Salon Sage

I got my hair and makeup done for my wedding by Brandon and Jennifer at Makeup Eden, which shares a space with Salon Sage. I was very happy with the results. They were very helpful and flexible on the big day. Both went the extra mile to get things right.

Brandon is great! I went to him for a balayage service and was nervous because it was a new salon and i was generally new to the area, so not going in on much. He did a fantastic job and is so personable and knowledgable, I’m so glad to have him as my new regular hair stylist. He gives you what you want at a fair price, I highly recommend you give Sage a try!

I have to say that if I won the lottery tomorrow I would have Kim live with me permanently to blow dry my hair.
I have been all over the world, to many many salons. No one has ever made my hair has amazing as Kim. Every single person and their mothers commented on my hair. Come to DC !!!

Pretty disappointed. I went for the first time this weekend and was upset to find that they washed my hair in FREEZING cold water, to the point where I was shivering. They blamed it on the washer/​dryer, not my fault. The hair stylist was unapologetic and overall, not friendly. I had a trim, foil (ombré), wash/​dry/​style. It took a very long time, over 3 hours! I have had this done many, many times and it never exceeded 2hrs. Once my hair was dry, I was very upset to see that the majority of my ombré was not blended, at all. It looks kind of crazy, hoping that it fades with washes. Not going back, for sure

I was recommended by a friend to visit Brandon after she had a great cut and color.
I went in and he did a fantastic job with my haircut.
Called a few months later to schedule an appointment a week in advance. I emailed him to cancel, but did not hear back, called, but was unable to get in touch. Canceled my conflicting plans and then received a phone call hours before my appointment, as he needed to cancel and was offering to reschedule for the following day.
To add, because I see that some reviewer recommends brides-​to-​be to go, my friend that recommended him is newly engaged. I will share with you her experience:
She scheduled an appointment for a cut and a color a few days before her wedding photos. The day of the photo shoot, she had a hair updo appointment, not with Brandon, but with another stylist.
When she went in the stylist did not stop commenting on how poor of a job Brandon had done and pointed out to her that her hair was two different colors, super blonde by the roots and a light brown (opposite ombré?) towards the end. That is not what she wanted and the hair stylists recommended she get in touch with Brandon to have it fixed. she was surprised to hear that Brandon had colored her hair in the past and asked her if she had seen another stylist since the last coloring. My friend said that she had, when she was visiting her hometown and had a friend (previous hairstylist) do it for her when she was in a pinch. I understand that this is a business and he is trying to build his clientele, but he essentially ruined a very special day for her, by making her feel very self-​conscious of what her hair color would reflect in the photos (wedding photos)
She has reached out to him and has not heard back.
I would carefully consider booking an appointment with Brandon. I recommended to her that she should not return, if he’s going to be spiteful and do something like that — too bad, because he’s great at haircuts!

I would not recommend the nail salon they have! Not only were the employees extremely unprofessional but they also seemed to not know how to give a pedicure! They made myself and my friend feel like they had better things to do than our nails! They rushed and did a crap job! I was trying them out for my wedding in 8 months to see if they we’re good and accommodating for a wedding party of about 10! We will be taking our money and business elsewhere!

I have been walking past this salon for about six months as part of my commute and finally walked in for a haircut a couple weeks ago. What a great small business! I got a great affordable haircut and the owner, Brandon, is a very nice and good-​humored guy. There are multiple stylists, but I worked with Brandon. I will continue to go to this location for haircuts as long as I stay on the North Shore!
¹²⁄₂₀₁₄ Update: I wrote my review in June 2013. A year and a half later, I’m still going here for my cuts with Brandon, and now I buy my shampoo/​conditioner from them as well. Since my last review, they moved to a new location up the street that is bigger and offers more services. It’s a beautiful location, and now it has parking — before it was only street parking, but now they have a parking lot. Re: the new services — I haven’t tried out the new services since I’m a simple cut and blow dry type, but I think it includes stuff like waxing and professional make-​up services. Every time I go, I’m surrounded by happy customers!

Brides looking for the BEST service possible, COME HERE! Everyone here is so friendly and Brandon is by far, the most patient and understanding stylist that could ever possibly exist! He takes the time to REALLY make sure you have EXACTLY what you want for your big day!
I went in having no clue what I wanted. We did trial style after trial and we finally figured out what was best. He was so patient and had so many great ideas. The wedding day, he was there to put every last hair in place all the way up to the last second I had to walk down the isle! We had some picky bridesmaids too that they were able to make comfortable by giving them the perfect up-do’s.
The prices are reasonable and they are so unbelievably talented! I haven’t had my hair cut there yet, but I’m the type of person that never let’s anyone cut my hair! Brandon did a quick bang trim for me and not only had he nailed the exact bangs I’ve been trying to get stylists to give me for years, but he showed me how to maintain them too!
I’m going back for a haircut as soon as I can. It’s been well over a year since I’ve let anyone come near my hair with scissors and I have full confidence in Salon Sage! =)

AMAZING.
I’m a full foil blonde, who every couple years will switch things up and go brunette for a while. I went to Salon Sage on a whim one Friday, when I had decided I wanted to once again go back to brunette. I am extremely picky about my coloring– for many years I went exclusively to a colorist in Boston who charged more for a full foil than I was paying in rent at the time. Literally. Because she was just the best, and I always found I simply wasn’t really happy with my coloring if I went anyplace else.
The moment I started talking to Brandon about my color, I could tell that he was incredibly knowledgeable and super experienced– I was correct. When it comes to color, he REALLY knows his stuff. I was so pleased with the way my color came out, and on top of that Brandon was so sweet and friendly, I felt so comfortable and had a great time chatting with him while he stayed until 9:00pm on a Friday night losing track of time while he perfected my hair. And to top it all off, their pricing is unbelievably reasonable.
I can honestly say I have never had a better experience at any salon!!!
If you’re considering going to Salon Sage, you should absolutely call and make an appointment right now. This place is a hidden gem. Ten stars.

This is a newly remodled salon so i wanted to check it out. I went into Salon Sage for haircut. The staff was very pleasant the place looked beautiful and I ended up with a really great haircut! I would recommend the salon to everyone!
