I have very good memories at Chuck-A-Rama. The food is good I like the fact that it looks like when you walk through the door you feel like you were sent back to the 1800ds while being in the present. It is the best restaurant.

While visiting from Las Vegas we tried this buffet. Now I know Vegas is the buffet Mecca however I feel like I am being fair. This place was very clean and the staff was nice. The buffet area is a little tight to move around in but we managed. The selection is okay but, besides the salad bar there aren’t really any vegetables or many healthy choices. I do believe in fried foods as I am southern but I do respect the need for ruffage. I would have liked to see more greens, and other veggies on the counters. There were a lot of starchy items and meat but it was good. I would like to recommend that they review the food pyramid again. Maybe I will get to visit again one day

Our extended family has eaten here many times. The food and service have always been good. Because it is a buffet with a great variety of different food, it is a great place to gather as a group of different ages and tastes.

One of the freshest and most consistent buffets I’ve ever experienced! Kudos to the Moss family for developing and maintaining such a fine and enduring smörgåsbord!

Price is right! Especially if you have children. Food is good and service friendly; can’t ask for more.

Can’t go wrong with Chuck-A-Rama, have been going here for 10+ years, definitely a family favorite. American food style buffet, every day they have a different selection of food, you can call in and see what they’re doing that day. I don’t like buffets really but if I had to chose one, It would be here!

I have eaten at Chuck-a-rama many times, I think that they are great for what they are. By all means this is not fine dining. if you are expecting great service and great food. you are in the wrong place. That being said, I think that 90% of the food at Chuck A Rama particularly this location is very delicious. they have hundreds of drink options, which are included in the price. if you go to buffet restaurants frequently, you will know that this is not common these days. the service here is also good if not spectacular. while this location of chuck-a-rama is not the cleanest place I have ever been in my life, it is far cleaner than most buffet restaurants. I don’t want to bash anyone else specifically but there are many buffets in and around Salt Lake City that I would not send my worst enemies to because I would be afraid of them dying from food poisoning. & I don’t want that on my conscience. overall I like going to this restaurant I would recommend it to others and I will go again.

Scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the best: Cleanliness 6(floors dirty) Food Preparation 8 Quality of Food 8 Employee Friendliness 6(forced greeting signed receipt and never came back) Employee Efficiency 8 Food Variety 8 All in all, okay experience but not one I will walk away thinking I need to come back. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would ;-)

This place has been around for as long as I remember and I’m 66 years old. I just moved back to Salt Lake after 17 years in Las Vegas(where there was no Chuck-A-Rama Buffet) but there are tons of other buffets. My meal was good, regular American high calorie, high fat food. Some very tasty rolls(with black and blue jam and honey butter). The chicken was good, mashed potatoes were just that. No complaints, no service problems. It’s Chuck-A-Rama Buffet. Now that I’ve been there, I don’t think I’ll be back too soon!

Pretty excellent buffet all-around: relatively cheap, tons of drink options, service is friendly and quick, and best of all the food is actually good. Some of the items that keep me coming back are: fresh baked dinner rolls, fry bread, biscuits & gravy, cinnamon buns and their chicken enchiladas. These items IMO rival or surpass those found at many full service restaurants. The dessert table is also massive, with an eye-popping(and button-busting) array of rich, moist cakes and creamy soft serve with a dazzling line-up of warm cookies and sweet toppings to trick out your dessert plate. Kids under a certain age eat free. Servers bring drinks to you but they’re also self-serve if you desire. Lunch is around $ 10.

When I go with my family, which has varying degrees of picky-ness, everyone walks away from here satisfied. Personal favorites are the dutch-oven pork stew(pork roast, carrots and potatoes swimming in flavor), Rolls(rolls don’t get any better, White and wheat, honey, honey butter, and butter are all available), scones, fresh fruit, baked chicken, fried chicken, and most importantly APPLEBEER soda. I wish a number of dishes were a higher quality product, like the carrot cake, which is dry and needs improved frosting… but overall lots of variety. Kids 3 and under eat free! The table servants keep the dirty plates out of the way and fill up your drinks, and are easy to talk to. Facility is clean. Fantastic place for a large group!

Understand that my five stars is for the category. Up-Chuck-A-Rama really is head and shoulders above other buffet chains like Old Country or Ryan’s. Great place for family reunions. I eat there at least once every three years(at family reunions). As with all decent smorgasbords, your key is to keep your plates small, with only a couple of bites of any one item if practical. Relax. Don’t stuff your face. Sample things. If something is especially good then have another bite of that. But for heaven’s sake, STOP when you are satisfied. That is crucial in any meal but most important when you are in an all-you-can-eat place. Once you are satisfied, anything more is just punishment even if it’s great Pennsylvania Dutch fare at Shady Maple Smörgåsbord(legendary weekend breakfast buffet) or salt-roasted meats at Fogo de Chão(awesome everything). Shady Maple is an Amish Country legend and any Brazilian churrascaria with sufficient quality will shame the ol’ Chuck-A-Rama. But those are special occasion places. If you don’t live in Vegas, Utah is a pretty good spot for anytime dining out on a budget. As long as your taste for gourmet cooking ends at scones(fry bread). Everything is strictly comfort fare. And they’re pretty good at it. Don’t take the all-you-can-eat thing seriously or you will hate this place.

Make your own cheese fries. There. Oh and make your own cheese with gravy cheese fries. There again. 5 stars for that. I love it!

Limited selection. Wanted hot vegetables and although the salad bar was there all was limited. The only hot vegetables were corn and green peas. I travel a great deal and try to hit a buffet when I find one. I’ll pass on Chuck-A-Rama in the future. I gave it 2 stars for cleanliness.

Great food and service! The scones are the best and honey butter makes them even better :) The fried chicken is a little oily but there are plenty of other options.

Despite it’s unfortunate name, the food was decent enough for buffet food. Would I come back again, sure if someone pays for my dinner. Other than that, I don’t really see the point.

We went during Friday afternoon lunch. The selection was okay. A lot of starchy dishes, breads, potatoes, stuffing. We use to frequent Chuck-a-Rama as a youngster, towed along by our grandparents. It’s no better or worse since then. When Golden Corral came to town, we started to patronize them. Their selection was wider, and the food seemed a bit more savory. For a buffet, Chuck-a-Rama is a good choice. Always clean, and fresh. Foods are more on the bland side, however it seems to appeal to the senior crowd. My wife said the fried chicken was good. The Rice Crispy treats were soft and delicious.
