7 Mile carries on in the tradition of ultra-crisp & light ciders started with Ruby. But 7 Mile manages to kick it up even more. It is so dry it drinks like a white wine, but absent the bitter, woody flavor, and with a barely perceptable background sweetness. If you find most apple ciders too sweet or heavy, give 7 Mile or Ruby a try. They challenge the idea of cider as a sweet, syrupy drink for autumn, and play well year round with chicken, pork, chocolate, cheese etc.

New cider is available, so I figured I’d update my review: New 7 mile cider! It’s a touch more sweet than the their original cider(Ruby) and a bit more green apple in the flavor. It’s bright and crisp like the Ruby, but I think more approachable, I suspect more people that aren’t as into cider will like the 7 mile. Super delicious and easy going at only 5% abv. Events: I have been to a few events at Mtn West and wow. they know how to do it up right! They make the space inviting and comfortable, everyone that works there is bend over backwards friendly and professional. As a quick last note, one of the things that’s super impressive is how many community events they are involved in: Gallery Stroll, the arts, Pride week, Salt Lake Chamber. Not only are they making good cider, they are being good citizens of the state. Cheers!

I wasn’t much of a cider fan before I tried this place but, I am sure now. Their cider comes from a local farm and you can taste the quality for sure. The employees were all nice and even the owners were very friendly and informative. Stop by for a tour, you will surely love it. I know I will be ordering some of their stuff when I am out and about.

We were invited to visit Mountain West Cider at a Unilocal Elite event. It was my first time to taste cider. WOW it was extremely yummy. We met the owners and were able to taste various types of their cider. Since then we have purchased their cider at our local liquor store. We will difinately be back and take some friends with us.

After two successful events in a week at Mountain West Cider’s awesome location, the brewery atmosphere and their cider has quickly made it’s way to my list of «Salt Lake City Faves». Mountain West Cider currently has one delicious brew: Ruby. I have never been a huge cider girl. The excessive sweetness usually makes me sick before I can finish a beverage, but Ruby hasn’t treated me this way. She’s the perfect level of cider-sweetness, meaning — there isn’t a ton of it. She’s made with LOCAL apples as well — could she get any better?! Ruby reminds me a lot of champagne, and I’m a HUGE fan of that. Local apple champagne without a scary pop top?! Put it in me always. My first visit to Mountain West was for a Unilocal event. At this point, I got to meet the fabulous owners and learn more in depth about their awesome establishment, future brews(the next should be hitting our mouths around March!), and extremely local love that is Ruby. Needless to say, I was excited to return for my second event, 2 days later. Side Note: if you are attending an event at Mountain West, and you’re wanting to purchase Ruby for later, long night tastings, you do need to make sure to buy it before 7pm — when they have to stop selling. I went to the first event hoping to pick some up as I left, but Utah is Utah and does not permit this. I learned quickly for my second event: I got there slightly before 7pm and purchased, and have thoroughly enjoyed her subsequently(at only $ 5.99 per bottle!). If you are able to attend an event at this amazing location — DOIT. They have a fun location to fit in many people, they have a wonderful group of fun staff members, AND they know how to host a great event. Mountain West is one I will definitely return to. I can’t wait to see how this amazing, local company grows and flourishes.

While some may say that the fact they only have one cider currently available is a bad thing, I view it as a positive. Currently, you can pick up a bottle of Ruby Hard Cider from the folks at Mountain West Hard Cider, who are just getting settled in their new location directly adjacent to the Red Rock Beer Store. So, why the one cider selection? I haven’t asked, but one can only assume that to release a new product just for the sake of selection would reflect poorly on the quality standards of the Brewer. When it’s right, it’s right. And by God the Ruby Hard Cider from Mountain West is RIGHT! A quick briefing on the Ruby cider: Pours clear straw yellow, no head or lacing. Aroma of ripe apples and mild spices. Flavors of crisp green apples, herbal with a mild tartand dry finish. Not too sweet with a nice crisp tartness. Kind of like a champagne in a way. Yummy. So to the folks at Mountain West Cider: take your time on your next cider invention. If it’s anything like Ruby, I’ll be the first person in line to buy a box.

