Best pizza in San Antonio again. Old owners reopened it on the other side of the courthouse. They also have amazing pasta specials and a desert menu. Great place to grab a fast lunch if you’re downtown. They also deliver.

Great crust, even have pizza by the slice. A pizza joint, minimal selection, no atmosphere.

This is how I’m judging this place… I’m a born and raised Italian native New Yorker who grew up on a slice of pizza from your average NY pizzeria… Getting pizza in NYC is literally the easiest thing in the world. When I moved to Texas I was thoroughly disappointed at what Texas had to offer. Pizza Hut and Dominos will suffice for a quick fix, but can never do justice to the real stuff. I went here during lunch, and I had my reservations at first. But boy was I wrong. The place isn’t that special to look at but most traditional pizzerias aren’t. But you will definitely be impressed from the aroma of the food being cooked that you can smell from down the block. There were ample amounts of garlic knots to go around, pies were coming out of the oven left and right, and the pizza roll and calzone we ordered were freshly cooked and ready in 20min! This place reminded me of home and I was beyond impressed and excited. If you are in the mood for a slice and want the real thing, I would definitely recommend this place. I assure you won’t be disappointed.

Best pizza in San Antonio! Being from Austin, we wanted our typical gourmet flavor that we are accustomed to and we found it! Awesome flavor, fresh salad, and mmm daily pasta special all at a great location!

This place is OFFTHECHAIN! I work a very fast place on the move job in and around downtown. With little time to enjoy lunch, this place is quick and hits the spot every time. Walk in, order up and in just a minute you’re ready to enjoy your slice of heaven. Great to see all walks of life coming together to enjoy this establishment in the heart of SA. Primo place!

Super Yummy! Went there last week. Really wish I had better company on my little lunch but it was absolutely delicious pizza. I got the tomato basil pizza with a garlic knot. YUM! And I thought for that HUGE slice + the knot + a drink it was very reasonably priced at $ 5.50ish. The staff were so cheerful and willing to have a little chit chat while I waited for my slice to be heated. The venue is also a cool, sort of retro location that I appreciated. It definitely is a far cry from the domino’s, pizza hut, etc. Americans are used to when they hear the word pizza.

Everything we ordered was great… garlic knots, Hawaiian pizza, and even got the picky kids to enjoy the cheese calzone… which is saying something because these pizza snobs judge all other pizza by dominos standards :(.

Came in around 1ish to avoid the local crowd. This is a small little pizza shop, cheap for lunch, and it’s pretty awesome. I didn’t really like how they displayed the pizzas in the glass window. It makes sense to have something baked already and re bake it for the customers who want single slices but god knows how long it sits out. I wanted a fresh baked pizza so i ordered a large, I never really had new york pizza before so I really can’t compare it but this pizza was nicely made. The ingredients they used were fresh looking. The chicken were seasoned with black peppers and you can tell it was premium grilled, not like those from papa johns or pizza hut. I also got spinach as a topping and that was great too! The crust was the best part of them all, thin and crispy but with a little bit of bread. I also ordered the garlic knots, and they were pretty good except they are too greasy. Overall it’s a pretty good pizza place.

Quick cheap lunch in downtown. Competition is limited but these guys do a decent pizza pie and the rotating special pastas arent bad either. Location can get pretty packed around noon so go earlier or later to avoid the rush.

I had tried finding this place awhile back and could not find it. Turns our it directly to the right of Cardenas-reeves court house and adjacent from San Fernando cathedral. I arrived about 3pm on a Saturday. No one was there. There two guys at the counter one take orders the other making pizza. There were no pizzas on display. Just on a silver slot tray where you can store several items on baking pan. I ordered to slices to go. They were both put on paper plates and I covered them with a paper towel. They need better to go trays or boxes. I don’t remember what I ordered exactly but on had pepperoni on it. What they do Is they have an already prepared pepperoni pizza and just throw additional toppings on it and put it in the oven to warm up. Looked too… «whatever… It’s pizza just eat it» The crust was really good, the pizza itself was greasy and slightly warm. Luckily I had a bag so my car sit didn’t get grease. Will I go back ??? Only if I’m at the church or at the courthouse. I wouldn’t make a drive just to get a slice.

Good New York style pizza right around the corner from the court house. Very convenient if you are on lunch break from jury duty. The place was crowded and the lined looked long, but go ahead and take a chance with it; the line moves really quick. I had a single slice of the supreme to go for about $ 5 and walked over to Main Plaza to chill out and eat my lunch.

