First time there. Environment was welcoming, staff was friendly and attentive. Food was a little pricey but overall very good.

We enjoyed the food and drinks here. Our waiter, Wes, was great. We came for the Sunday happy hour, and we’re leaving full, and feeling goood! We had the stuffed mushrooms, goat cheese artichoke bites, 2 mini angus burgers, avocado chicken eggrolls, chicken lettuce wraps… fresh agave margarita, long island iced tea, and mango ginger martini… all under $ 5 each. I really really enjoyed the burger. The goat cheese artichoke bites are thee TRUTH! They made my soul melt alittle… The drinks were good, but super sweet… At least my margarita was. Since there isn’t much else to do in San Antonio, we’ll definitely be back! We enjoyed it.

Restaurant is elegant yet simple. The food was mediocre and decent for the price I paid. I had their thin pizza and the pizza was burned and not as good as I would have expected it to be. The portions of the food are very small and expensive. Service provided is great, they have great servers that ensure their customer is happy. Overall, nice place to mingle but expensive food with mediocre taste.

First off, I will be returning to Houlihans. This review is for this particular incident. I ordered the potstickers and they came out very hot. I don’t understand why some restaurants think customers want to eat scalding hot food. Either way, even though I am ravenously hungry, I wait about 5 – 7 minutes for them to cool. However, the moment I bite into it, hot oil shoots onto my hand and lips, burning me. I have had potstickers at other restaurants and this has never happened before. One of the managers gave me some burn ointment and it did help, but as I took another bite of the potstickers, it happened again! Thankfully the temperature had cooled so it wasn’t as hot. It was very disappointing. My hand still hurts a little, and my mouth is still burning. Sigh. As I said, I’ll go back again because I love their shrimp tacos, but i will never be ordered their potstickers again. If anyone from their management staff reads this, please exercise caution when giving your guests hot food.

The potstickers and flatbread were delicious! Very fresh! And Johnathan was our server and he was fantastic! The service he provided was as great as it was on our last visit when he was also our waiter! He remembered us and anticipated our needs!!! We will be back!

This place is the best I love the whole coupon usage I think it is very new and refreshing. And the food is so good, I had a steak with asparagus and a baked potato and it was expertly cooked and seasoned. I always come here for my steaks not some steak house hag over cooks their food. And I ahead to say it is pretty competitively priced to other similar places. Overall I suggest this restaurant for a good meal and good experience, I suggest the steak.

Came here with friends for some drinks and apps on a weekend evening. I was surprised as to how empty the place was, but we were a large group so it was advantageous for us. The environment was very clean, and had a sort of «old school Americana» posh theme going for it. The servers were friendly, but seemed to get orders mixed up a lot. My biggest gripe would have to be with the drinks; far too much ice, and they seemed to be watered down. The prices for food options were also a tad expensive for the amount we got. Overall, it’s definitely not a bad place if you come for Happy Hour, but there are other options out there.

Three stars because I figured one star for service and five stars for food, average would be 3! We came for lunch at the start of restaurant week and i picked this restaurant because of the many choices offered for their restaurant week menu. Turns out, only one of three desserts offered was available and then not enough risotto for the three scallops entrée we ordered. Its the first day and they ran out? Our waitress was super slow when I think there were like five tables filled out of the entire restaurant? Then she kept bringing out half the food for our party of five and take forever to bring out the other half. This happened with the salad, the entrée and the dessert. She offered an additional dessert choice then ended up charging us for those until I reminded her, if you’re going to offer a substitution for a pre fixed menu/price, then don’t charge for it. This of course, took more extra time. Yes, we might just still go back because of food but if we get that same waitress, I will ask for another server because she WILL ruin our dining experience.

Great food and happy hour. The hostess is so nice but the waitresses have an attitude problem. I was the first customer at 11 and didn’t get a drink for 15 min.

