Excellent service! Awesome carne guisada tacos! A great view of San Fernando and Main Plaza. Open on Sunday too!

I am no expert on Mexican food, but there was something very relaxing and unpretentious about this place and the food, while I would not say spectacular, was predictably good like comfort food. Prices were very reasonable, and service was excellent. Restaurants along the Riverwalk all looked like tourist traps, but this place felt real. I saw a couple of Spanish speaking police officers eating here. My overall impression is that this place is authentic, and I enjoyed my Jalisco Special.

For a small hole in the wall this place is easy to miss, but if you do you’ll miss out on some fabulous food. Went there for lunch on the recommendation of a local. I had the Jalisco Special — thin grilled steak with cactus(nopales), a small salad, rice and beans. Topped the steak with fresh squeezed lemon juice. Not sure what they seasoned the rice with but it’s the best I’ve tasted. The rest of my family had marinated sliced steak, the #6 and the #8 on the lunch menu, that had them licking the plate. I don’t know what it tasted like because they wouldn’t share.

I came here with my gf expecting good food from the reviews but it wasnt. The waitresses kept yelling from across the room asking if certain plates were ready which was kinda obnoxious. And the food was bad… It lacked flavor. One of the things I ordered was a chicken taco, at first glacé it looked okay it has lettuce, tomato, and cheese. But once I opened it to see how the chicken was prepared I almost gagged. It looked like it was just boiled in water and tossed into a tortilla. It wasn’t shredded or had any type of flavor. The only thing I liked was that I was leaving the resteraunt never to eat their food again.

Ordered the chilaquiles and a bean and cheese breakfast burrito. I was disappointed. Never had chilaquiles before but I wasn’t impressed. Greasy food and not much flavor:(Good prices and fast service though.

It’s three stars for its proximity to the courthouse and their ability to get you in and out in less than 45 minutes. The food is OK, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here routinely. I had the pastor lunch plate which while plentiful, relied on chili powder to season the dish. Cop-out. It came with the usual rice, beans, salad and a dollop of guacamole. Ho hum.

Mediocre food. It will do when you work downtown and you want cheap, fast mexican food. One waitress in particular was talking trash about her customer in Spanish because he couldn’t understand. I HATETHAT. They have bad attitudes which makes the food taste sour. Time to find another breakfast joint within walking distance

Well it ain’t the best there is but the price makes up for the lack luster of this place, breakfast tacos are $ 1.25 a piece, not bad for a quick picker upper. We also had a bean and cheese nachos plate and that right there was not bad at all. Like I said not the best but there is just something about this place that I would go back and have breakfast or lunch. I noticed that they advertise daily lunch specials for less than $ 5.00, like I said the low price makes up for the other areas it lacks in. Taste well it’s not bad at all but the size of the tacos are small and the tortillas kind of so and so look fresh.

Total bill for breakfast for me and my husband: $ 11.65. We had the huevos rancheros breakfast and my husband ordered a chorizo and egg taco. The taco was reeeaaaaly good and the huevos were just okay. I wish it had come with toast so I could dip it in my eggs, but then I guess that wouldn’t make it an authentic Mexican dish. The coffee wasn’t bad and the service was pretty good. Nice and cheap.

OK, so my breakfast at my hotel was horrible so I went out on a search. I love little hole in the wall joints and I hate to go to ethnic places that are filled with non ethnic people. The food had no frills and the tortilla’s were not homemade but the staff was friendly. It appeared that most did not speak English well which could be why other reviews were negative on the friendliness. They were nice enough to me and a smile goes a long way. I only tried their breakfast but any place that serves chillaquilles is alright by me. They had a decent selection of simple foods but was amazingly cheap compared to those other over priced gringo joints on the river walk. It’s a hole in the wall and is not filled with your typical people you would normally dine with but I would eat there again. Just don’t go in the back door like I did :)

Just okay. Not very warm and welcoming. The food wasn’t bad, the tortillas didn’t taste homemade.

Standard, decent Mexican loncheria food. I had a couple of tacos and my cravings were happily satisfied. Big tacos, not the hand-sized ones. Amazingly quick service and very inexpensive.
