Horrible is a kind description. Food floating in grease, stringing beef, undercooked chicken, cloudy hot and sour soup. Stay far away

Ming’s Buffet on 21st So and 3rd West in SLC: I don’t like to judge a place based on the reviews on the Internet. People write a bad review more often than they would a good one. I’ve read all the bad reviews and still decided to bring my girl along and check it out. There was a groupon for $ 12 for $ 20, so we decided to go in. My first impression was that«the reviews did say Crazy Jim» soon as you walk in. I’m like… Alright, you don’t know until you jump in full dive. I went to the bathroom first, because I like to wash my hands before handling food. The bathroom was dirty and the place had only one customer(?) There was some trash piled out in the open and the food looks like it’s been there for days. I told my girl that I’m gonna write an honest review about it, and this is really how it is. I write positive and negative reviews based on my(our) experience. I wasted $ 15 and went to another restaurant instead. I told her to throw away her food, cuz it looks like there’s a high chance you’ll get food poisoning and let’s go somewhere else. Save your money, I took the dive for you. If you still go, you won’t have to say I told you so.

I am NOT a picky eater. If it’s edible I’ll eat it. But this place I tried a lot of the food but more than half I spit back out on my plate. And the rice is clearly instant rice and very soggy. Jello was okay. I ate jello.

About as bad as it gets… there isnt a single thing on the buffet menu that was good… had no choice cuz we are on a bus tour with about 60 people and this is the place they choose… went to a different chinese buffet in buffalo bill(that i left a review for as well) earlier on this trip that was 10 times better and 2 dollars cheaper… avoid at all costs

I know that this is a cliché, but if Unilocal had a no star option, you bet I would leave no stars. 1 star is still being somewhat kind to this place. Sadly, we were forced to eat here, since we are on a tour with others, prior to checking the one and a half stars that they had. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

I had one of the most tough steaks in this buffet restaurant. Other food was OK but not great.

Terrible service. Came on the bus tour and they hardly have the foods available especially meat items.

The only positive was that I walked away without food poisoning. Mysterious looking meats, super salty items, watery soda, dark and dubious looking interior, gloomy looking clientele. Even the rice was barely edible. I stuck with the fried stuff to be «safe,» but I was certainly scared for my bowels. If you’re forced to eat here because you’re stuck on a tour, I offer you my condolences.

Arrived at Crazy Jim’s after a long car ride with my tour group. This has to be the worst buffet I have ever visited. The food choices were limited and there were barely any trays of food out to be served. A handful of trays were completely empty and the workers never restocked until our tour group was about to leave. Not to the mention, the first plate I picked up had a crusty, dried bean sprout stuck on the side. I picked up another plate from the stack and it was really wet. I wiped it down with a napkin and went on with using it. Hopefully, it was just newly washed and that was the reason why it was wet. As for the food that was available, it was either stale or soggy. I even got a bamboo leaf wrapped rice, and the rice was not even cooked! My family and I tried to at least nibble on some food, so we can satisfy our hunger. We have been on the road for almost 6 hours and needed at least some form of food in our stomaches. As of right now, I am hoping we don’t develop food poisoning. Crazy Jims was also memorable because of the tray of Lays BBQ chips that they serve. I have never been to a buffet that serves… chips. Interesting. But unfortunately also stale. I wonder how long it has been placed out. But what irritates my family the most, was the arrogant waitress, who stormed to our table and demanded money. We weren’t even half way done eating and she demanded«$ 52». That was the total for 3 adults and 1 child. After we gave her cash, she stormed up to the next table and continued to demand money. Is this their store policy? Perhaps they should consider waiting for people to finish eating and asking for a bill before they interrupt their meal.

As the other reviews say, the food is no good for a Chinese buffet. The only good thing is they have rice porridge. The down side is no shumai or any of the Dim sum dishes you see at other Chinese buffets. They have dumplings though.

Horrible! We travelled all day and passed by this Chinese buffet. The food was not tasty at all and the attitude of the server cannot be worse any more! The waitress came to our table to ask for paying, she did not even look at us when she is saying! Apparently, the middle age fat woman preferred cash. When we asked politely, could we pay by card? She said arrogantly, we don’t accept PayUnion(银联)Chinese credit card. I never used that kind of card in the US before. The smell of the restaurant was also not that good. Very bad experience!