Another favorite restaurant of mine, but I am giving it 3 vs. 5 stars for the hit or miss service. I usually visit Houlihan’s with my girlfriends or with my family. Either way, it’s a great food experience, but the service is definitely a crapshoot. Highlights: The drinks are amazing. My ultimate favorite drink is the X Rated Flirtini. It’s a little strong, so I can only have one and be able to drive home safely. I have tried the wine flights, which are pretty good as well. The appetizers are my favorite. I usually order appetizers to share and that’s it. The ahi tuna appetizer is my favorite. I can usually have that as a whole meal. Pot Stickers are ok –they taste like they were frozen and from Costco. My favorite dinner is the Sea Scallops, and I substitute the risotto with the golden mashers, which are delicious. Also, the French Onion soup is the best in the City. Very flavorful and filling. Lowlights: The menu changes sporadically, so don’t get too attached to an entrée. Some entrees or apps will change in some variation, but if popular enough, it will stay on the menu. The service at this location is hit or miss. Some waiters are very attentive, others need to just write the order down and stop acting like they are cool because they are memorizing your order. Other waiters are just completely inattentive and you have to remind them several times of your original order. Tip: Sitting outside is beautiful, since its overlooked by the golf course, but the cigarette smoke can get intense. Also, the Crème Brûlée dessert is my favorite, but I always ask them to warm it before it comes out, because it is served cold. I don’t like it like that, and they usually a accommodate my request.

We enjoyed every bite! We had Thai grilled chicken, fish n chips, almond crusted tilapia, and steak! Our server was top notch(doesn’t even write anything down). We had NOLEFTOVERS. Very unusual for 2 in the group. I tried the minibar of martinis. Oh my. So good! I tried the hibiscus(my fav), the blueberry, and the mango ginger. They were all very good cocktails. We will be back!

I like Houlihan’s. This is the second time I’ve been here and it’s a restaurant and place to get drinks that actually makes sense. With reverse happy hour from 9 – 11, which makes their Liter Long Islands $ 5.00 compared to $ 9, you want to stick around and stay later. I’ve had the Georgia Peach, the Raspberry, and the the Texas Tea Long Islands. All very good, my friends have had the Kentucky Bourbon and the Tennessee Whiskey too and after trying them decided they were good too! If you’re not up for a Long Island, check out the Raspberry Mojito. We usually go and split appetizers when we’re there. The Parmesan Fries are a staple. There flatbreads are great. The Calamari is breaded perfectly! But it’s really all about the Thai Chicken Wings! We weren’t going to get this but our server highly suggested it! We have gotten the chicken nachos as well before and they aren’t impressive so stay away from them. The servers are great! The bar is fun to sit at and watch the Spurs play! The outdoor seating area is nice an looks out onto a golf course! The atmosphere is modern with a nice warming touch!

Friday night. The fries were ok. Service is great! And that’s where it ends. The salad was shredded ice burg, much like they’d use on tacos. They tried covering it up with the toppings, but I needed a spoon to pick anything up. Maybe if I cover it with enough bleu cheese or ranch? Chicken tenders were enough to feed a family– so portion is great! But the quality was sub par. Dry and not appetizing. I had 2⁄6 of the tenders. The fries were good though, thanks to the honey mustard. I’m not one to leave reviews, but the salad made me angry. Full but unsatisfied

I USED to love coming here, they did away with the wonderful loaded Mac and Cheese(with bacon and chives) and now literally only have KRAFTMAC? SERIOUSLY? drinks are defiantly sub-par now, word of advice, if you’re going to charge those prices make sure the quality matches.

Houlihan’s is one of those places that my husband and I used to eat at often when we lived in San Antonio. Back then though I ate gluten and dairy. So going this past time was so hard for me as I am gluten free and Dairy free now out of necessity. But that didn’t mean that I didn’t question whether I wanted to kill my GI tract for their delicious Avocado chicken rolls and golden mashed tators. With that said I had the salmon with asparagus and fries. I had the french fries because I originally tried their rice with pineapple and just thought it was not tasty. The mixture of warm pineapple and bitter green onions was just weird to me… The fish was good and would be delicious on a gluten free bun as a burger. Now I ordered double asparagus, which was the amount of 6 asparagus. the food itself took up about 20% of the plate, and the rest was just open space. I do feel that for $ 15.25 you shouldn’t portion food like I am 5. Seriously, if you are a athlete, body builder or someone that consumes a lot of food because you workout a lot, this place is not a good choice. Last month when my husband was bulking he would of had to have three plates to come up with the oz. he would of needed per meal. . Now the food is good, the atmosphere is nice and the bar(I didn’t drink) looked nice. The place stays open until midnight … I do plan to return, just know that your ticket can easily be $ 60.00 bucks for two people with tip. Oh yeah and my waitress was nice, but not overly personable… :)

