This has been my favorite sub place for almost 30 years. The classic cheese steak is the best anywhere !! Sadly I believer that they have closed down.

Subs are ok, most are probably better than subway, service is a little slow. I prefer earl of sandwich or which wich over this place but my coworkers keep insisting to meet here.

Amazing food and a great price. I had their classic cheese steak, loaded(of course). I wish I have a larger mouth, so I could enjoy even more of it. The bread was so fresh they served it right out of the oven. I am not be Boston sports fan, but I do like this place.

What happened to this place? It used to be amazing and the sandwiches were good; excellent in fact. Still the best cheese steak in town. BUT… The place smelled and looked stale. We originally sat next to the children’s play area and had to move due to musty miasma coming from the gross carpet. The entire place not just looked but just felt dirty. Finally… the clam chowda(their spelling). One of my favorite items on their menu tasted like lumpy cream gravy that was lightly clam-flavored. We’ve been going to Boston Subworks for more than 13 years and I don’t know what’s happened. Maybe the road construction nearby was a big hit or may the owners stopped caring. I died a little inside today.

Consistently great cheesesteaks with many varieties, all of which are tasty. I have ventured off the cheesesteak menu but usually regret it — mostly because the cheeseteaks are so delicious Tip: the cherry relish is really good!

I bought the $ 10 Unilocal voucher and used it for lunch. I had the spaghetti and meatballs with side salad. The spaghetti was a little watery, but noodles were cooked well. I like the meatballs a lot and there were plenty in the bowl. The salad was small, but decent and the garlic bread was pretty good. I’d go again for lunch and try a sub next time.

Better than most. WHOAH. What? Kidding right? Here, next to my place. So close. I can get into some serious trouble here. Sandwich’s are great, service is polite, clean atmosphere, cheesy Christmas lights and decorations, but over all a local feel. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. BIGTIME

I have three food weaknesses in life: Pizza & Wings(yes, for a New Yorker that cumulatively counts as 1 food), Cheesesteaks, and General Tso’s Chicken. Today I went to Boston Subworks because I had a real craving for a Cheesesteak. First-off, I would like to highlight and emphasize that they DONOT call it a «Philly Cheesesteak». This is an important differentiating factor because a Philly Cheesesteak is an entirely different sandwich that people confuse with just a Cheesesteak. This was the best Cheesesteak I have ever had, period. Bun/Roll: This roll was phenomenal, and I am a real bread junkie. I am that weird dude in HEB that you see going around the bakery squeezing all of the bread to test its freshness and texture. This bread had the perfect softness, all around the bun, with the perfect ‘spongey-ness’. It had great flavor that genuinely contributed to the overall flavor of the sandwich, and it was the perfect amount of bread for the contents. Roll: 5⁄5(Best Cheesesteak Roll I have ever had) Steak: My biggest complaint about most restaurants is that their Cheesesteaks lack seasoning – badly. I don’t understand why it is so difficult to use salt and pepper? Can anyone explain this to me, because I swear that most places here in San Antonio, literally, have no idea what salt is. Is the population of this city comprised of evil spirits that are repelled by salt and that is the reason for its absence? Either way, Boston Subworks nailed the seasoning. The beef was tender, the right thickness, and had wonderful flavor on its own. It was also a generous portion of beef in comparison to the size of the roll. Next, and this is the most important: Some places have no idea how to cook their steak. They usually grill it to the point where it is rubbery, or dry. Not here. My steak was a perfect medium-well(just a tiny bit pink). This is how the steak should be cooked folks! I very, very rarely see this anywhere; but one thing is for sure, everywhere I go where the steak is cooked like this, is among my favorite places to get a cheesesteak, because it is obvious that they know what they are doing! Absolutely fantastic. Beef: 5⁄5 Cheese: Since this is a Cheesesteak and NOT a «Philly», I cannot deduct points for the absence of cheese sauce/whiz – that is not the type of Cheesesteak they are selling. The cheese on this sandwich was plentiful, melted well, and tasted great… I believe it was provolone(one of my favorites). I am 99% sure it was a mild provolone and not aged, though, I am a fan of the bite that aged provolone gives and I think it would have made the sandwich better. Regardless though, the cheese was great and it gets a 4⁄5. Condiments: I will absolutely confirm that the Pepper Relish is amazing. I am not a big fan of grilled onions and peppers, so I always order my cheesesteaks without them; but I love a great relish, and this was one of the best I have ever had. It had medium spicy-ness, and a really great sour-to-spicy-to-sweet balance. I got two little cups of it to-go, and it fit a large sub perfectly. 5⁄5 – AMAZING. Overall Sandwich/Food: 5⁄5 Atmosphere: It looks a little run-down and trashy in there; but it felt like a sandwich shop from back home(New England). It isn’t fancy, well decorated, and it doesn’t have quality furnishings; but the atmosphere felt like home, and it worked perfectly with the style of the restaurant. One word: Authentic! 5⁄5 Service: I was expecting your typical run-of-the-mill, average-at-best service when I walked in, but everyone was really friendly – even during a lunch rush. I appreciate that, and for that, I’d like to thank them. They are not required to be pleasant, or to smile, or be helpful; but in my 45 second interaction with two different employees, they were all of these things. I love family-owned businesses, because you get to deal with people who genuinely care about their products and services. 5⁄5 Final Thoughts: You will not find a better cheeseteak in San Antonio – believe me, I have tried. I would also support their claim that it is the ‘best cheesesteak in Texas’ – I have not had one better, or even close. Honestly, I would come to this place time-and-time-again and not just because it is in San Antonio. I would eat here if it were in NY, Boston, and yes – even Philly. Their combination of an amazing product, coupled with great service is a winning equation for me. I have now officially found my place in San Antonio for my Cheesesteak craving. Thank you Boston Subworks!