This place is a Chinese Buffet! Sounds like it’s not… But it is. J The whole time I was eating here I felt super anxious and worried. I came here with a Chinese tour(plus there was another tour, so around 2 buses). They may be cooking fresh since a lot of people were coming. There were also people coming in from the outside so I was a bit surprised how lack of review this place has. The fish was a bit smelly(like that fishy smell you get from not cooking your fish too well). Sushi is not bad, but I wouldn’t get another plate of that. I also did not like the hot and sour soup. Fruits are cut fresh. Corn on the cob was delicious. 2 stars instead of 3 because: the people working there were yelling at each other from the end of the room to the kitchen to report what kind of dish needs refilling. Very uncivilized. I felt as if I were at a Chinese market. Also 2 stars because I hear that sometimes people don’t get enough service here if there were no tours.

It’s always questionable when you are required to pay for the buffet before seeing it. Please save your self esteem & never stoop to this level. Seriously… fried fish heads on the buffet?! Ugh * yak

Quality of food was awful, I couldn’t finish 1 plate. It was dirty and the food look like it had been sitting for hours. It was a waste of money.

No stars. The only thing«Crazy» at Crazy Jim’s is the risk of food poisoning I took by eating here not to mention the pants-less, shoeless child screaming and touching food at the buffet. Food was old and clearly had sat out all day… I ate noodles they seemed safe, do not waste money here filthy, nasty not yummy.

It’s 8:30pm, and we have a busload of 40 hungry folks. There aren’t a lot of places that would be able to handle a group like that at that time and in a reasonably short time, but this Chinese buffet is one of them. It’s not the cleanest place. The food was adequate at $ 14 pp all-in. I’d say 2 stars on the food and restaurant, but 3 stars overall rating with the business context on the efficient handling of a large group at a late hour, and at the dollar value.

$ 14 pp lunch. I could get a better deal in California and still look like cooked with love. If your bus tour drop you here, go on diet or eat your fruit. Its not worth the price. Really! Not Yeanne approved!

I blame it on lack of sleep and a hungry stomach that took me to this place. The temptation of all you can eat did me in that moment. The place was empty at around 7PM, not a good sign for a buffet. But I was already there, and did I mention the hungry stomach. The food have been sitting in their trays for awhile. Dumplings were dried out and just not good. There was a hibachi grill and some sushi if you feel brave. I always rely on my steel stomach to carry me through, and I actually tried the sushi. It didn’t kill me was the highlight of that particular adventure. There were some more exotic items like braised pork feet and tripe. Overall the food was not fresh, and not good. Crazy is right for the name and me for eating here. I need to thank my steel stomach with something delicious after this.

This place is crap. It’s called Crazy Jim’s for a reason, and it’s because it’s crazy disgusting. If I could I would give it a negative star because honestly it doesn’t deserve a star at all. First of all, I am from southern California, so I am used to decent to superb Asian food. And I’ve eaten a lot of Asian food too! I ate their sushi because everything didn’t look too appealing to me honestly. I saw the sushi and I already knew it looked pretty sketch because it seriously looked like it’s from a packaged/frozen box of sushi. The California roll was gross it seriously left a bad after taste. Also the«crab» meat was a pink paste that… I don’t even know what it’s made out of but it was disgusting! Also my second complaint was the eggroll. The eggroll was well done and cooked on the outside. But when I had cut the eggroll in half, the meat was raw on the inside. It was gray and pasty and disgusting. At this point I was about to complain to the manager or whoever was in charge for putting out uncooked meat. However, I decided to just eat their little vegetable choices that they offer. I ate some sort of leafy vegetable I can’t remember what they’re called but I can tell you this, when I ate it I swear, there was sand. It was like they didn’t even bother to wash the vegetables. At this point I was done; this restaurant is crap. Don’t waste your hard earned money on nasty food in this restaurant and I do not recommend this place to anyone.
