our flight to Phoenix. The restaurant was rather crowded, but service was pretty prompt. Cheap shots with every beer was a little dangerous, but make the layover go by quickly.

I have been coming here for a while mostly to unwind on a cocktail or two. If you’re looking to have an amazing dining experience you might want to try something else. But if you’re looking for a fun drink menu and laid back outdoor atmosphere, this is the place. The food and drinks come out quickly and it is dog friendly.

My first time there. I meant to order the Pescado tacos which gave a choice of grilled or fried. I thought that I ordered the grilled, but instead I ordered the Vallartas, which is battered with I don’t not know what covered over a fish, crab and shrimp combination. They put approx 1TBS of fish substance in it and then fry it. I guess it is okay if you just like a bunch of fried batter. The real pain is that it cost $ 12.79 for 3TBS of fish substance. I told the waiter it was a sin and to discourage patrons from ordering this. I ate the 3TBS and the pickled vegs on top and left all the battered substance. This was at the Dominion location.

Finding ourselves in the San Antonio airport earlier this week, my wife and I were starving after a long day and looking for a place to escape the throngs of roaming travelers and screeching children. Lots of places have patio seating, but I try to avoid it because there’s just too much cross traffic and noise. We spotted La Gloria and saw that while it was open in the front, there were spots further in the back that were, for all intents and purposes, «inside» seating. Took a chance and got a table, hoping the food quality would be a bit better than the rape-pricing, fast-food-ish options that litter the terminal. The menu is a bit complex, because while it tells you what meat your tacos come with, for example, it will not tell you what else is on the taco. Some folks don’t like cheese, or might want to know how spicy the other ingredients are, but that information is nowhere to be found. It also doesn’t seem clear if you can order, for example, the 3 street tacos only the same way, or if you can mix and match. We opted to go with an order of beef and an order of chicken tacos this go around. For airport fare, the food wasn’t too bad at all at all. Tacos were, as expected, somewhat small and skimpy on the meat, but being in an airport, I didn’t expect supreme value for the dollar. I also went out on a limb and tried one of their panuchos, the Cochinita Pibil(marinated pork). The pork was good and flavorful, but tostada underneath that was stuffed with refried beans was, to be plunt, a poor man’s papusa at best. Definitely not memorable or delicious and I could have easily gone without it. In fact it was probably the only thing I wouldn’t eat again. On balance, for airport fare, I’d say a solid 4-stars. Tacos were good, but I’d probably order a lot more of them, since an order of 3 is not going to fill up anyone. The ambiance is nice and you definitely get some privacy and a nice place to sit down and relax. Interesting décor and friendly staff as well, even though they were busy.

Tonight I visited the dominion location. The wait was about a 30 – 45 min wait, which I expected because they are a new location. I had their chips and very hot but tasty roasted salsa. I had their black bean tostadas with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and queso fresco and crema. We also had their chicken street taquitos and mole sopes. The chicken taquitos were excellent. The mole sopes were a twist on a traditional gordita. It was like a tostada but on a thick soft corn tortilla drizzled with mole sauce. The guacamole was excellent. Their wait staff was attentive and their kitchen was fast. We did not wait long at all for our food.

Dominion location– Service was terrible today. 40 minutes to get a table and then over 1h to get our entre once we were seated. Needs work.

So excited to check out the new patio closer to home. Unfortunately they put the patio on the freeway side so we got to have dinner with all the passing highway traffic. Still working out the kinks here. Let’s hope the service gets better. Lots of tables but no wait staff. $ 11 glass of wine that was hot. Thankfully the guacamole was amazing. Chunky like you make it at home. The beef Street tacos were tasty. They just needed to be a little warmer. I would say I would come here again but the traffic noise is to much.

So apparently Johnny Hernandez does not frequent La Gloria. I was enthusiastic to try this restaurant for some time, and was surprised that the guacamole was horrible. Thinking that the sous chef got hold of a bad avocado, I informed the server. She said all the avocados they received were bad. She had the manager take it off the bill. The horrible taste of rotted avocado was also in the tomatillo salsa and ruined one of the dishes at our table. I was really surprised that the manager didn’t take initiative to drive to the market to remedy the problem. The marinated pork in the street tacos was really dry and lacked flavor. Way too many wonderful Jalisco’s in San Ann for me to ever return to La Gloria.

Good breakfast tacos! Their Bloody Mary is great; I tried both spicy and not spicy the chili lime rim salt totally makes the drink.

The prickly pear margarita lured us in as we had one on the riverwalk years ago. This didn’t compare to that one, but it was still pretty tasty. We only tried the chips with guacamole and salsa. The chips were some of the best I’ve had and living in San Diego, that’s saying something. The guac was ok, but could have used a little more lime and jalapeño. Of the food coming out, the torta looked like the best bang for your buck, but don’t know how it tasted. Lots of people in here so if stranded at the airport again, would probably go back to try some real food. Learned afterwards that there is an app you can download and get 10% off your food purchases. Quite a few of the dining spots at the airport participate.

Ordered the chicken tacos thinking it would be a safe bet; boy was I wrong! How do you mess up chicken tacos? Chicken was flavorless and salty and the portion was a disappointment for $ 7! Also ordered a chips and guacamole… which was just ok but overpriced for around $ 7. The only good thing about this restaurant is the seating… especially if you need privacy. Not sure if the folks that gave it 4+ stars have ever had real Mexican food. Compared to this Taco Bell seems far more authentic! I will not be patronizing this place in my upcoming travels to San Antonio.

Stopped here for lunch before boarding flight in San Antonio — what an awesome surprise! Ordered the Penucha Pibil(pulled pork over a black bean filled torta with ancho peppers… So good!) Delicious and unique food — would definitely come here again!

I used to live near Nuevo Leon, Mexico. This is a very good restaurant. Good service, and clean environment. Although the menu is more authentic than most SA Tex-Mex, the tortillas and certain menu items scream«Austin». Great experience, but a few blocks away is Taqueria Datapoint, the most authentic Mexican food in SA.

This review is only a 4 star because their service is hit or miss. Their food though, is out of this world, I don’t have a bad thing to say about it other than its a little questionable to charge $ 5 for chips and salsa. The elote is so amazing that I ate it on the cob in public, and I usually won’t. The drinks are pretty potent, so be careful with them, or you’ll be walking around the pearl tipsy at noon like my friend and I did(worth it). I recommend everything, but the deshebrada is one of my favorite quesadillas, just make sure to use the roasted salsa for the best taste.

We are SUCHFANS of this place. We found this place after eating at the boiler room the other night. As we were taking a walk around Pearl, we came across this place which rather intrigued our taste bud senses. So we stopped by the next day for lunch and what a delight. The staff is sweet, and the most hospitable of them all was fransisco. We ordered the corn, beans, octopus dish, ceviche verde and OMG the guava juice was on point! DELISH! Its such a neat spot and they are dog friendly. Helloooo wuff wuff friends that can also hang out with the ducks walking up from the river. Just visit it and youll understsand. Theyve got the concept right. BYTHEWAY, its the one in PEARL that we visited. Labeled as la gloria ice house.
