WANTTOTORTUREYOURWORSTENEMY? TAKETHEMTOBEIJING(NW Military and Lockhill Selma) In my blog posts, I like to wax poetic when the food is good and rant when the food is bad. This time? It was SO bad, I will stick to the facts with no emotion. Waitstaff??? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! They take your order, and basically abandon you and wait for their tip. I highly suggest sneaking your own drink in, in your purse. You will almost die of thirst. First and foremost, Be careful of the floors. What may have been poop was on the floor at our feet as we sat down. I’m hoping that it was sauce after the lady we mentioned it to made a face and barely wanted to touch it herself. The owner tried to turn our table over within seconds of being seated. She was VERY impatient with us. The food? Crab Rangoon was tasty but greasy. Mu shu and chicken with broccoli were heavily laden with onions. It seems like they were trying to plump up the entrees and make them look bigger to justify the $ 9.19 entrée prices. You are also only given a very small bowl of rice. The fried rice had absolutely no flavor at all whatsoever. The egg rolls were a frozen Sysco product as we saw them being unloaded as we left. The chicken and broccoli was some kind of processed chicken roll that I just couldn’t wrap my head around. The iced tea? I’ve given small children bigger Dixie cups of water… you get more liquid from the Capri Sun that you’ve sneaked in, in your purse! When the glasses were empty, they were empty! We saw our waiter two times in an hour and a half. One of the two times we were refilled, the glasses were so full we couldn’t add sweetener. I took one sip, and the waiter came and refilled me so full, the glass over flowed a bit onto the table. I was highly agitated at this point. Hubs stayed dry a VERY long time. On a $ 31.33 bill, we contemplated leaving nothing but we decided the tip we left was punishment enough for the extremely poor service that we received. Literally two bites in we were offered to go boxes and the bill was placed on our table. The waitress, who spoke fluent English, couldn’t understand the words, «We would like to order two egg rolls please.» I had to explain that Hubs wanted an egg roll and I also wanted an egg roll. It was very uncomfortable. We have never been made to feel more unwelcome. I’ve been a waitress in fine dining and otherwise and can tell you that the service was deplorable.

Somebody correct me if I’m wrong — I think Bejing is closed. I used to really enjoy their delivery service. A couple of months ago, when we called, they left a message about remodeling. Now we can’t get the phone to ring at all.

Simply put, excellent meal. Excellent ambiance. Excellent service. I’m a person few words when it comes to writing or typing. I suppose I could start quoting a Dr Seuss book.

I really like this place! The food is good and the portions are big. Sad that the review is bad. All the people giving only 3 stars all say its good so I dont understand.

I’m surprised to find such authentic Chinese food in San Antonio. Large portion too. Almost missed it because of low review in Unilocal

kinda surprised to see a good restaurant with such a low score. For me, it’s very authentic, delicious, large portion and cheap. Special suggestion for their duck soup. Super !

Authentic Chinese food! We liked the dishes so much. And the portion was large! I would definitely come here again if I visit San Antonio next time.

I really can’t even give it one star. This place is FILTHY! There was no soap in the ladies room, bugs in the front cases, bugs in the sweet and sour sauce, and I am not sure what was splattered all over the walls. When we spoke to the«chef» because the owner wasn’t there, he was so rude! He didn’t even want to listen to what we had to say. I will NEVER go back and we had to throw our food out! They argued with us about paying so we did the right thing and payed…

The food here is hands down, the best around. Consistently delicious. Unfortunately, there isn’t much else to review on. The service is not bad, its just not good. Or maybe absent is a better word. The ambience is not bad, its just not good. The prices are not bad, they’re just not good. It’s a very rare situation that I find myself without the words to say what I am feeling, but I really feel like that is how my experience at this restaurant has left me. I don’t want to complain, because I genuinely enjoy coming here to eat the food. But I also don’t want to rave about this place, because then I would be setting it up for failure.

Dine-In Only! Great food. We always get the General Chicken, eggrolls, fantastic wonton soup and kung pao beef without the peanuts. They have never failed us with Great food. We have been going there for many years. The purpose of the low score is to warn everyone NOTTOORDERBYDELIVERY. 1 hr and 11 minutes later I have a soggy mess. eggrolls that fall apart and cold. General chicken that is cold and steamed rice that is a cold lump. They offer absolutely no apologies or any type of restitution towards poor service. Order @ your own risk. @ $ 49.00 dinner it would be nice to at least be warm. M3mphi5

We drive by this place all the time and just never thought about stopping in… truthfully because the name invoked an image of a giant buffet with screaming children, heaps of frozen pepperoni pizza next to kung pao chicken… but we did, thanks to our neighbor who is a fan. The place is pretty tired looking inside, with the standard red, gold and while décor and the smells coming from the kitchen do nothing to dispel any preconceived ideas you may have about this place. But it is quite clean and the staff has been friendly both the times. Nothing on the menu really stands out but the two things that we have become fans of is the pumpkin in ginger sauce(thin slices of pumpkin, stir fried with slivers of ginger, scallions, white pepper and salt… just a perfect combination of gently sweet and warming notes) and a corn soup which is just fabulously warming on cold days. The spring rolls are a miss, being too loosely formed to enable efficient eating, and other dishes are just okay. But its worth it to order the slightly different dishes(lily greens for example) which are done quite well and are a delight.

So disappointing! My family and I have been going to this places for over 20 years. We tried it a few days ago. When we arrived for dinner we were the only people there. It was very awkward. I ordered my favorite Vietnamese dish, but the waitress said the owners changed and the dibs was no longer offered. We should have left then but we decided to stay and order. We got the fried spring rolls, a former favorite of ours. The fish sauce dressing was tasteless. My moms fried rice was just oily– no veggies or egg in it. We also got the soft spring rolls and the peanut dipping sauce was so watered down it was flavorless. The sweet and sour sauce seemed to just be red-dyed sugar syrup. Gross! We will never come back here again. Such a shame to see a great little place go so downhill.