We were introduced to this place during a event and the cider is fantastic! The staff and owners are great. Ask for Mountain West Ruby at your local liquor store if you can’t make it down here, it’s worth it.

I got the chance to try out their cider at an event held for the Unilocal elite. It was ok cider, in my opinion, there are better out there. However, the bar tender at the event was making a modified blood orange mixed drink using their cider and it was freaking delish! So maybe as a great mixer. I will also say that the place was immaculate, and the employees were very nice.

Great Cider. I love local joints that try to do new and fun stuff. They have a great space. If they don’t currently use it for events they should consider it.

Came for a Unilocal Elite event and was able to meet the owners and try their cider aka Ruby. Owners are very genuine and cider tasted great! One of the best tasting ciders I’ve tried so far. It’s 6+ alcohol content but didn’t even taste like it. Along with their ciders, they also sell apparel/accessories. Available also are group tours. Fun fact: they use local ingredients to make their ciders. Can’t wait to see Ruby’s in stores! Thanks for hosting an awesome Unilocal event!

Thank you for having the fantastic Unilocal Elite Event tonight at your gorgeous location. The Ruby Cider Italian, blood orange blend was fantastic. The other food and fun places that attended made the night even more fantastic. Thank you to the Unilocal Team and Jeffrey S. for working so hard for us. We will be telling everyone we know all about you and look forward to seeing all of your great Ciders on the shelves of every store that can stock it.

what a great place to do a tour and learn about how hard cider is made! the owners are both so nice and you can really tell that they’re passionate about what they do. it was fun being able to sample different stages of the hard cider and to ask them questions about the process. they are still pretty small, but i can see them expanding quite quickly, as cider is a growing business. we learned that they stick with local sources for their apples and we even got to try their apple juice(before being fermented), which i have to say, is the best apple juice i’ve ever tasted! they seriously need to bottle that stuff up and sell it. it taste like fresh apple slices, rather than the sweetened apple juice we’re all use to. i don’t even like apple juice, but i am now a little obsessed with theirs. i appreciate hard cider, because since i have a gluten allergy, i can’t have beer. hard cider is naturally gluten free and is really quite delicious. we were able to sample their ruby cider which is what they now have available. you can buy it at their location or at the state liquor store. i can’t wait to see what they come out with next!

Forget everything you know about about cider! Which was pretty easy for me… since the only thing I knew about cider was from Ned Flanders on the Simpsons. «If it’s clear and yella you got juice there fella. If it’s tangy and brown you’re in Cider Town!» I had this notion that hard cider was a cloyingly sweet beverage that lightweights drank because it tasted like soda. Boy, was I wrong! I stopped by for a UYE tasting and got a schooling. The owners and the cider maker were extremely knowledgeable and personable. I received a crash course in cider and it’s history. Did you know it’s America’s oldest alcoholic drink? Currently they have one cider available… Ruby. Ruby is a sophisticated little cider clocking in at 6.8% alcohol. She is not too sweet, but is most definitely sassy with her crisp sharp bubbles, off-dry taste and a slight fruity apple finish. You could drink this as you would any sparkling white wine. Apparently it’s gluten free, full of antioxidants and has less calories then wine. It’s practically health food! They are working on different ciders and are experimenting with different techniques and recipes. They had a whiskey barrel full of some aging cider that had some real unique smokey flavors. Should be an interesting batch. Sounds like a high alcohol(13%) and a cinnamon infused cider were in the makings. This cider is made in small batches and the production capacity is small, but there is definitely room to grow. The apples are locally sourced from The Mountainland cooperative in Santaquin, Utah. So, you can feel good about supporting local business too! The cider can be purchased by the bottle, which is $ 5.99 for 500 ml(about 17 oz). They have a cooler stocked with some cold ones for you to take home. Mountain West Cider will be in Utah liquor stores soon and apparently it’s already being served in several local restaurants. I recommend stopping by for a tasting and a tour and chatting up the staff here. Remember… an apple a day…

Best hard cider I’ve ever had for not being a cider snob. The taste is not too sweet which is an issue with Strongbow and some other cider makers out there. They are working on local distribution so you should be able to pick up their cider is local stores. However, I definitely recommend a pit stop to the tasting room to see their operations.