Texadelphia has decent cheesesteaks but they have that«chain» taste to it. My search for a led me to Boston Subworks Diner. Granted I have no base of comparison because I’ve never had a real Boston or Philly Cheesesteaks but I consider myself an eclectic foodie with a sophisticated palate for the finer things in life. My sophisticated palate tells me Boston Subworks has a wide assortment of phillycheesesteaks! The original is still the best but their other subs are worth trying out. I had a pepperoni pizza sub and that was a hott mess of goodness. Stop reading and get to Boston Subworks ASAP! Vamanos! Jaldi Jaldi!

After looking at the other places around here we decided to try ‘the best cheese steaks in Texas’. Not by a long shot. The bread is good but the meat is too tough and grisly. Pasta salad was pretty tasty but the best in Texas cheese steaks? Nah, I’ve had better even here in SA let alone all of Texas.

In my search to find the best cheese steak in town I headed to Boston Subworks to give them a try. I used to eat here a lot when I worked close by. I realized I needed to head back in to give them a fresh visit. Not much has changed I just love all of the old Boston memorabilia. Now this is a joint! Ordered a small cheese steak with chips and a drink under $ 8 what a great deal. Picked up some red pepper chili like Mike W. recommended and put it on my. The sandwich is very good and the beef has excellent flavor. The mushrooms, onions and cheese help hold it all together. And boy was Mike W. right the chili sauce makes you want to eat it fortnightly. Zapps chips also set it apart. This makes for quite a satisfying lunch.

Not bad, asked them to grill the japs on my phillie, they instead added them after finished grilling– would rather had them grilled.

This place has the most fabulous food and they *always* get it right! I have gone here multiple times, picking up lunch for everyone at work and they always get our custom orders right and they are SO fast! The sub sandwiches are always huge and packed with all sorts of great stuff. The first time I ordered a large sub and I was in shock at how HUGE it was! I had it for lunch, «snack,» AND dinner! I got the Greek Salad today and it rocks! I usually don’t like salads, but since starting the whole diet thing(bleh!) I am trying to eat healthier and WOW! There are several types of lettuce, roasted peppers, LARGE chunks of feta and the grilled chicken(I added, doesn’t normally come with it) is so moist and warm! The parking is very minimal, but they have parking all around the building. I agree with the other reviewer about the décor(not fabulous), but hey, it’s a «diner» and the cheerful and friendly staff totally make up for it!

