I have a lot of five star reviews, but that is only because I tend to only go to places with good reviews on Unilocal.However, I happened to stumble upon this place by chance, and am so glad I did.
I needed to get my hair cut and styled the morning of a ceremony I was participating in. The problem was it was the night before the event and I still had not set up an appointment. I finally found a place way across town with an opening. Worried I would not be able to beat the traffic, I decided to drive around to find a closer place. I am so glad I found this place!!! The owner offered to match the price across town and bring someone in early in the morning to do it. She also threw in getting makeup done for free and offered that I change clothes for the event there. I did so and headed straight to my event after my appointment. It worked out perfectly.
Sammy cut and styled my hair and also did my makeup. I am so pleased with my haircut. It finally came out exactly how I want it per my description. Usually people «overdo» it with my curly hair and all the layers. His most talented area is definitely in makeup though. He spent a long time with it (but not too long) and really did a good job.
I will be back to buy some makeup and for my next cut!

I have had so many bad experiences before and I finally found the best place. Stephanie was amazing. She listened to my concerns and was very knowledgeable about the products. She did exactly what I wanted and some. I definitely found the place for me. Everyone should go there.

I was in town visiting my sister and wanted to treat her to her first facial. Even though the aesthetician called in that day bc her son was sick, the owner Deborah called me back to say she would personally take both my sister’s appointment and mine. The facials were amazing. Deborah was very informative of each step and personalized the facial to skin type and activity level (I’m a big outdoor runner.) She was an incredibly friendly and accommodating proprietor. Amar is also military friendly! I highly recommend Amar for facials and face products (we bought the volcanic ash mask and pumpkin face scrub)

This is a fun little cosmetic store. I like it because they carry a wide array of products and brands. Honestly, I have never heard of any of the brands before visiting this location but I am not a huge make-​up on a daily basis kind of girl. Anyways, every time I come here I am looking for something very specific and wanting to get the products and the skills to achieve a certain look. The ladies that work here not only know their products, they take the time to show you how to apply them — which is just what I need, a little guidance. The prices are a little expensive but as the saying goes you get what you pay for, and the products here are high quality. I will be back with my next perplexing makeup question and I’m sure they will have the perfect solution!

Wow. Just wow. I now know why Amar has a five star overall rating.
I’m no girlie girl, by any means, but this place might have just turned me into one big girly monster. First, I had a facial with Cynthia that changed my life. She uses all natural products and has the touch of an angel that will make you want the facial massage to never stop. I then proceeded to hair, and got a blow out from Ryan. He’s an artist with a round brush and made my hair look like it had just been freshly cut. He’s also fun to chat with and super cute! Finally, Deborah did a little makeup number on me that was the perfect summer’s day look; not too heavy but just enough to bring everything together.
The staff all together is solid. The vibe of the place is pretty swanky and classy, without being uppity about it, and the staff does a wonderful job of making you feel comfortable, especially if you’re like me and spa days like this only happen once in a blue moon.
I found out that most products they carry are exclusive to their store, or *maybe* you can find them at Neiman’s or Julian Gold, but most of their products are one of a kind and they really stand behind them as being the best of the best. Let’s just say I left this place one extremely happy girlie girl and a monthly facial is just something I’m going to have to work into my monthly budget, no questions asked. Amar, you have created a monster.

I cannot, I repeat CANNOT believe that this amazing boutique has been around in my city and I have never stopped in. It all the more shameful that I live nearby and frequent several other businesses in the area, including their direct next door neighbor and two of the restaurants across the street. Amar, please forgive me for my delinquency and let me frequent your store where I could live happily ever after for ever and ever.
If you are a girlie girl like this redhead, prepare to be absolutely blown away by the mind-​boggling selection and list of services:
The owner will most likely greet you at the door, she’s a very friendly and lovely woman, and the staff will diligently show you around the place. They carry many high-​end beauty brands that I have not been able to find at any other store in town. Incredible, incredible products. There is also a wax bar, a full-​service spa room and hair by Giacomo Forbes. If you have somehow lived under a rock for the last year, Giacomo is a world famous celebrity hairstylist who was on Bravo’s Shear Genius and has a list of clients that would blow you away…
But, he’s here in San Antonio, can you believe this? I just kinda think that’s super cool. They also offer makeup application services so keep them in mind for your next special event.
All in all, I thought this was an absolutely incredible find and I’m just kicking myself for not visiting sooner!

What a great facility… I got my hair cut by Giacomo Forbes. and he recommended that I use ManeGain Hair Regrowth… which this facility has. and it is totally awesome… and works… I have thicker, fuller hair! 5 stars!!!

I just love Amar Cosmetics. First of all, they carry all the brands I love — Nutura Bisse, Jane Iredale & SuperGoop! They have recently added 2 estheticians to their staff and now do waxing and facials. It is fairly easy to get an appointment time that works with your schedule. I did have a waxing experience with one of their gals that I was less than happy about. I emailed Deborah, the owner and told her about it. She asked me to come back in so we could make it right. I didn’t want to be Wendy Whiner but thought they should know that I was unhappy. Well I made the decision to go back and use the same girl and she was so happy that I told her I wasn’t happy and she re-​waxed me and didn’t charge me for it. She appreciated my feedback. The glas at Amar do AMAZING makeup, if you have a special event be sure and call them. For $ 50 you will look like a million bucks.
