First time here. I ordered a Chai late and it was superb. They even sprinkled some freshly ground cinnamon on top. I’ll be coming back for more and I’m hoping to try some food next time.

Soooo the hours are wrong here… found out the hard way when I attempted to take a group of ppl to get coffee a cpl weeks ago. It doesnt actually open until 0900. I tried again over lunch last week and very much enjoyed it. I bought a coworker the caramel macchiato on special, and another one a smoothie she absolutely loved. Tried both the oatmeal arisen and chocolate chip cookies and they were very good. especially the oatmeal!!! I look forward to going again soon… I just wish they really WERE open at 8… I’d be in there every day before work if that was the case!

The West side is an area that seems to reinvent itself, buoyed by a grassroots community. We have seen this realized in the revamped Guadalupe Cultural Arts Theater and in most recent years, Gallo Pizzeria. As our palettes have become more refined so is our need to scour different sections of the city to find new experiences. So if in the West side you might find, The Guadalupe Street Coffee, a great spot in an underdeveloped segment of our town. It’s really small and cozy. The parking you find, if that, will be undoubtedly be across the street. Inside it is coffeehouse chic’. There are a few tables spread throughout the space. On the front wall by the counter is a mural with lowriders and cholos. It has a pretty laid back vibe to it.
The menu is simple with prices to match. The have an healthy option for all. I had the turkey and bacon sandwich, which was really good. The sandwich was on a toasted bread served with sweet potato fries. The thing that struck me was that it was filling and didn’t feel like it would weigh you down. The service is really, really good here. No sooner did I order did the food come out. In addition the waitstaff is very attentive and personable. I can see this was not wasted on the patrons there, a cross section of the city comprised of business types, artists, writers, skateboarders; a dude in the corner sporting a Guns and Roses t-shirt. I do have to admit the place is a smidge hipster but I don’t think that it’s such a bad thing, in most cases that demographic has the ability to raise the stock of a business. I say this since I spotted a gentleman utilizing the WIFI service on his laptop, a dead ringer for Sheldon the guy from The Big Bang Theory. And speaking WIFI a major selling point of this place is that they encourage neighbors in the surrounding area to use their computers they have there. It is my belief that it’s important for businesses that serve in communities to give back with something as profound as a job. And as simple as basic services, like the use of a computer. It certainly goes along way. The Guadalupe Street Coffee is a great spot and is now a fixture in the Westside. It has great food at really reasonable prices. And excellent service! I’m just waiting for the summer to cool down a bit so I can try their coffee! And I’m sensing that day is coming really soon!

I love the turkey chipotle sandwich! I am addicted to the raspberry aioli sauce that comes on it as well as the chipotle mayo to dip the sweet potato fries! I hugely recommend this restaurant. They have coffee drinks like Starbucks, and some of there own takes. I always chose the chai or xochtl(spelling mistake!). The drinks are a lot cheaper than getting Starbucks. Though the food is not CHEAP it is definitely a fair price. A lot fairer than paying 15 for two at sonic, I pay about 20 here!

Love this hidden gem. Not only does it focus on the small local business feel of the area, it offers the locals a place to go and feed their minds. Don’t be alarmed by the streets — rather, take it in. This area has a lot of history and the community is looking to revive it. — Food is amazing by a legit chef — Drinks are spot-on — As local of a feel as you can get — PLENTYOFPARKINGINTHEBACK

I discovered Guadalupe Street Coffee one morning by watching my local news and they announced«Where’s Cleto?» was there. It didn’t take me long to decide I would venture on over there. Always looking for new and cool coffee shops, I was delightfully surprised when I entered into this modern, art filled coffee shop, that also offered free computer access. There were students working there that morning and I was greeted in a very friendly manner. When I mentioned«Where’s Cleto?» they told me he’d already left, but since I mentioned him I was entitled to a free cup of coffee. That morning their daily brew was from Peru, so I chose that. Coincidentally, my daughter happened to be visiting Peru at that time, so I closed my eyes and thought of her as I drank my cup of java and how it connected me with her. Another time I remember being really pleased with a breakfast sandwich I ordered that was accompanied with big juicy strawberries. It was really delicious! I have returned several times, and never been disappointed, except when they’re not open.

This coffee shop is a part of «Por Vida! A better choice ‘for life’. Healthy Restraurants Coalition.» It is a non-profit hip hangout that is helping community youth. The food is made with love so it’s great place to go whether you’re in the area or across town. If you remember the café de Ruta-Maya then you know the café de Guadalupe Street Coffee carries lo mismo sabor.

It was raining hard, like in an old black and white movie, and I decided to pull off and try to wait it out before trekking back to Austin. I love coffee. I love Unilocal.I love to explore San Antonio.(Stay with me…) So before I left my house this morning, I checked my trusty Unilocal SA and saw this shop. It seemed just the kind of place I like. Coffee? Check Helping people? Check So, as it was raining like gang-busters and I had miles to go before I sleep, I directed my chariot to the side of the road and went in to cool my heels with a cup of Joe. Helpful, friendly countergirl? Check Computer-laden sanctuary for the low-income neighborhood? Check Delicious coffee? NOCHECK! NOCHECK! NOCHECK! Ugh. The worst tepid Folger’s served in a styrofoam cup(side note: it is the 21st century, now. Styrofoam went out with the first Bush administration.) I couldn’t choke it down. All three stars are for the awesome idea and job they do for the ‘hood. OK, and one star for the girl working there. So that’s two and one. Zero for the coffee.

I can drive within a 5 mile radius from my home and not find a mom and pop Coffee house but I will pass three Starbucks along the way. I always slam on the brakes whenever I see one and especially when I see one in the barrio. Down along Guadalupe St. in amongst the pastel colored buildings of the Guadalupe cultural arts center you will find this non profit coffee house which offers computer access for underprivileged locals who do not have a home computer. That’s right computer access not just Internet access. The programs here include student and organizational workshops as well as study hours and art exhibitions. Very cool! In addition to all of that they make a mean cup of coffee. This has got to be one of my favorite things I have come across in our fair city and I am so proud of its existence. I now wish we could find a way to help small local operations like this one survive in a city that apparently craves more and more chain operations.
