Jerry’s Artarama San Antonio

I went for the first tome and I sm in love with Jerry’s. They have fantastic selection of speciality papers at the best prices I have seen, staff was great and helpful, ink selection was larger than most and I have not seen lower prices. Can not wait to go back. VIP card was definitely worth it. The gentleman that closed the Sunday before Memorial day was awesome! Would highly recommend to all!

First words out of my 10yr olds mouth…“WOW MOM!, they have EVERYTHING!!!” «dont you ever come here without me!!». It was wonderful to finally find an art store close to home and that had a huge variety of paints, canvas, etc… it takes your imagination to a whole new exciting level of creative. LOVE THIS PLACE. I enjoy coming to Jerry’s for the sales and promotions they have. In terms of selection they have the usual art supplies for art enthusiasts and professionals however for more specialized materials or niche items there are better art suppliers to work with.
I suppose my biggest criticism about Jerry’s is the staff, don’t get me wrong they’re friendly et al. But they don’t know their products very well and their recommendations are adequate for a beginner or an intermediate level artist at best. I would take their advice with a grain of salt.

This store is located by North Star Mall. They have a lot of reduced prices and deals! Get there rewards card and sign up for email savings. If you are a teacher they will even come out to your school for free and do an art lesson demo. Everybody in this store is very helpful and friendly. I used to go to this store when I lived in Austin but now I am so glad to have one in San Antonio. They have art lesson at the store. This is not a Hobby Lobby … this store has wide range of professional art supplies. They have better store hours than Herwecks and Hobby Lobby. BUT if you are looking for screen printing supplies or have screen printing questions I still recommend Herwecks for that.

Jerry’s…heaven on earth. The doors part like clouds in the sky, a beam of light blinds you and distant angels sing. Upon entering you are greeted by aisles upon aisles, shelves upon shelves of glorious art supplies, some which you didn’t even know existed. Your heart beats, you skip a step and thats when the inspiration arrives, swarming your mind like so many butterflies… dancing amongst the flowers. But seriously, this place is awesome. Maybe I’m still on my art-​store high or maybe this place really is that awesome. Reasonable prices, a wide selection, knowledgeable helpful staff. What more could you ask for? Oh, how about exactly that thing you were looking for that you thought you were gonna have to order online but no they have it here and they’re not trying to rip you off like another not-​to-​be-​named big box retailer? Yup yessir.

So I got to reenact a paint version of «The Hills of Alive,» with arms outstretched, spinning in an aisle of Charvin. Jerry’s is perhaps the best art store in which I’ve had the joy of shopping. It is located nearby the North Star Mall, and is an easy location to find with great hours (open until 5pm on Sundays – call for more information for other days). Parking is more than adequate, and is shared with the other nearby stores in the strip mall.
The employees are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, both on the phone and in person. They were very willing to tell me their stock on the phone, and they were the only store in town that sold paperclay for my project, along with polyester resin. Their inventory is so ridiculously diverse that I would recommend checking online to have an idea of what they have (
) before you double check with the nice people on the phone.
Jerry’s has an enormous selection of paints – the store itself is actually quite large and extends back far like some wondrous tunnel of dreams and colors, complete with paintings on the wall above the shelves.
Wanting to try out a new hobby? Not to fear! The employees are wondrous to consult, willing to answer every inane question I had over different brands of acrylics and the pros and cons of each – all without any air of pretense or superiority. So leave behind those excuses and just jump in.
There’s also a VIP discount program, so if you plan on frequenting this store (which you should), don’t forget to grab one!
