This was the first stop on my cross country adventure… I had been driving all day. Started out in San Francisco around 9am and didn’t pull into SLC until around 8pm. I was exhausted and really needed a hot shower and a warm bed. That’s not too much to ask for right? Since I was on a budget, I needed to find a cheap motel. You can see the SUPER8 sign from the highway, so that’s basically what helped me make up my mind. Well that and the only other cheap motel in the area was the Motel 6 across the street, but since the doors opened to the outside with windows facing outside, I decided to stay at the Super 8 for extra safety. $ 52 including taxes for one night which was for a room with one double bed, tv, bathroom and free wifi. Hmm. Not bad. The hotel didn’t look too bad from the outside… Got the room and found out that looks can be deceiving. I should have known better. The room smelled like a marijuana forest had been grown in it since the beginning of time. The windows were super thin so the room was very cold and I could practically hear the roaches crawling around in the parking lot. The wifi did not work and the heater also barely pumped out heat. The bed was also stained and gross. I ended up sleeping with every single piece of clothing on, including my jacket and shoes. The only decent thing about the room was the bathroom. It was at least clean and the water was piping hot. If you don’t mind the noise and the smell and sleeping with every article of clothing still on your body, this place isn’t a bad budget place to stay…