If you want to broaden your selection of beverages, try Mountain West Cider. It is naturally gluten free because it is apple-based. Not just any apples, but locally grown apples. I had the opportunity to taste the pure juice before the fermentation process and omg I must say it is the best apple juice I have ever tasted. So you can be rest assured that the final product called Ruby Cider is a big deal. They have a small tasting counter here where you can get a taste of what this place is offering. Being newly opened, they don’t have varieties yet but the owners told us that they are working on that. They are open to new ideas too so if you like your cider being done in a certain way, let them know. From the tasting room, you can see their production floor through the windows. From one look, it is uninteresting. You’ll see static 800-gallons metal tanks. No fancy color no glitter. Fortunately for me, I was there for UYE, so I don’t have to break into any restricted library section under my invisibility cloak to learn about concocting drinks. They explained the process to us. Here’s how it goes in a nutshell. They get fresh juice locally, let it settles for a bit then ferment it with yeast in that big tanks for some time. This is where the magic happens. Then pump in CO2 for to make it carbonated and voila, your delicious cider is done. If I want to describe it, it’s dry but smooth enough, not too sweet, bubbly and refreshing. So if you are in the neighborhood, do drop by. It’s fascinating to see the process up close, do some tasting and talk with Jeff and Jen, who are very friendly and very passionate with what they are creating here. Oh and grab a bottle or two before making your way out too!

What a fantastic experience. We had an UYE here and they went all out for the tour. We were able to taste samples at each stage of the process, plus the barrel aged test project. Even if you are not able to tour the place, it’s a very welcoming tasting room. The cider is near dry. It is a welcome change from the mass produced versions previously available at the State stores. I purchased enough to last until it is available at the State stores. It’s something I will look forward to drinking. As the only dedicated cidery and their commitment to using locally sourced apples, they deserve to be supported. The fact that the cider is really excellent is all gravy. We are lucky to have breweries, distilleries, and now an excellent cidery locally.

Love… Loved this place! I enjoyed the distillery tour at this months UYE. You don’t know cider until you take this tour! So much great information was learned from these guys. They have a lot of passion and knowledge to share about Ruby Hard Cider. I am excited to try out all their future bottles they have planned. Definitely a place to check out for a cute date or group activities. Do not leave without buying a bottle it’s worth it! Have a Ruby with your meals or get your wine glass out and classy it up, this cider can pass for a light smooth wine and what’s even better they’re GLUTEN free!!! I wasn’t even bloated after having a whole bottle with my dinner :)

Came here for a Unilocal elite event and it wasn’t disappointing at all. This company started in November bringing cider beer into Utah. All the apples gathered for this beer was from local Utah orchards. These cider beer is like wine, except the alcohol level is a bit lower, and it’s yummier for me. This place can be transformed into an event venue if you so wish to have a party there. I’m sure catering and stuff can be discuss with the owners and they can make it a night to remember. The owners of mountain west cider was super friends and made the event wonderful. They started us off by giving us samples of their most famous line of cider which is called ruby. They also gave us a tour of their brewery and their process on making their cider. We got to try the different stages of the alcoholic cider in the making. Honestly though, the apple juice is the yummiest I’ve tried. They also let us sample a test line that they are considering rolling out in the future. It is the beer cider fermenting in a bourbon barrel. It is super yummy, taste like wine, but without it being as strong. I do recommend asking for the cider beer made here because it’s super yummy. They do have it available all around Salt Lake City. I even bought two bottles before I left. That’s how much I loved their ruby.