Best cheese steaks in TX is pretty accurate when it comes to this place. Parking is very limited if you go during prime hours. Once you walk into the place you immediately feel like your in a sandwich café on the east coast near the green field… very sporty and laid back atmosphere. The staff has their on and off days, but usually very friendly and funny. They have a decent size menu, but dont even bother looking because all you need is their classic steak sandwich. It comes on white or wheat bread that taste like its baked in house and has a great flaky yet soft texture. The steak is chopped perfectly and is awesomely juicy, add grilled mushrooms-onions– green peppers then top it off with some provolone cheese and you my friend are headed to a one way trip to mouth-orgasm! Now as far as their other sami’s go you are better off going to Zito’s or even Schlotzsky’s. Good eating my friends ;=)

I am virgin cheesesteaker. Based on the Unilocal!reviews, my husband and I jaunted over to Boston Subworks to check it out. I am always looking for a great sandwich, and to me, sandwiches are even better when they’re hot. The food? Yum. The décor? Blah. And it’s too bad because I am not sure I would be likely to go back if I have to sit in an old school Dairy Queen booth. But I probably will(takeaway?) because the cheesesteak was great. We shared a large traditional cheesesteak and it was plenty for lunch. The meat was flavorful, tender, and the quality was decent. The mushrooms were canned so I’d leave those off. But, as other Unilocalers have said, the star of the show is the **red pepper relish.** That stuff is cracky.(It is similar to the red pepper relish at Lenny’s but better because it’s freshly made.) I won’t fault them too much for the décor because the food was good, and likely that style(or lack there of) is inherent to the nature of the food. Good cheesesteak! I’m a believer!

Boston’s has almost everything I want in a restaurant: a relatively focused menu, straightforward counter service, who-cares décor, but they lack blow-your-mind food. The cheesesteaks are far superior to Texadelphia’s, which I believe is their only real competition in the area. I do wish Boston Subs offered more cheeses than just provolone… like Cheez Whiz(or maybe they do? I haven’t asked). The muffuletta has all the right meats(albeit in short supply), is topped with real olive salad and served on a hamburger-sized Kaiser roll. Unfortunately, mine was served with cold provolone which nearly ruined the experience. Certainly worth giving another shot. The«Clam Chowda» was far from rich, quite thin, and disappointing in terms of seafood flavor. It was closer to a potato soup with some clams thrown in as an after thought. Even at ~$ 3 for a medium bowl, skip it. And if they really want to compete for Texadelphia’s crowd, they need a real TV; the 13″ tube in the kids corner doesn’t cut it! I also notice that most of the customers tend to be… older. The place isn’t going to last forever if their daily special becomes a senior citizen discount :(

Entering Boston Subs is like walking into the sports hall of fame for every team that Boston has. The Bruins, the Celtics, the Patriots, the REDSOX! It’s wicked awesum. Dude, you like pahk ya cah theah and you get a sanwich(Corey Affleck style in Good Will Hunting) Just give me my snacks! They name their sandwiches after legends, the latest. .The Tom Brady. Although I would much rather have himself on a bun than a sandwich any day. My brothah and I went theah one day and chowed. We left full and happy and didn’t even have to jump a plane to go home, although Boston doesn’t serve up tortilla soup in any fashion. Besides all that, it was wicked good. You should go to, bro. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is fun! They are really just a lunch crew. Probably still on east coast time.

It says«diner» in the title, but this isn’t a greasy spoon or 50s flashback eatery. I eat lunch here all the time – the food is delicious and the staff friendly. It’s very laid back. The majority of the menu is made up of sandwiches; they also have salads and pasta. I lived in Boston for two years and don’t know what makes this restaurant Bostonian, since they serve lots of(delicious) cheesesteaks and Southern food, but the décor is all Red Sox and Patriots. I hope to eat there regularly!