WTH happened… I wrote a good review about this time a year ago which I have since removed. At the time, the food was excellent. I would say it was on par with Houston’s Chinatown. I have eaten there three more times hoping for a repeat of the first visit. I have been grossly disappointed with each visit worse than the previous. Different cooks??? who knows. They claim no MSG; but well, I question that or they the cook has a heavy hand with the salt. I am betting MSG. Bridget G.‘s review really sums it up and I have nothing further to add. There are better Chinese restaurants in town that are cleaner. I’m done. I am not every going back.

«Hot and sour soup no flavor must add soy sauce to add flavor, insultingly tiny bowl, sesame chicken what would be expected, msg loaded» That was my initial review when I ate in the restaurant months back. It took me a while to actually get online to submit it, but I wish that I had earlier. At least, this way it would have helped prevent me make the mistake of using their delivery service. With a minimum delivery order of 12.00, I figured«eh, why not?» After all, it was a day when I just did not want to leave my apartment. So I called the restaurant and after stating I would like to place delivery order was placed on hold… and by «hold» I mean«the phone was set down». I would hear the woman on the line as «Whats your address? Apartment number?» and other related questions as if she was clearly speaking to me. It took me a while to realize that she was speaking to someone else on another phone and that I had been set down. Anyways, I placed my order of taro boba tea, sesame chicken, and an order of crab rangoons and waited for my order to arrive. I placed my order at 3:28 pm and ANHOURLATER recieved my food. Actually, it was over an hour. I got it at 4:42 pm. That’s a bit ridiculous, seeing that I didn’t live too far from the place… but I thought«whatever, right? I’m hungry and at least it’s here». Now the food. The taste was, as mentioned earlier, what was to be expected. When I began to eat more of my food was when I discovered that there were two pieces of chicken connected by HAIR. That’s right people. A freakin’ LONG strand of STRAIGHTBLACKHAIR. Needless to say, I could not eat the rest of my meal without feeling disgusted. The crab rangoons were crispy and somehow still soggy in all the wrong ways; The cheese was similar to powdered crumbles and the crab non-existant. Overall, worst 21 dollars ever spent(24 if you count the tip left for an unreasonable hour long wait). Do not eat here. Do not get delivery from here. It was absolutely disgusting

My wife and I have been coming to this place for years… Because my wife is from San Antonio, we always stop by when were visiting. Unfortunately, this will be the last time we dine here. We noticed 2(two) cockroaches on the walls while eating our meal today. Needless to say if two are in plain site, who knows how many are crawling around behind the scenes… Unfortunately, we didn’t see anyone come back to our seating area for about 10 min before we decided to pay our bill and leave. Not sure what happen to this place, but not planning on coming back to find out. Sorry Beijing, but you’ve just lost two life long customers and their families.

In my perfect world that contains no diets I would have lemon chicken once a week. I was excited when I moved to my new place to see this location is less than 1 mile away. After my first and last visit I was in denial on how bad it was because it was super convenient. When is comes to the perfect lemon chicken the fried part is what makes or breaks it and Beijing just was a big let down. Unfortunately, the lemon chicken was not good and the egg roll was not its lifesaver. It was take out so maybe the customer service could have given them more stars but with all the choices we have in SA they will not have another chance.

My grandparents were regualrs here and it came recoomended by them. It is decent utilitarian Chinese fare definitely geared towards theAmerican palette.(Special note to all of those«this isn’t authentic Chinese food» crowd. Most of you know nothing of what real Chinese foods is anyway. Chances are you would turn your noses up at what the people in China eat) That being said it’s better than what you’ll find at Panda. I ordered Garlic chicken which by their reconning was one of their spicy dishes. While I found the flavor good I didn’t think it was all that spicy. The cobo I ordered came with soup and an egg roll which wasn’t included in my take-out order for some reason. The soup was just so-so, not very sour and slightly sweet. My garlic Chicken was quite tasty as was my fried rice. The Mushu chicken that my wife ordered was also quite good. All in all we enjoyed our meal and found it to be a good value for the money. The restaraunt itself was quite quaint with an assortment of Chinese curios for sale. I’m a fan of such items so I bet that I’ll leave there with a Kwan Yin statue upon another visit. I also noticed that they had Vietnamese food on the menu. I’ll definitely will be giving that a try!

I used the GPS in my brand, spankin’ new car to find a random Chinese restaurant nearby. I selected this restaurant because my mom spent 2.5 years in Beijing teaching once upon a time. Pretty scientific, right? Anyway… **FOOD** My friend got the sesame chicken, which she liked. I found it average. I got the curry chicken, which was very nice, if not a little light on the chicken(more onions & peppers than chicken). The dumplings were delicious. **SERVICE** Very good. Our waitress was attentive and very polite. **CLEANLINESS** I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, but it could’ve used a thorough spring cleaning. The men’s restroom was in dire need of cleaning and remodeling. I enjoyed my dinner, but will likely not go back.

Why did I wait so long to make a return to Beijing? Great lunch specials and even better food. This place sits hidden in the corner of NW Military & Jackson Keller tucked away in a strip center behind the Valero. Triple delight, Hot & Sour Soup, Wontons, Egg roll & Fried rice for $ 6.50. What a deal and the taste wow. I just love their Hot & sour soup great flavor and perfectly thick and full of tofu, mushrooms and veggies. The triple delight is excellent and loaded with heat, protein and those insanely hot Chinese peppers… Delicious. The egg roll and fried rice are a good compliment to the plate. If you are looking to find a new standard for good Chinese food then you will find it here!