Dropped by this place craving a nice thin slice of zaaah. they had a good deal going, with a slice, salad and drink for like 5 bucks. ordered a slice of cheese and a slice of pepperoni, which they took and gave it a quick pass through the oven. the cheese slice was a bit over cheesy, and the top got a little more burnt than I would’ve liked, but still tasted okay. both slices came out a bit thicker than your traditional NY slice, but the sauce was tasty, sweet and acidy to a point. Can’t say it’s a go to place, but its not not a place I would return!

The pizza is great. Thin NY style crust & good ingredients. Nice downtown location next to the courthouse. I have had a lot of pizza in NYC over the past years. This place is definitely tossing in the same style.

I can’t vouch for it being NY-style, but I do know delicious pizza and this is it. The crust is thin, the pizza is fresh and the prices are cheap(pizza by the slice is the best invention ever!). The location is perfect for people-watching so I love that you can take a seat in front of a window and just watch downtown life go by.

During a recent stint at the Bexar County jury pool, I wasn’t one of the lucky 100 jurors chosen to leave at 11:30 am, so I wandered around looking for a place to eat lunch. I walked past Central Park Pizza, then backtracked and went in. It’s a smallish place, but it was packed. I ordered the lunch special(a slice, salad and drink for $ 5.99). The pizza was crispy and thin and tasted a lot like my favorite New York style pizza. The salad was a small side salad, but it was a perfect size for a quick lunch. If I ever have jury duty again(or if I’m in the neighborhood), I’ll stop in for a slice again!

There once was a time when I had doubted Central Park Pizza and thought they were slacking because they were the only pizza place in downtown outside Rivercenter Mall since Dante’s folded and became a Whataburger so as a result got a bit too cocky for their own good by comprising their quality and fell off. Boy was I wrong? I came to the realization of this when I dined here for lunch over a week ago on a Saturday afternoon after craving Jerry’s but had found out they were closed. The pizza is just as bit as good if not better than it was when it first opened in late summer of ’05. Slices were big, thin and piping hot. The sauce tasted fresh and didn’t taste canned like Pizza Rita’s. It kinda reminded me of what Domino’s Pizza used to taste like back in the day. And the food is much cheaper and service is much better and friendlier despite the owner being from New York City. I also recommend the salads and subs here, especially the meatball sub. It beats Subway’s by a longshot.

This may be the closest pizza to NY Pizza I have had west of the Mississippi. The pizza is a solid pizza. Nice thin crust, good sauce, and good cheese. Home run!

Fast, cheap, and tasty. Words that are music to the ears of this pizza loving girl. Better yet, their crazy huge range of toppings was enough to satisy my much more demanding friends, who do not appreciate my love for a simple slice of cheese. My five dollar dinner consisted of a drink, a slice of cheese, and two garlic knots. Ooh, let me tell you about those knots. I could eat them every day, mint budget be damned. I did learn the hard way that I need to sign up for some defensive eating classes. What happened to the sauce for my knots? Yup, swiped by my friend who decided it was the perfect dipping sauce for her pizza crust. It was that good. Anyways, I’d be shocked if I brought anyone here and they left even a crumb on their plate. Thank you, Central Park Pizza, the carb coma was definitely worth it.

This city is pretty lacking when it comes to pizza. There’s a good number of artisinal pizzas, sure, but a good everyday pie is hard to come by in this city. Because I have yet to find a parlor that is aware of the Midwestern cracker crust, I have no choice but to live and die by the New York-style thin crust. Florio’s has been my go-to pizza for a while, but I have to believe that the city can produce more than one good pizza place. Central Park is easily amongst the best of the city. It’s probably no coincidence that the owner is reportedly from New York, but the pizza I picked up the other week was of the thinest of crusts, topped with some deliciously crispy pepperoni and pickled jalapenos as part of their Texan pie. One thing did occur to me as I perused the menu — the topping choices for each of the regional pizzas were pitch perfect, the Texan included, as it reminded me of a friend from Dallas who always got his pizza with the same pickled jalapenos. Clearly thought went into the creation of the sauce, which was made from crushed tomatoes(errant chunks were still occasionally found on the pie) along with some very thin slices of onion and Italian spices. It doesn’t seem like it should be necessary to compliment a pizza place on making a tasty sauce, but again, this is San Antonio we’re talking about, and all too often the sauce is just an ingredient over which copious amounts of cheese and toppings are piled so as to overwhelm. The crust, too, was excellent, with a slightly buttery taste and a consistent crispy crust. The end crust was like eating a freshly-baked roll, which I liked quite a bit. The worst part of the restaurant(for me, anyway — I’m sure the owner doesn’t mind) is that it’s located in the middle of the busy downtown area, which makes it a difficult pie to obtain when I’m not willing to brave the crazy and dangerous traffic of Commerce Street, but it’s hard to find fault in the pizza, which is some of the best I’ve had in the city.
