I was here for the first time a few weeks ago. The owner really seems to know his wines and is definitely NOT a snobb about it. Even though I was only in the tenders $ 20 range he treated me like I was buying a very expensive bottle. I appreciate that. I will be back.

My husband and I were looking for a wine shop that had a nice variety and reasonable prices. The Winesmith was exactly what we were looking for. The owner was very knowledgable and pleasant to speak with. His dog was cute too. We went with his recommendation on a bottle of wine and it did not disappoint. Love little places like this. You can’t get this kind of service at a grocery store.

This a great local wine shop where the owner tastes every wine before making a decision that it will go on his shelf. They are dedicated to giving back to the community through hosting charity events, and inviting the public to attend. I was a little thrown off by his dog wandering around in the store, but it didn’t seem to bother anyone else. A great locally owned business worth a look!

A very cool small local wine shop that proves you do not have to pay a lot for great tasting wine. There is a lot to love about this place(i) affordable great tasting wine — both domestic and imported;(ii) frequent wine tasting. It’s a small shop with varieties of wine that are affordable and delicious. Don’t expect ABC quantities here people. But what they lack in volume they make up for in quality because all of the wines I tasted here were very drinkable. If you don’t know a lot about wine and the thought of going through rows of wine racks intimates you, then this is a great place to buy wine because whatever you pick here will be a winner. I love that they have affordable wine tastings and that sometimes the event is for various local charities. Check out their Facebook page to keep you updated on those events. The only criticism I have about the tasting is that there was no discussion of each wine as it was being poured. The Wine tastings I have been to usually have people giving details about the winery, the tasting notes, the wine region, why it was chosen, etc. here there was nothing. Also, the wine was not as much offered as you had to ask for it. My boyfriend had to ask for every single sample rather than having the owner go around offering the sample. We loved almost every wine we tried and I even bought a bottle.

It is great to have small wine shops where the person recommending the wine is also the one that tasted and purchased the wine. It’s an important distinction. The owner Todd has great taste in wine and is excellent at making suggestions based on your preferences. They often do nice tastings where proceeds go to a particular local charity. And they have some unique wines by the glass that are not the same old mega wineries that dominate lists in Tampa Bay.

Small quaint place with great variety of wines. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Very dog friendly. Matter of fact, Fiona is the owner’s dog and she hangs there. I went for a wine tasting that benefited Humane Society of Pinellas. Fantastic event. It felt good to support organization while trying 15 different wines.

My husband and I went to Winesmith last night for a charity wine tasting event, and we are hooked! There was a great selection of quality, affordable wines for purchase. We tried all 20 wines, and really enjoyed a majority of them(which isn’t usually the case at a wine tasting.) We ended up purchasing 2 great bottles for less than $ 22. To top it off, Todd is accompanied his sweet and charismatic dog in the store.

Todd Smith has been a fixture of the local wine scene in Downtown St. Pete for several years. It is nice to see him set out on his own and open his own wine shop. This is the type of business that I love and love to support. His tastes are excellent, and his shop specializes in old vine wines from Italy, France, Spain, and Argentina. That does not mean that he doesn’t carry wines from other parts of the world, but it is his focus. I did a bit of Christmas shopping there and may pick up a few things this weekend for gatherings with friends and family. Todd throws a wine tasting once a month to benefit a different local charity. If you go to and put Todd Smith into the website’s internal search, you will get a nice write up about him. If you like wine and you enjoy supporting local businesses, then shopping at winesmith is a no brainer. Stop by and check out this shop.