Houlihans is one of my personal favorite places. I come here for the awesome happy hour deals(Long Island pitcher iced teas) & for the delicious«Creekstone Farms Meatloaf.» This experience i had was absolutely terrible. My server was terrible, I came on a Sunday night around 9pm and I got the vibe that everyone there just wanted to leave and go home. The hostess didn’t welcome my friends and I because she was on her phone. We asked her we wanted the happy hour and she pointed to the bar area. We sat down and wasn’t greeted until 7 minutes passed by. The server seemed friendly but she wasn’t very easy to communicate with because she was very short with her answers. We ordered a few Long Island Iced Teas. When they came out they were delicious(ASALWAYS). We all ordered either the«Georgia Peach» or the«Texas Beach.» Happy hour is all day Sunday so we were excited. We ordered 3 orders of the«Spicy Chicken Avodacdo Eggrolls,» which were only $ 3.95 each. The came out pretty good, very flavorful and yummy. It took our waiter awhile to make her way back to our table, other servers or food runners were bringing us our appetizers and were re-taking our drink orders. One of my friend had to grab our servers attention and let her know we were ready to order. I ordered the meatloaf as I always do every time I come here. It always tastes delicious, the red wine mushroom gravy they use is to die for. Unfortunately this time it came out terrible. The mash potatoes were cold, there was barely any mushroom sauce, the meat loaf itself was burnt at the bottom, and the fried onion rings on top were soggy and soft. I took a bite and sent it right back, I didn’t end up eating anything after that because I was so disappointed. I just drank a few Long Island Ice Teas. This is something I get every time and when I looked in the kitchen I see people already doing their closing duties and rushing whatever they were doing. I work in the food industry so trust me I get it. The server listened to my complaint and she even told me, «I’m not suprised because I don’t like one of the cooks in there she has an attitude and doesn’t watch what she’s doing.» … Really I watched the server take my plate to the kitchen and I noticed one of the cooks walked up to her and looking at the plate and they both laughed and the cook rolls her eyes and looks at my table. Absolutely ridiculous. I’m a customer who continuously comes to this place and brings many people in as well. As of now I won’t be returning to this location, the Live Oak location never disappoints. Drinks are good but the food was terrible sad to say. My advice, never go in when it’s an hour before closing because the service is terrible and you get the vibe that you need to hurry up, eat, and leave. Super disappointed.

The food here is excellent, and the manager was very attentive when I had an issue. He called me to ensure everything was okay. I love the flights of martinis and the email club that sends me coupons to eat there. Also, they have a military discount which doesn’t happen everywhere!

My Friend and I decided to catch a night cap and stopped into this restaurant. I had passed it several times but always found myself at an establishment that I was familiar with. We settled into one of the bar tables and ordered the Thai Chili wings, soft pretzels and a Pork slider. The food came out rather quickly and we watched the basketball game. I would have enjoyed myself more but the air was blasting and made it very uncomfortable to enjoy the game. My wings were amazing but a tad salty and I thoroughly enjoyed my Pork slider, but wises it had a little more BBQ sauce. I treated myself to a Midori Sour that was exquisitely made and all in all decided I’d return for a follow on visit. Two ladies beside me dined on loaded chicken nachos that smelled delicious and shared an enormous brownie desert topped with ice cream that would be next in queue for my return visit. Our server was quick and amazing and checked on us several times~ Definitely recommend ~

I don’t normally take the time to Unilocal chain restaurants, but I had such a great dish here. I must Unilocal.Bad addiction. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast with Yukon potatoes and grilled asparagus. Holy yummy. The chicken was panko crusted, stuffed with a chive creamy cheese. It was so moist and tasty… I literally left nothing on my plate. The asparagus were seasoned well, and grilled just right. Not overly crispy, or soggy. And the potatoes. Mashed and delectable for the eating. It’s a little pricey, but I didn’t feel like it was over priced. Just enough food without having to waste it by taking leftovers.
